I struck thriftstore gold

I don't have a steam deck, but I'd like to own one in the future. Imagine my surprise when I found this case for $3.99. I had no idea it was limited edition when I picked it up and only available as part of a bundle. What do y'all think it is worth? I can't find listings for the case by itself to compare, just used bundles.

The only damage is one zipper pull is missing, and the other had teeth marks on the plastic. I think I'm just gonna use some orange paracord to make some diy zipper pulls that match.

I should have checked and seen if they had the steam deck somewhere. It completely slipped my mind. I was several hours from home and keep telling myself that it was likely put into the display case and scooped up immediately, so I didn't miss out by not looking.

Game Review On Deck Update: Stable 60 FPS Native in God of War III Remastered (Steam Deck OLED)

1.5k Upvotes

I have shifted my setup away from Frame Generation and spatial upscalers entirely.

Running the native Linux AppImage build via Steam Linux Runtime, the game is holding a locked, rock-solid 60 FPS natively:

  • No Frame Generation: Interpolation tools (MAKO / LSFG-VK) are fully disabled, eliminating input latency penalties and motion artifacts.
  • No Image Upscaling / Reconstruction: FSR, LS1, and external scalers are set to Off. The game renders at native resolution without post-processing blur or sharpening passes.
  • Frame Pacing & Performance: By bypassing Proton translation layers and running directly on the Vulkan pipeline, frametimes remain flat at 60 FPS with full control responsiveness.

Important Setup Note (Non-Steam Shortcut Launch Fix)

As noted in the community issue/discussion submitted to u/FelipePrado0's repository:

  • When adding gow3-x86_64.AppImage as a non-Steam shortcut in SteamOS, Steam often forces Proton automatically or locks the compatibility tool.
  • Do not use Proton: Because the AppImage is a native Linux ELF binary, running it through Proton (Wine) causes the game to crash or fail to launch completely.
  • The Fix: Go to the game shortcut's Properties > Compatibility, check Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool, and select Steam Linux Runtime.

Selecting Steam Linux Runtime tells SteamOS to launch the binary natively within Valve's Linux runtime environment without invoking Wine, allowing it to boot directly in Gaming Mode.

Software Modding Uncharted 1-3 running on Steam deck via PS4 port

Yes ai has been used, and this is a fork of the windows build that was released 2 days ago. Steam Deck mode has been added to this port to optimize for 30fps on Steam Deck with the potential for higher performance down the line.

I just think this is really cool, because I never thought we'd get these games running on Deck. No games have been confirmed as fully playable as of yet, but so far these are looking much better and more stable than the PS3 versions which the Deck could barely run at all.

Out of curiosity, has anyone been playing Stalker 2 on their Steam Deck lately? I have the OLED TV, but I've heard it's only playable on low settings and runs at 30 FPS.

I just started working and living independently this year. I recently decided to treat myself by buying a handheld since I remembered how much I loved my PSP when I was a child.

I'd very much appreciate it if you could give some things I should know/do to help maximize this and make it last.

• Upvotes

Please PLEASE I really need to fix this problem!!

My legion with SteamOS gets stuck on the spinning logo when I try to open a game, even though the game starts because I can hear the music of the main page!!

I tried to disable the "usa as a wakeup movie" option since it was a common problem but it didn't fix anything!!

Anyone having the same issue?

I’m putting this up in the hopes that perhaps a decent person found it and checks. I was at gate B14. Boarding a United flight heading for Chicago Ohare. Totally tired and not paying attention. So annoyed with myself.

Although the pic shows Esoteric Ebb, I was playing Isaac at the time.

Tech Support Castlevania Belmonts Curse -- They fixed the stuttering! Make sure you update the game

As of this Friday afternoon, they pushed out an update for a black screen issue for high refresh rate monitors but it also seemed to fix the stuttering issues. I'm running the game at 1080p and getting a very steady 60fps. Occasional dips but MUCH better. Default resolution should run a solid 60 with no dips

Tech Support New update didn't fix intermittent connectivity with controllers

• Upvotes

For months, fully-updated Xbox controllers (both series S and X) have had intermittent connectivity issues with the deck while it is docked. There are dozens of reported fixes for it, most of which tell you to update firmware or remove other Bluetooth devices from the area.

