Open | Hardware PC stopped displaying anything

Hi everyone,
Im having a issue with my gaming PC and would really appreciate some help.

PC specs:
Motherboard: ASRock B550 Pro4
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti
RAM: 2x 16GB G.Skill DDR4-3200
OS: Windows 11
PC age: About 1 year

The problem:
5 days ago I had a random Bluescreen with the error code SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (0x3B). I turned the PC off, my monitors didnt receive a signal at first but after some time it was back to normal and nothing happened ever since.

Today after updating my NVIDIA graphics driver I experienced three Bluescreens while gaming. The last error code included:
KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION (0x13A)

After the crash, my PC stopped displaying anything. BIOS booted up after a few restarts but then shut down again and since then the monitors have no signal. The fans spin, including the GPU fans, but the monitor still says no Signal and my keyboard doesnt light up either.
The CPU and DRAM debug LEDs on the motherboard turn red immediately when I press the power button and stay lit

What Ive tried so far:
Tested both RAM sticks individually in slot A2 and other slots
Reseated the 24 pin motherboard power connector
Reseated the 8 pin CPU power connector
Cleared CMOS (I believe?) using the CLRCMOS1 jumper with the PC unplugged
Waited several minutes after starting the PC

None of these steps fixed the problem. The CPU and DRAM LEDs still stay red and I still get no display.
The PC had been working for about a year, and I havent changed any hardware. The only recent change was the NVIDIA driver update.

I believe I might have cleared CMOS, I did it as instructed but I dont know if it resetted, since I still didnt have a display signal! Also Im not very experienced in Pc building and all that so any tips, suggestions and help I would really appreciate it

Open | Hardware Ram Sticks Keep Dying

I9-13000F
5070
850W PSU
B950 PLUS Wifi DDR4
4x 16 GB TForce Delta R DDR4

Those are my current specs but I’ve replaced every part multiple times and this issue remains.

The issue being my ram sticks keep dying roughly 2-3 years after buying them if not even shorter it always starts with one stick failing and I start getting system instability run a memtest and remove the faulty stick, then the next one dies and the next and the next.

I don’t overclock even to the advertised speeds because it causes more instability I’ve been through multiple GPUs, CPUs, PSUs, MOBOs since this issue started happening so I’m genuinely stumped. The first time I thought maybe just a dud batch of Ram but then it just kept happening.

Any ideas or advice? Maybe my outlets but I don’t even know how to go about testing that.

Open | Windows Windows defender firewall “Recommended Settings” Issue

I tried looking this up but what i found was a lot of people saying that clicking the use recommended settings button would do nothing. In my case, it comes up saying ‘some settings could not be changed’ and I am thus locked out of the firewall control panel. Anyone know a fix?

Solved Solution to allow remote access to headless computer

I have a Trigkey Key mini N150 which I use as a Linux server. I don't often need to be on it, but occasionally I remote in from my laptop. Unfortunately I learned I can't remote into it without a monitor. I plan to have it tucked away with some other equipment (don't worry the space has good ventilation), but it is far too small for a monitor.

I was wondering what solutions I might have to overcome this. Is there a software solve or small low power monitors? Not sure what would be best so I can remote in from my laptop when needed.

Thanks!

Open | Hardware PC won't turn on (Keyboard RGB lights up, but shorting power pins gives no fan spin)

Status / Symptom: My PC is completely unresponsive when pressing/shorting the power switch pins. However, my plugged-in keyboard's RGB lights turn on, which means the PSU is providing 5V standby power to the motherboard.

System Specs:

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte A520M K V2
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 (Tested with 1 stick)
  • PSU: Power supply has no physical rocker switch on the back.

What I have already tried so far:

  1. Shorting pwr button pins: Located the correct front panel header (F_PANEL) on the right side near the RAM/24-pin connector and shorted the top-right power pins. Still no fan spin or reaction.
  2. GPU Isolation: Completely removed the RX 580 graphics card and its PCIe power cable to check for short-circuit safety trips. Jumped the power pins again—still completely dead (no CPU or PSU fan movement).
  3. RAM Isolation: Removed 1 stick of RAM and tested with a single stick firmly seated in slot A2.
  4. Power Cables: Checked the 24-pin main ATX connector and 8-pin CPU power connector to ensure both are securely latched.

