MEGATHREAD 2026/27 Semester 1 AUTUMN/WINTER: where are you going on Erasmus?
Every semester there will be a megathread for the people that are currently on Erasmus, internship or studying abroad in general. Spot someone in the same city as you? Maybe your very first friends can be met on this thread!
You can post whatever you like here, you can also post your comment like this:
• Where are you on Erasmus (Country + City)? Why did you choose this city/country?
• How is your experience so far? (If you are already there!)
• How you found accommodation?
• Advice for future students in your country + city
Are you a student going on your erasmus in Spring 2027? This thread might help you
Old thread: MEGATHREAD 2025/26 Semester 2 Spring: where are you going on Erasmus? : r/Erasmus
* This megathread is earlier than the usual ones. This is so that others can maybe find people who go to the same city as them and to already engage in conversation for that. But the thread stays up until January for sure!

Accommodation MEGATHREAD - Looking for your Erasmus room/studio?
Hey there! Are you about to go on exchange on your Erasmus but haven't found accommodation yet? No worries!
Below are some sites that can help you find accommodation in the country you are going to. So far, all the countries have been listed, so plenty of websites to pick from to get your accommodation ready. Some websites do not have an English version, keep that in mind. And remember:
NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
None of these websites have paid any sort of advertisement to be featured here nor am I as a moderator receiving any type of commission. I want r/Erasmus users to get their accommodation as cheap, clean and good as possible.
That being said, some websites do request money for you to have a subscription to them. It is your own responsibility if you choose to do this. Every country should have options for free room searching.
This list will stay pinned in the sub to help others. Remember: If you see an accommodation site that is not to be trusted, please let me know! If any site is deemed very untrustworthy, it will be removed instantly.
For (most) Erasmus countries:
Spotahome - https://www.spotahome.com/
Uniplaces - https://uniplaces.com
Housinganywhere - https://housinganywhere.com
Facebook groups
Airbnb - https://airbnb.com Erasmusu - https://erasmusu.com/
Most students find their accommodation through Facebook groups, so make sure to have an account ready and join as many housing groups for your city as you can. Remember that there are also a lot of scams on Facebook. You can recognize these by something being too good to be true (a 500 euro apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, for example, such a thing costs 2000 minimum) or if the person posting it immediately asks you to pay.
Extra tip for finding accommodation in most Erasmus countries:
- Join the ESN whatsapp groupchats of your city before you go (you can usually find this on links on their instagram page or on their facebook page). Around the end of the semester (december/january, may/june) people start leaving their places and put this inside the groupchat. Take your chance and grab a room from previous Erasmus goers!

Oh oh, HELP! I still have not found accommodation with any of these websites!
Try to go to the subreddit of the city you want to do your semester(s) in and see if you can find anything there. For example, you want to do your Erasmus+ in Rome, so go to r/Rome and search the searchbar for 'housing' 'accommodation' if you cannot find anything make your own post. If nothing there, go to r/Italy. Natives in their own country know the housing market best!
Have you been on Erasmus before (or you've lived in one of these countries and you know the housing market well), tell us which accommodation website is missing and I will add it (if the name is reputable, that is).

Ireland or Sweden
Hello! Next year I would like to do an Erasmus Exchange and I’m indecisive between these two countries, it’s either Limerick(Ireland) or Gavle(Sweden).
Which one would you recommend? Have you been to one of these?

What are my chances to get into erasmus mundus masters with a full ride scholarship?
Hello, I want to ask my chances to get into EMLE specifically by doing the three universities exchange route. I have double citizenship as both Mexican and American and have experience studying abroad in London and Korea both for one semester. I plan to apply as a Mexican.
This are my stats:
GPA 3.6
Bachelors in History from UT Austin
Minor in business from UT Austin (Mccombs)
Speak 3 languages: Spanish, English, and Korean. (Although I'm thinking of learning french too.)
My classes abroad were regarding law and history exclusively
2 letters of recommendation: from business and law professors.
My main goal is to get into the EMLE program as that's the only program I'm interested in. Thank you for reading this and helping in advance!

University of Wroclaw
Hey! I'm coming to UWr for Erasmus in February 2027 and wanted to ask a few things.
How hard is it to get a dorm room? And how strict is the uni with Erasmus students? Are attendance and exams a big deal, or is it generally chill?
I'm kinda worried about how everything will go, so I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experiences

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Which city should I choose?
Hi! I'm going to do an Erasmus exchange next year, and I need to remove one city from my list to end up with my 3 choices, but I'm veeery indecisive and I find qualities and flaws in all of them! My list is: Limerick, Edinburgh, Leeds and Birmingham. I'll study English/French literature. I also made a post to find testimonies about living there as a disabled person, but my goal is also to get more general information. Here are some of my questions:
-What was your monthly budget?
-Did you enjoy the cultural life there?
-Was it easy to make friends?
-In terms of housing, were you on campus or elsewhere? How much did you pay? Did you have a good experience with your roommates?
-How was public transport (price, reliability, coverage)? Could you get around easily without a car?
-Did you feel safe in the city?
-Looking back, would you choose the same city again? What would you do differently?
Thank you for your help!