It isn't on an exact timer. I've timed the disconnections and they span from 4 minutes apart, all the way to 25. I've done my due diligence going through possible fixes and have found nothing. I've not seen any official recognition of the problem, but a bunch of anecdotal accounts of it happening.

Discussion You don't need anything else

After purchasing every single handheld device, including the Xbox Ally X, Legion Go 2, and OneXPlayer 3, I can confidently tell you that the Steam Deck still provides a better overall experience than all of them. I sold my Deck OLED earlier this year; yes, I was being stupid, and now I am back after selling the OneXPlayer 3. These devices are great; however, I couldnt use them for the only thing I bought them for: gaming. I am here to tell you that the grass is always greener on the other side and the Steam Deck still rocks. Don't experience FOMO watching the X20 or anything else. Also I got the steam deck oled just for 300 bucks with dbrand Killswitch. Got really lucky

Question How can I set up my SD to download EVERY available update every night?

Post image

This is so damn annoying!

I was happy when Valve released the SteamOS feature of downloading updates while in stand by. I set it up to download everything "as soon as possible" and yet everytime I'm grabbing my Steam Deck, I have to update my damn games and some are even pending for "this week" rather than the upcoming night. It sucks. I want it to download updates while I sleep so I can play while I'm awake. Is there no way to achieve this?

Software Modding Animated SteamGridDB screensavers on Steam Deck

With Steam adding custom screensavers to Gaming Mode, I had the idea of using animated artwork from my library while the system is idle.

Steam Animated Screensaver lets you pick games, choose animations from SteamGridDB and prepare them together. You can swap artwork, add a cover next to the title and keep the original framing or crop to 16:9 or 16:10.

It uses Steam’s built-in screensaver support. Once everything is installed, you can close the app and Steam handles playback. No Decky needed, and it works offline after downloading the artwork.

Setup happens in Desktop Mode. You’ll need your own free SteamGridDB API key, then you can prepare your games and install the screensaver. Back in Gaming Mode, select it under Settings → Customization → Screensavers.

I’ve mostly tested it on my Steam Machine and MacBook Air, so I’d love some feedback from Steam Deck LCD and OLED owners. The video was recorded on the MacBook Air.

The project is free and open source. If anyone wants to help, animation smoothness could use more work. Some SteamGridDB animations are already choppy, which becomes more noticeable at full screen.

PS: the music of the clip is Song Of The Forge by Scott Buckley

Promotional been developing my game on the steam deck since day one, demo is up now and it's in steam next fest

hey all,

solo dev here. i've been making slots & skulls, a turn-based roguelite where your weapon is a slot machine and you build the symbol pool it can land on.

the deck has been my main test device since the very first build, so the controls, ui and text size were all made with it in mind, not patched in later. since it's turn-based you can put it down mid fight and pick it up later, which ended up fitting the deck really well. there's also an auto mode if you just want to watch a run play out.

the free demo is already up and will be part of steam next fest (oct 19-26). the full game releases on nov 4.

if you try it on your deck i'd really like to hear how it feels, especially anything about controls or readability. still have time to fix stuff before launch.

Tech Support Battery drains abnormally fast ?

Hi!

I've had a steamdeck oled 512gb for 2 years with no hardware modification.

I've noticed the battery draining by 1% per hour while on sleep mode without any game running. And I dont remember the battery draining that fast before.

I have the latest stable steamos update installed.

The battery is basically draining as fast in sleep mode as if I was having a game running (like Trails on the sky 2nd chapter that I play nowadays).

Does that sound ok to you ?

How can I check battery health? Do I need to recalibrate ?

Thanks for the help !

Tech Support Battery health at 91%

• Upvotes

I've had the Steam Deck for about two years, and I've always checked the battery health frequently. A month or two ago, it was still at 100%, but yesterday, after a period of inactivity (about a month), it had dropped to 91%. The steam deck was completely dead, and had been like that for a month for sure.

I tried calibrating the battery as suggested in some posts on reddit, don't think I followed the steps correctly tho, because after it had discharged in BIOS mode and I put it on charge, it turned on by itself ( Some users said to charge it while it was turned off.) I turned it off manually and then checked the next morning: the battery health was at 92% and the charge had stopped at 77%. I removed the block that prevented the battery from reaching 80% and waited. Now it's at 100%, but the battery health is back up to 91%.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or is it really possible that the battery has deteriorated in just a month? Sorry for the long post and thanks everyone :(