I have been getting this blue screen for a while, and think i found the cause, but Im unsure of how to fix it

I was playing smash bros and watching youtube on my monitor and noticed whenever the wifi cut out, there was a non 0 chance of it blue screening at the same time of my switch losing internet connection.

It makes me believe its a network/wifi driver error.

How can I fix this step by step?

The monitors logo would appear for a brief second before vanishing (whole monitor turns off and the led power indicator flickers off as well.) I swapped out the video cable as well as the power cable but this keeps happening. Is it time for a new monitor?

Open | Windows Bluetooth headphones only playing on left side on Windows PC

• Upvotes

I have a pair of JBL Lux ANC bluetooth headphones. When I connect them to my phone, they play fine - both sides. When it connects to my PC initially, I do hear the "Bluetooth connected" audio in both ears. However, when I play anything with audio on my PC, the sound only comes out of the left side. I've messed with the sound settings, but nothing has worked or seemed like it would fix the issue. It's a Frameworks laptop with AMD Ryzen 7040

Open | Hardware bought a new one and put it in but now laptop won't turn on , power button light flashes on and off every couple seconds and charging light is on

• Upvotes

I'm not very good with this stuff, I've been trying to get the problem of this for a couple hours now but nothing seems to work, it's a hp omen 16-b series laptop, with a wk04xl battery, my old battery had became swollen and I had only noticed 2 days ago , it wasn't overly swollen but you could see it start , ive had the laptop for around 3 years now , and I've never had many issues at all, I know my ac adapter is a bit faulty but it worked still just would come loose very easily and charge at specific angles. I got the new battery today and I put it in and only now with the battery would any lights come on , at first the charging light was orange for awhile so I let it charge for a couple hours till it was white but then still nothing has happened, everytime I try to turn it on the power button will turn on for like 2 seconds then turn off and without me pressing anything will turn on again and repeat that till I close the laptop, or until both the battery and ac adapter are unplugged, it still does this with either or in , wether it's only the ac adapter or the battery, I attempted to power drain it with taking both the ac adapter and the battery out and holding the button down for a minute and unless I'm doing something wrong with that, it didn't work for me either . I'm really overwhelmed right now, it's been a really rough week and I need this for some school work I have due by Monday and I dont have the money for a repairman or anything new maybe a ac adapter if that's the issue but I dont have a lot of money I'm a unemployed 18 year old student I dont have a lot of money in my hands so if anybody could help I would really appreciate it 🥲🥲

Open | Hardware My GPU is not working properly

I had this issue since i bought the pc, basically my GPU (Radeon RT 6650 XT - Biostar) makes the screen go black, and i have to turn off the pc, and when i restart the fans start spinning and go on a loop of spinning and stopping, it sometimes takes about 10 min to start the pc and when i can finally use it, it acts as if my gpu was not working and i have to uninstall e reinstall the device in device manager. This usually happens when i play a game that requires more of the hardware, e.g (Control Resonant, FC 26, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur’s Gate 3)
I have tried:
- Undervolting and power limiting
- Changing the monitor
- Reinstalling all drivers

I don’t think it’s a power supply issue since no other pieces of hardware are experiencing this.

SPECS:
- Gigabyte B550M
- Ryzen 7 5700
- Radeon RT 6650 XT
- 16gb RAM
- 1TB SSD

Open | Hardware Computer crashes when trying to play games

Whenever I open a game, my computer works fine. It gets the to home/menu screen. I can look round, change settings, etc. But once I load up a save file, it crashes around the time it goes from the loading screen to the actual game. This has happened on multiple games, all that are fairly demanding (Civ6, Civ7, Transport Fever 3, Hogwarts Legacy - all tested over the weekend).

Not sure what the issue is, after poking around at stuff, I'm thinking it might be GPU related due to image 1 below. I've done the Setting-Graphics-Apps-'High Performance' thing that is recommended online. It helped games like Minecraft run normally, but other games are still causing restarts once you get into the game.