Title: I have a crush on an an Erasmus girl in my seminar and don't know how to approach her without making things awkwardI'm in a seminar, and I've developed a crush on a girl in my class. I'd genuinely like to get to know her better and see whether there could be something between us, but I'm str
I'm in a university seminar, and I've developed a crush on a girl in my class. I'd genuinely like to get to know her better and see whether there could be something between us, but I'm struggling with how to make that happen naturally.
We've had some interaction in class, including a discussion in a small group, and I remember a few things she mentioned about her academic interests. I'd like to use those as a way to start a conversation because I want to get to know her as a person, not just approach her because I find her attractive.
The problem is that I get anxious about initiating conversations, especially when other people are around. If I arrive early and she's there, talking feels much easier. But if she arrives when everyone else is already in the room, I start worrying that approaching her will look awkward or that other people will notice. After class, she sometimes leaves with other people, and then I feel like I've missed my opportunity again.
I realise that I'm relying too much on circumstances to create the perfect moment, but I don't know how to break that pattern. I don't want to spend weeks hoping we'll somehow end up talking, only to regret never making an effort.
I'm also worried about the other side of it. I don't want to come across as too intense, make her uncomfortable, or mistake ordinary friendliness for romantic interest. At the same time, I don't want to be so cautious that she never even gets the chance to know me.
Ideally, I'd like to start with ordinary conversations, see whether we get along, and eventually ask if she'd like to grab a coffee or tea together if the interest seems mutual.
For people who've been in a similar situation:
- How do you approach someone you have a crush on when you're both in a class with other people around?
- Is it okay to initiate a conversation even if you don't have a particularly good excuse beyond wanting to talk to them?
- How do you move from talking about class or shared interests to getting to know someone more personally?
- When is it appropriate to ask someone to hang out one-on-one?
- How do you deal with the anxiety of potentially being rejected when you'll continue seeing the person in class?
- And, honestly, how do you stop putting so much pressure on a single interaction when you really want something to work out?
I'm not looking for tricks to make someone like me or a strategy to manipulate the situation. I just want to become more comfortable showing interest, give a potential connection a chance, and handle whatever happens respectfully.
I'd appreciate honest advice, especially from people who have been shy or anxious in similar situations.

What's something you genuinely regret about your Erasmus?
People always say Erasmus is one of the best experiences of their lives, but I wonder how many people look back and wish they would done something differently.
Maybe you spent too much time with the same group of people, did not travel enough, chose the wrong city or focused too much on partying.
I am especially interested in hearing from people who have already finished their Erasmus.
If you could go back and change one thing, what would it be?

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Does anyone else feel pressure to make every Erasmus weekend count?
I feel like everyone is constantly traveling, partying or doing something exciting, and sometimes I just want to stay home and do nothing 😢
Does anyone else feel this pressure or am I just overthinking it?

Erasmus student in Athens, toothache and possible cavity, where can I get affordable dental treatment?
Hi everyone!
I’m an Erasmus student currently living in Athens. I’ve started experiencing tooth pain, and I think I might have a cavity or tooth decay that needs to be treated, possibly with a filling.
I have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), but I’m not sure if dental treatment is covered in Greece.
Does anyone know where I could get this treated for free or at a low cost? Are there public or university dental clinics I could visit, or would it be better to go private?
I’d really appreciate recommendations for English-speaking dentists, information on how to book an appointment, typical waiting times, and approximate costs.
Thanks a lot for any help!

What do you all think about Volos in Greece? anybody who went there on a student exchange willing to share their experience?
I was wondering if its a good erasmus location, it seems a little bit small compared to other popular choices for erasmus but its not so small that theres nothing there.

Portuguese 6th-year medical student looking for European clinical elective experiences
Hi everyone! I'm a 6th-year medical student from Portugal looking to complete a few clinical rotations abroad starting in July/August 2027, ideally through an Erasmus+ Traineeship.
I'm trying to find universities or hospitals that accept visiting medical students without requiring a pre-existing bilateral agreement, preferably with no placement fee or only a small administrative fee.
If you've done something similar, I'd love to hear about your experience!
- Which country, university or hospital did you go to?
- Which specialty and for how long?
- Did you arrange the placement by contacting the department directly?
- Did you need a bilateral agreement?
- Was there an application or placement fee?
- Was it hands-on clinical training or mainly observational?
- Would you recommend the hospital, and do you have any advice for applying?
Thank you so much for any recommendations!

