So for anyone that hasn’t been following, me and a couple other friends are attempting to create our own homebrew legions (although instead of filling the 2nd and 11th legions we’re doing a 21st, 22nd, and 23rd, mine is the 21st. I might stop however cause it’s not very popular here).
The ones that have the pauldrons and top of their helmets painted purple are basic legionaries, the guys with no purple on their armor and more weathered/mixed armor look are what I call The Anaxii (or The Unworthy), they are basically a force within the legion that completely consists of all of the astartes who are serving penance (it’s more or less where most of the astartes that have committed perceived crimes and major acts of dishonor against their brothers go to).
The force itself isn’t entirely that large, only consisting of around 200-300 astartes, although this is very subject to change due to their use as shock troops.
Along side that they are usually rather under equipped and rarely given time or access to the main legion forges for rearmament and repairs, all of this among many other things results in their casualty rate climbing very rapidly and since they don’t replenish their numbers like a normal unit this has even led to the unit being completely wiped out on many occasions.
Many astartes within the main body of the legion often view them with disdain and distrust.
Even on very rare occasions when an astartes lifts himself out of the Anaxii (through extreme feats of honor and service that border on the impossible) such warriors still have much to prove before gaining their brothers trust again.
Amazingly, two individuals even managed to climb all the way up into commanding roles, that being the Pentarchs (Captains) of the 2nd Company and the 54th Company.
However they were the only two to have ever achieved such success in the entire ~200 years of the Great Crusade, and in the following Horus Heresy only one more ever would again, one of few last gasps of greatness for the entire legion.

Did someone call for an AV14 Graviton Imploder? Happy to consider this lad done! Wonderful model, great fun to paint.

Some later Blood Angels scholars have speculated that the practice of colored helmets designating squad role actually originated with the special Blood Angels 451st Company during the Siege. Formed to support a pyrokine librarian whose name is long-lost, but who is said to have chosen the company's name due to an ancient superstition regarding fires and libraries, these flamer-equipped assault destroyer squads wore bright orange and painted their helmets yellow to make themselves appear "as the wicks of lit candles" while burning away the contagion spreading rampantly across Terra.

So I’ve seen some people clown on GW for making this clarification and using it to lament the state of the game but I feel this is a valid question and people just haven’t thought before jumping to conclusions (something that’s never happened before /s)
While this obviously isn’t meant to be clarifying if your dark angels can use the world eater advanced reaction, there was a bit of an open question on if you could use solar auxilia or militia reactions like “Go to Ground” on units you’ve added to a marine/knight army by using the Yeomanry Mesnie detatchment or adding thallax to an army with a forge lord.
While the FAQ wasn’t perfect and left some bits unaddressed (precision hits still using the majority toughness of a unit to wound instead of their nominated target comes to mind) this isn’t the most egregious thing that some people think it is!

Putting down some base layers on my eBay marines. Think favorite MK vi. Not for the look but because there is no trim to paint.

I really enjoyed replicating this stunning piece of artwork in miniture form. I enjoyed the moonlit style if the piece and the idea of the black outline on the bat wing motifs.
Next project is to convert Aethon Shann into the 8th legion.
Had to add my signature purple lightning instead though.
And yes I found my lazy Susan.

Aside from sorting out his head, quite pleased with this arrogant SOB. Was going for Late Crusade, maybe up to Istvaan III?
Let me know what you think.

Had a sudden yearning a while back to do a complete overhaul and restoration on my Reaver, the first step of which is a complete paint strip and redo but I can't find any decent recommendations on a good stripper.
I've use isopropyl for other projects but I'm given to understand this'll destroy resin, and while I've used Biostrip20 in the past, I'm wondering if they changed their formula at some point as the last few times I've used it I just end up with this rubbery sludge that doesn't shift: even when I've scrubbed and reapplied the stuff I'm left with waxy coat.
Ideally I need a product that is:
- cheap enough to strip a whole titan with.
- won't damage the resin.
- available in the UK.
If it matters at all the Reaver is very old, one of the first 500 ever made (if FW use a different resin formula now then would this affect it?).