I did manage to take screenshots of task manager. Both taken after restart, open game, open file. As file is loading, switch over to TM and take screenshot before game fully loads. Computer crashed about 5 seconds after the GPU usage image.

https://imgur.com/a/UYODLj4

Image 3 also has computer specs.

Specs: ASUS ROG Strix Laptop

Ryzen 9 5930HX

Radeon RX 6800M

16GB RAM (single stick)

Age: late 22/early 23 (can't remember exactly when)

Also trouble shooting tried earlier this week: https://imgur.com/a/jKnAejO

So those are the screen shots from HWiNFO64 when trying to open/play a game. Unfortunately none of that makes any sense to me, so hopefully someone else knows what it means :)

Can say that I don't feel like its thermal. Once i clicked from the third screenshot into the game, computer crashed/restarted that second. My plan was to see what happened when it was simulating people moving (it starts paused).

If I had to guess, for this test, I'm guessing it was trying to render something that was offscreen (and when i clicked in, it moves the camera) and that is when it failed, to the second. But thats just my thoughts on it

Looking for help, or steps to troubleshoot to figure out whats wrong.

Thanks

Open | Hardware Does anyone know what this means?

I’ve been trying to get this dell laptop to work for the last hour and I have no idea what’s wrong with it. it’s a dell Inspiron 5481 2-in-1 and whenever I try to plug it in and boot it up the lights glow, the fan starts and tries to get up and running for a few seconds before everything shut off. after that it flashes amber 4 times and then white once after. I tried booting it up without the battery in it and instead of the lights flashing, it tries to boot then just shuts off. the screen doesn’t ever come on in any of the times I try and I really just want to know how to fix it and if I have to go somewhere professionally to get this fixed or if I can do it myself.

Open | Software iPhone- Any way to block audio permanently?

I personally have a big problem that I can’t seem to solve. Due to health issues, I have to avoid music—and I must be able to do so without the option of turning it back on.

The iPhone 17 plays music, and that’s a problem for me.

I’ve been looking for a way to completely mute the iPhone for music—that is, to completely disable the bottom speakers—but I haven’t had any luck. Apparently, there’s no MDM profile that allows this, nor is there an app or a similar feature via Screen Time restrictions.

There has to be some way to permanently disable the speakers. Why isn’t there a solution for this? I hope someone can find a way—I’d be truly grateful for any help.

Open | Hardware My monitor switches off randomly (flashes no signal and goes blank) while my pc is still on and running.

I swear to god I have tried as much as i can for the past 2 weeks and my monitor keeps on doing the same thing.

I've checked the hdmi, all cables are okay literally I have no idea what to do next. This usually occurs randomly so I've struggled to capture it happening on my phone so I'll do my best to describe it.

My issue:

So what would happen is I turn my pc and monitor on, everything is okay for maybe 20 minutes and so on. Now the only recurring thing I've noticed is that it happens whenever I play a game. So far its been Red dead redemption, The last of us and Bayonetta - those are what I've played whenever that happens so I thought maybe the games were high in demand of high performance so that would cause the monitor to do its thing.

Today it didn't make sense since I just played roblox and out of nowhere my screen went blank while I could hear my friends via headphones on audio. I could hear them and the game but but screen wouldn't show. I tried the windows key shift ctrl B and it didn't work at all. My pc on the other hand was still on so I had to switch it off again (3rd time of the day).

I'm not sure if this is a monitor or cable problem but I'm so lost and I'm not fairly familiar with this sort of stuff.

My card is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060

Open | Windows PC audio randomly becomes extremely loud and bass boosted until I mute everything

My PC audio randomly becomes extremely loud and bass boosted, almost like the bass is maxed out and everything is distorted.

It happens around 4 times a day. It can be triggered by lots of sounds playing at once, but sometimes it happens completely randomly. The only way to stop it is to make my desktop completely silent.

I've tried multiple headsets, and it happens on all of them, so I don't think it's a headset issue.

Open | Software Onn powered by Vizio TV randomly turns itself off (Internet & PS5 already ruled out)

Hey everyone, I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out an issue with my "Onn. powered by Vizio" TV and could use some help.

