My iPhone 4S had been sitting in a drawer since forever. It's stuck on iOS 9.3.5 and can't install a single current app. I wanted it on my desk as a small Stream Deck–style control panel for my Mac, and I built the whole thing with Claude Code in one evening.
What it does
8 big keys: 7 Mac apps of your choice, plus a Take note key. Tap a key and the app opens on the Mac.
Take note: dictate with the iPhone keyboard's mic, and it starts a new Claude chat on the Mac with your note.
Now playing: artwork, track, progress, and previous / play-pause / next for Spotify or Apple Music on the Mac.
Internet widget: download/upload speed and ping (macOS's built-in networkQuality), plus a live traffic graph.
Batteries widget: MacBook, Magic Keyboard / Mouse / Trackpad and AirPods, each shown as an icon + percentage.
A big lock-screen-style clock and date.
Hold any key to choose which apps go on the deck.
No jailbreak, no App Store, nothing installed on the phone. The 4S just runs a web page in Safari ("Add to Home Screen" makes it full screen). A small Swift program on the Mac serves that page over Wi-Fi and does the real work: opening apps, reading batteries, controlling Spotify.