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Should I reconsider Erasmus due to anxiety disorder
Whenever I leave home, even to travel to a place I’ve been going to 3 times a year since I was little, I get very anxious and feel like I’m in danger. On worse cases of anxiety, I have DPDR and it usually cause depressive symptoms too.
I get so much FOMO from my colleagues going on Erasmus and summer schools abroad and I yearn for some time living alone although deep down I know it’s a bad idea
Any thoughts?

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad I went on exchange as a student with hidden disabilities. Here are some tips and tricks. Also AMA
Hello, my name is Georgia. I am from Czechia. I am 26. I have just been on a study abroad exchange in New Zealand (Erasmus, just outside Europe), and now I am on Erasmus in the Netherlands.I am also a person with hidden disabilities. More specifically, I have a mental health-related disability, special needs in education, and I am neurodiverse. I am also queer(not disability, but a difference). These things are challenging on their own in my country of origin, so going abroad is something that is bound to bring additional challenges. I've found a few things that work for me, and I would like to share them. You're also welcome to ask about anything you want to know.
Do research beforehand
This is very important. Unlike other Erasmus students, you will face extra difficulties. What support options does your home or host uni offer to those students? Can you arrange them beforehand? Is your host country good at handling people with disabilities at your school? Is your accommodation institution ready? These are all questions you should be ready to answer before you SELECT the destination.
Let your home and host university know. And do it outside of the official forms.
Ideally, before you arrive, contact the disability office directly and let them know your needs. If you need additional financial support, you can also ask your home university for extra funding (my disability doesn't require that, but many do). They do extra funding for this. You should also definitely let your host university know. Ideally, schedule a call with the staff. They will be happy you contacted them in advance, and you are more likely to get support if you flag it in advance. I had a positive experience with this in both New Zealand and the Netherlands; staff at both universities were very helpful and professional, and they did the best they could.
Pack enough meds if possible.
If you are not planning to return to your home country throughout the semester. Make sure you pack enough medications. It is almost impossible to get advanced medications in some countries without prior history. I have not had the unpleasant experience myself yet, but many of my friends did not because they could not get the right medication in time. Also, you should definitely register with the local health provider and get appropriate insurance. You don't want to have a health emergency without cover. In both cases, the registration was very handy.
Focus on finding the right people; it's not necessary to have a picturesque exchange experience.
Do not take into account what people tell you exchange is like. If you have a disability, especially one that affects your socialising abilities. If you don't vibe with some people. Do not think this is your fault. Just keep trying, join clubs that do certain activities, volunteer if possible, join a group. If you don't want to party, don't go. The worst that can happen is that you are going to be forced to do something you are not able to do, and you will feel bad, and everyone else will feel that too. In New Zealand, I was vibing a lot with a local school newspaper and people from my class; while here in the Netherlands, I am vibing with ESN. It's very different across contexts, but in large unis there will always be a group that's your vibe.
If a problem arises, do not be afraid to ask for help. Use the services before things get ugly.
Being alone in a faraway country can be hard, especially for people who do not fit into the conventional Erasmus bubble. If things go south, even a bit, do seek help. Trust me, some people and services can help you. If you communicate your needs honestly, you will be able to get help more easily.
And last but not least, be yourself.
Erasmus is 4everyone. Not just for kids who have perfect lives. Your disability shouldn't stop you from having this experience. I went twice, and I do not regret it at all. In fact, I can say it was very formative and changed me a bit. Your university, the people around you, and you need to be yourself because you belong to this world. Come on, Erasmus+: it might not look like it does on Instagram, but it can still be great despite the obstacles.
If anybody has any questions, let me know.
Dont forget every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top...

Late arrival to Erasmus!!
Hi everyone! I may have to arrive about 2 weeks late to my Erasmus exchange at Sciences Po Lille because I’ll be on another exchange beforehand, and the exam session at my home university AND the one I will be on exchange overlaps with the beginning of the semester in Lille.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Is Sciences Po Lille generally flexible with late arrivals if the reason is mandatory exams, or is attendance from the first weeks strictly required? And how is the attendance policy in general?

Erasmus+ Internship How to find a room in Barcelona
Hi everyone,
I'm moving to Barcelona for an Erasmus internship from December until the end of June, and I'm struggling to find a room. I've been checking idealista, but many listings come with high agency fees on top of the deposit, and I'm worried about scams since I can't view places in person before arriving.
Where do you usually find rooms? Are there any Facebook groups, websites, or areas you'd recommend for someone on a student budget? I'd also appreciate any advice on avoiding scams or what a fair price looks like right now.
Thanks a lot!
