HYPE Georgia Back In The Lab
instagram.comGeorgia in the gym in Perth (I’m assuming). Interesting to hear the trainer say they’re specifically working on things that’ll impact her game in the W. Can’t wait to see what she looks like next year with an offseason where she doesn’t have to rehab.

Dugalic, Prosper, Betts and Florez first Euroleague game statlines
Dugalic: 15 points (5/8 FG, 1/2 3pt, 4/5 FT), 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in 23 minutes.
Prosper: 4 points(0/3 FG, 0/2 3pt,4/6 FT), 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block in 21 minutes.
Betts: 6 points (2/3 FG, 2/2 FT), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block in 17 minutes.
Florez: 5 points (2/3 FG, 1/1 3pt, 0/2 FT), 5 rebounds, 1 assist in 17 minutes.
Some other things I found interesting:
-Dugalic played as a center. I don't think that position is ideal for her, but these reps could be useful in the future if we need to play her there. Her team played aggressive defense with a lot of doubling and risk-taking. I think it will help her conditioning. She'll seemingly have a pretty big role in the team which is also nice
-Prosper was excellent at rebounding. She still needs a lot of work though. I felt like her team played better without her and looking at the +/- stats, I wasn't surprised. +3 in a 21 point win when you've played 21 minutes is not good. She's very young though, so I still believe she can turn it around. This experience will for sure be useful for her, especially if she continues to play 20+ minutes on a consistent basis.
-Betts did well, but she is seemingly behind Geiselsoder and Meesseman right now. I think she'll push the former one out though, as she's better than her. Looked more confident than she did for the Mystics, imo.
-Florez had a nice drive and scored the one 3 pointer she took. She didn't look 100% fit though, it's clear she is still a little bit tired (she got there recently and I believe she had her first practice with the team yesterday) hence the 4 turnovers. She was also guarder by Anderson on many possesions and she's a good defender who won DPOY one year in Euroleague.
-Brianna Fraser who is teammates with Cass, and Dorian Dahan Sujic, Angela's teammates really impressed me. Fraser is already 29, but Dahan Sujic is 22 and a tall guard/wing and I could see a WNBA team taking a chance on her if this is how she usually plays.

Discussion Lingering Playoffs Malaise and Nagging Questions
Actual Flair: Sad and just a tad bit mad.
Are the Mystics the 8th or even 9th best team in the league? It's pretty clear that we would not have beaten NY so was wide spread league mediocrity the true source of our success? No I am not trying to diminish the team's accomplishment but I have asked myself this question for days on end.
Why in the heck couldn't the team (Austin and Betts) pound the hell out of the Dream centers. I know that Austin isn't a "pound the hell out of kind of center" but Betts should be! Is Okat THAT far ahead of Betts? For goodness sakes Bri Jones is injured and I am generally not impressed w Angel. I am sure that we would have won ONE game if D Bonner wasn't there.
I guess when the NBA season starts I'll forget about these questions - until next year.

Euroleague starts tomorrow and 4 Mystics participate
Angela joined a Serbian team Crvena Zvezda, and she plays first, at noon against Mechelen. Can't say I recognize many players on either team. I vaguely remember Destanni Henderson who plays on the same team as Angela from college and Spanou, also from Angela's team, from national team competitions when she played for Greece.
An hour later, Cass and her team, USK Praha play against Bourges. WNBA players Astier and Buhner both play alongside Cass, and so do Cazorla and Gueye who played for Spain and France, respectively, at the recent WC.
Finally, an hour after Prosper's game, the most interesting game for the Mystics fans starts, as Lauren and Alicia go h2h when Fenerbahce and Valencia play against each other. Both teams have numerous WNBA and national team stars. Should be a good game.
I wish all 4 of our Mystics the best of luck!

Interviews and Content Sydney Johnson exit interview
Thought we should have easy access to this heading into the offseason.
Johnson pays lip service to looking at both free agency and the draft for adding pieces. Of course that is what you expect an executive to say (Winger had a similar comment last winter).
The thing that stood out to me is when he talks about the deliberation over whether to bring in BLH, and how once she arrived she felt like she had been a Mystic from day 1. He reiterated how much the org values the team culture they’ve built, and how they don’t want to lose that with any roster adjustments they may make in the future. Interpret that how you will about which players they may, or may not, pursue …

RIP Heidi Burge (Horton), original Mystic
Read that she died from a glioblastoma, the same thing that killed Neil Peart. Cancer sucks.
As a Maryland alum who's in the same age range, I was at Cole Field House the night No. 1 Maryland took on No. 2 Virginia and the Burge Twins and we lost 75-74. That was one epic matchup. Rest easy.

Mystics streaming viewership up 227% on Monumental
Another sign of how invested the local fan base is in this team and increase in popularity of our players. More winning and hopefully more nationally televised games next season will continue the growth. And just imagine the numbers if local fans could watch without having to pay 😭

Discussion We've got KP money - right?
What? No free agent flair option?
As I understand there are only about 3 or 4 top flight names on the free agent market. Aren't the Mystics about a million under the salary cap? Is Kelsey Plum just what the doctor ordered w her championship playoff experience and all.
And before you say she is not a true point we could use her firepower at the 1.

Dream moving next year- Carefirst officially smallest in the league
Meanwhile, Mystics said in 2025 “Washington’s agreement with the District and Events DC allows for the team to locate up to four regular season games outside of CareFirst Arena.” While also recently claiming 10+ will be moved once construction at capital one is complete. Which is it? https://mystics.wnba.com/news/washington-mystics-announce-multiple-home-game-relocations-for-2025-wnba-season

Thank you Young Hos & fandom <3
I’ve been a loyal Sun fan 8 for years, and of course when I heard they were leaving, I was pretty damn sad. I’d spent most of my teenage/young adult life going to games and didn’t think I’d ever care about another team the same way. I hopped on the Mystics bandwagon fully this year, sharing my time between them and the Sun. I loved getting to see a young team like this succeed, and it kind of gave me a light. This fandom is so ride-or-die for this team, and it makes me excited to root for someone again, when I had previously thought that after the Sun left I wouldn’t connect with another team. Every Mystics fan I’ve met, both here and in person, has been welcoming and very nice, even when I’m disagreeing with them. I look forward to seeing where the team goes from here, and I look forward to interacting with more of you guys in the future. :)
Immediately found several spelling errors, had to edit.

If Citron and Kiki make all WNBA does that mean we have to pay them supermax's now
That would be tough, how will we pay Juju, Kiki, Citron, Shakira and Betts
