MLB The r/Nationals NLCS and ALCS Megathread
Obviously, this is r/baseball's time to shine; note that our own u/yousmelllikebiscuits is a key mod there, so the place will be up to his standards.
This thread exists for Nats fans to talk amongst ourselves: please highlight any former Nats doing well in the greener pastures of October baseball (is there anybody other than Foster Griffin of the Guardians left?) and discuss why you like a team still in the show and what they're doing.
Scheduling is relatively simple: Fox/FS1/"FoxONE" has the NLCS and TBS/HBO Max has the ALCS (although TNT seems to be quietly in the mix). This may require some attention.
The official MLB schedule is here:
Also, for those with access to the Post, here's their formerly excellent but now in need of occasional double-checking daily sports listing:

AMA this Tuesday at 11am EST with Nationals beat reporter for The Athletic, Spencer Nusbaum
Hey all! As I've been telling people all year, that was an absolutely fascinating organizational overhaul to cover. A lot of reporting and analysis, of course, was left on the cutting room floor, so hopefully that's where you all come in! Excited to answer your questions, whether it's about the clubhouse, the front office, the owner's suite or any behind-the-scenes reporting stuff you're curious about. If there's something I can answer on the season that was or the winter ahead, hit me!

Former Nat Secret Base's newest video: 'How to be better than perfect'
A look into Mad Max's 2015 campaign. That Tabata at-bat still infuriates me to this day :(

Brand New Jersey
I purchased this Washington Nationals jersey for my brother. It’s brand new never worn. We just realized it wasn’t gonna fit him after we had taken the tags off so now I can’t return it. If anybody wants a brand new jersey maybe send me a DM. It’s not free but maybe half and just shipping. It’s a size 2X.

7 Years ago today, the Nationals swept the Cardinals in Game 4, 7-4, to win the NLCS and advance to the World Series for the first time in franchise history.
Relive the memories, DC. It'll be a while until we gain hope again.

Journalism "Blake Butera, One Year In" — by Jesse Dougherty
Nice write-up about our first-year skipper.

[No Paywall] The Nationals have almost nothing on the books. What could it look like if they spend?

Ban the Dodgers
Huh ... well what about that?
I was told that there wasn't even any point in trying to compete with the Dodgers. Why even bother? They're just gonna win the World Series every year anyway! The Dodgers who --
1) Never set a regular season W-L Record
2) Never set a runs scored record
3) Never set a runs against record
4) Just got their asses handed to them 4-0 in the NLCS.
WE NEED A SALARY CAP TO SAVE US FROM THIS UNSTOPPABLE FORCE!
We're about to get a Milwaukee-Tampa/Cleveland World Series without a salary cap, you dorks.

MLB Daylen Lile has been named a 2026 Rawlings Gold Glove Award Finalist in Left Field

[Nusbaum] Also, this is the first year since Jacob Young became a full-time player that he was not named a Gold Glove finalist. Stiffer competition, as he finished third in NL CF OAA behind PCA and Michael Harris II.

Opinion New alternates?
I know it’s not red white and blue but how do we feel about these?

A deep dive on the Nats farm system
Paul Toboni has built a deep and healthy system in just one year. A lot of things you can do with that including trading some guys for big league talent

Highlight I did not have Zimmermann pitching to Zimmerman on my bingo card for the Banana Bowl
In a crazy night of guest appearances, this one is going to be hard to top.
(Zimm flew out to deep LF btw.)

Tailgaters defeat the Bananas in the first ever Banana Bowl...and the home team still hasn't won a championship game in Nats Park.
Just saying.
At least this game was a lot more fun than World Series games 3-5. But then I'm not invested in the Bananas like I was the Nats. And the Nats did just fine in Houston.

If Nats Park is going to charge as much as they do for everything they gotta be more efficient with concessions
Every line is ridiculous tonight at the bananas and it’s like this anytime it’s close to being full in here. I can’t imagine what it will be like if we’re ever consistently competitive again.
