Discussion What's your opinion on the Magic Mouse?
I thought It was really weird to use at first because of how slim it is but then I got used to it and now I think it's really good.

Anything I watch looks 2-3 times better on a Mac screen.
The dell and Lenovo screens don’t even have have half the clarity on a Mac.
Even the budget MacBook Neo has a very good display.
Remember the Apple cinemas display? They were very good and even though they weren’t 4k, still very clear.

EDIT: I think I've figured it out. I have mousecape installed, and even though I was not using any capes, and the normal busy cursor was displaying in all other cases, the busy cursor from AshenX has somehow passed through as a static image. GIF: https://ibb.co/396phYdd TLDR: I accidentally spread misinformation online
It showed up when the system became completely locked up by a failing USB stick. I tried Google reverse image search, it showed nothing. AI said that it was a physical insect on my monitor (lmao). This is macOS 26 Tahoe on an external non-retina display btw. The white circle is a part of the cursor too, it moved with the rest of the cursor.

The problem started when i switched of and restarted. I can’t login. I enter my password and it doesn’t work. I did the recovery thing and entered the recovery key and changed. Still not working
Tried the safe mode still nothing. I then entered in the options method after startup loading mode. I was able to enter. I did first aid on the drives. Still nothing
It seems my lock screen is also stuck as it displays a time form a few hours ago when I switched it on rather than current time.
Please help. I use a MacBook Air m1 if that’s relevant

I have tried looking at Disk Utility and it isn't there, I have set the "accessories" setting in privacy and security to every option for a good while and it won't show up. I have both external and hard disk checked in Finder and it isn't there. I have ran first aid in Disk Utility and it still didn't show up. I have even cleaned the ports
I had it plugged in the background and it has been working fine just like it has worked near perfectly the last few months but all of a sudden it just randomly disconnected without my input and will randomly reconnect for like half a second before disappearing again.
I have tested with different SD Cards with different hardware that this is specifically an issue of my MacBook not noticing the adapter rather than the actual SD card itself.

Hi everyone, I'm not very tech-savvy, so please bear with me. I haven't used this iMac in a while, and my husband wants me to sell it. I'm reluctant and would really like to make it work, so I'd love your honest opinion before I spend any money.
My specs:
iMac Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017
3 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5
Radeon Pro 555 2GB
8GB 2400 MHz DDR4
macOS Ventura 13.7.8
What I've tried:
1. Reformatted the iMac and did a clean install
2. Only Chrome is installed, nothing else and noticed it made it even slower
3. Checked System Report > SATA, and the Medium Type is Rotational, so it has a spinning hard drive
I thought to buy a portable external SSD, install macOS on it, and boot the iMac from it. I'd keep the internal drive for storage. I'd rather not replace the whole computer, and I'd like a fix that lasts.
The drive I'm considering:
SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD, USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps), up to 600 MB/s read, 3-year warranty. The 1TB, but I'm unsure whether 500GB would be enough.
My questions:
1. Will booting macOS Ventura from this external SSD make the iMac feel fast, with no major lag?
Is this a good drive for the job, or is there a better or cheaper option?
Is 500GB enough if the internal drive holds my files, or should I get 1TB?
Do I need to upgrade the RAM from 8GB also be worth it, or is the SSD the main fix?
Any problems I should watch for, such as boot issues, drive speed or Ventura support?
I have thought of trading in this iMac but I don't want to spend money so...Is this iMac still worth keeping, or would selling it be the smarter move?
Thank you so much for any advice! Prior to this I asked Claude but I guess I feel like I need a human advice.

Hi. new to this community and Mac itself.
I just bought an M1 pro MacBook pro used. I did a fresh install of macos and is currently running on Tahoe. I wanted to run a full hardware and software function test via AHT. but it's stuck on this screen for 10 mins and I lost patience. The wheel is spinning and I can cancel the diagnostic window.but it's just not going forward. Is it supposed to take this long? Is there any workaround?
Thanks in advance.

I have a mbp 16” M4 max 18/40 with 64gb ram. I run heavy video processing with resolve studio and a few other video and audio DAWs.
I bought the laptop in November 2025, and started having issues about 2 months ago where my external drives, external displays, or hub would start falling off and lose connection and come back. It was annoying and once in a while at first, but it’s happening multiple times a day now. If I have an external drive plugged in to the TB5 port closer to screen hinge on the left side, sometimes it will shut down and report a kernel panic, but not every time and I can’t replicate it. The disconnects only seem to happen when things are plugged in on the left side. It’s becoming more frequent, and now I’m getting issues where resolve is crashing and quitting on it’s own mid project. The laptop doesn’t have apple care, but is still under the original warranty.
All cables are anker TB4 or TB5 except the dock which is an ivanky fusion dock max 2 with supplied cables. Drives satechi and green nvme enclosures, and only other device is a volt 276 interface. I use different combinations of monitors from an innocn 40c1u, an asus pro art 27” an asus pro art 14” and a benq 32” all monitors in any combination have had some level of dropouts.
Does anyone know if making an appointment to have it looked at will get me anywhere without Apple care and that its happening when third party devices are plugged in only?
Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing it, and a possible solution?