Every now and then, the TV will just randomly shut itself off.

The Internet Theory: It used to blame my internet connection, giving me on-screen notifications saying it noticed issues with my connection. Thinking the network traffic or some smart feature was crashing it, I disconnected the internet entirely and erased all my Wi-Fi info from the TV. The problem stil/ persisted offline.

The PlayStation Theory: I initially thought my PlayStation might be sending a stray signal, so I went into the settings and turned off the option allowing my PlayStation to control the TV. That didn't fix it either.

Open | Windows Wifi:No WiFi networks found

My WiFi connection on my laptop was really bad so I bought a wireless USB WiFi dongle and it helped so ive been using that for a few weeks. I decided to try use my regular wireless WiFi but all it says is "no WiFi network found". I checked my network adapter on device manager and apparently my wifi adapter is running fine and I also tried unplugging and shutting down my laptop for atleast a minute before turning it on to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. I just tried to use my wifi dongle again and when I hover my mouse over the wifi icon it says im connected however when I click on it I still see "no wifi networks found"

Open | Hardware UPS randomly humming, not on battery power.

Hey guys. I recently purchased a Goldenmate 1500VA/1000W Line-Interactive with AVR, LiFePO4 battery.

Plugged it in to test it with no devices on it, and made the low hum because it was charging the battery. It stopped when it was finished.

Day 2, I hooked up my PC, monitor, and speaker amp to it without issues. No noise from it except for a relay click when turning on the PC. I do turn my PC off when not in use, same with the amplifier.

Day 3, noticed while playing a game that every minute or two it would make this low pitched humming noise and lasts for about 5 seconds then goes quiet again. Repeats this behavior.

My PC, amp, and monitor are only drawing ~450W maximum according to the LCD on the front of the UPS. This is also not drawing from battery power at all, it is fully charged. So it is not being overloaded or anything.

I was concerned about this random hum which i was able to hear over my speakers in game. I let my PC idle a bit to see if it still did the hum, and it did. I then turned everything off connected to the UPS while still being plugged in, also still doing it every minute or two, for about 5 seconds.

Can someone please help me with this issue? The manual says nothing about this, and I have looked extensively around for an answer with no luck. I have no idea why this is occuring.

I tested all my outlets in the room, as well as the UPS outlets and there are no issues there either, no faults. The wiring in the house is fine as well.

Is this a defective unit? I wanted to see if someone possibly had an answer to this problem before I think about returning it. Thank you, I hope to hear back soon. I kept it plugged in and powered on before I left for the day, with everything connected to it off, but I'm still very concerned about this.

Any help or insight would be very much appreciated.

Open | Hardware MSI tpm 2.0 enabling in BIOS

I have a MAG X570S TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI

I recently tried to download and play the new COD game but when launching it gave me the error that TPM 2.0 was not enabled so I could not use online services. I have spent probably a combined 2 hours looking through different YouTube videos and other places but every video I find when they go into BIOS to enable TPM I follow the steps but under trusted computing/security and startup I do not have the same options as far as enabling TPM go available for me to toggle. Recently I figured that maybe since my BIOS hasn’t been updated since I got the pc that could be the issue (BIOS build date 12/17/2021) I’m not a big computer guy so updating BIOS scares me for fear of bricking my computer but I’ll do it if that’s the issue since I like to play online and it doesn’t seem like a complicated process. What is odd to me is that I bought and have played Battlefield 6 since launch and had no issue which I know requires TPM 2.0. I figured this out because I deleted and reinstalled on my SSD and when I went to launch after that it’s also now saying that TPM 2.0 is not enabled. Any guidance would be appreciated. As I’m typing I had a thought that it could be because these games are installed on my ssd instead of the main storage in the motherboard. Idk if that could be an issue or not but as stated any guidance would be appreciated.

Open | Software 93% memory taken up by video games but it only says about 5000mb for some of them. On the "performace" tab on task manager it is picking up 16gb of ram (Which I have)

I don't really know if this is a hardware or software issue. Hoping I don't have to buy new RAM.

Any help is appreciated.