Hey friends, I have a 2020 M1 Macbook Air that I've had for a few years. Unfortunately, the wind yeeted it off a table this morning in a meeting and I couldn't catch it in time. There is no visible exterior damage and it still seems to run mostly fine, however the screen is messed up. It's still semi-usable (as I am using it now), but part of the screen up near where the bluetooth/wifi/etc settings bar is, is now just a teal-colored blob and the entire screen is blurry and sometimes shows double, as if the text has it's own shadow. Occasionally when something new loads like a new pap or something, that "image" will stay in the background like a ghost effect for a while until I minimize everything and pull it back up. I'll end up getting a headache if I stay on here too long.
Anyway, I was looking at options and I see that they don't sell this exact model anymore. I use this thing nearly daily. I have a mac mini with dual screens set up at home for most of the heavier work-related tasks, but I do use my laptop nearly every day as well.
My main question, other than if this screen can potentially be fixed, is which MacBook would be closely related to this one? I am not the kind of person to buy a new phone/laptop/etc every year - my phone is 3ish years old now (iPhone 14), iPad Air 11" purchased in 2024ish for work purposes, and the mac mini is my husband's hand-me-down when he swapped to a MacBook Pro something-or-other, so I couldn't tell you what year/model it is at the moment (he is the type to replace his devices way more often than I am, so the only reason I even have the mac-mini is because he wanted a single/all-in-one set-up and plugs his MacBook into a screen to have it act as a desktop. I personally like the separation between the two but also the ability to have most of my documents and things I need for work accessible between all the devices).
I do need decent processing speed as I run multiple windows with multiple tabs opened - I have 4 gmails I have to keep track of, an outlook email, contracts and documents to download/upload all the time, and work with excel/google sheets frequently.
Current specs:
13" MacBook Air M1 chip, 8 GB memory, 500 GB storage, in rose gold. It's been fantastic for me thus far and I would like something as close to it as possible. I saw the Neo could be an option but has less battery life and no backlit keyboard? Would it be best to get a Neo or just get the equivalent Macbook Air 13" with the M5 chip?
I plan on going to look for other open box deals as well, but wanted to get some thoughts from those who know more about these things than I do.
TIA!

I just picked mine up a few days ago and it's the 24 inch iMac M4.
My question is, what resolution do you guys use?
The default one or the 1920 one, because I'm coming from a 1920 display and everything looks super tiny and zoomed out on the iMac using default one. So small that I had to set global page-zoom for all websites to 115% because of so much pointless free space everywhere.
Granted, I've only had this computer for a couple days, so my eyes have not adjusted yet, but I was wondering if , if anybody else sees what I see as well

I have a MacBook Neo (about 4 months) and until this week the battery always behaved normally.
Yesterday I found it completely drained, which had never happened before while it was just sitting unused. I charged it to 100% and unplugged it around 12:20 AM. I didn’t use it after that and left the lid closed.
Today at around 2 PM I opened it and the battery was already at 82%. In less than 10 minutes of light use it dropped to 80%.
When I checked Activity Monitor (Energy tab), Safari showed 199.88 in the “12 hr Power” column, by far the highest value. Every other app was near zero. I never quit Safari (I usually just close the lid with it still open), but it had never caused this kind of drain before.
In the first screenshot (with Safari still open), at 80% battery the estimated time remaining was only about 5 hours. (TEMPO RESTANTE)
In the second screenshot, right after I fully quit Safari (Cmd+Q), the estimated time remaining jumped to about 12 hours at 79%.
The only extension I use is AdBlock, and I’ve had it installed since the beginning. The Mac is on the latest macOS version. Battery health shows as Normal.
Has anyone experienced Safari suddenly starting to keep the Mac awake / drain battery like this after months of normal behavior? Any idea what could cause it to start happening out of nowhere?

[Meta: Please don't shoot! I waited an hour at the apple store tonight for a manager (they were super busy), and had to bounce and pick up kids, so wanted to try my luck here. I'm on the edge of #11 I think. ]
I won a brand new unopened mac mini (m6,16gb, 256gb) at a community raffle - unopened although the plastic is off the box. Has anyone directly experienced turning in an unopened machine for store credit to buy the bigger capacity model? No gift / original receipt. Google is inconsistent in its AI answers.
Thank you.

Just bought my first Mac. What a lot to learn.
I have one dumb question. Is there a way to have “natural scrolling” be different for mouse vs trackpad?

I’m in the UK so the MacBook Air doesn’t come with a charger but the Apple one being £59 is VERY expensive, what chargers are good for the MacBook that are much cheaper? Whilst I’m waiting for that will my regular USB C adapters be sufficient or will it brick my battery?

Opened Messages once, never logged in, just left the sign-in window sitting there. Since yesterday my Mac’s been burning hot. Checked Activity Monitor and Messages was stuck at 100% CPU. Its 12 hr power was ~1,400 vs ~80 for Safari, which I was actually using.
Force quit it and it cooled down.
So if your Mac is randomly hot, check whether Messages is open in the background. Anyone else had this?
M5 MacBook Air, bought this year, on the latest macOS update.
