Hi there everyone! I know this is a weird topic but yeah something strange happened. I had this phone since 2020 and I have been taking care of it till I moved to my new phone recently. I may have dropped my phone very very few times but miraculously the screen protector barely cracked (few scuffs and scratches (I use good quality screen protector glass)) and I always as a habit check my phone by removing the back cover (these were around the pandemic). However around 2023, I randomly opened my back cover and I have noticed the crack in the back glass (exactly as in the picture) which is mysterious and strange. During those times I worked from home and occasionally went out. Last time I opened the back cover (phone case) was several days (around a week; 6-12 days) before I opened my phone case to see the crack.
Is there any way how this has happened? There is no direct impact since I use phone case and during those days I never dropped my phone ever at all. I put them on my desk and on my bed (adjacent to my pillow but it doesn’t fall deep into the gaps or never gets stomped/trampled). So no way I broke this phone.
However I sense this is from my sister’s jealousy and negativity (BTW I’m not crazy fyki ). She’s usually a very jealous and envious person and would be jealous for all small things and big things (she once was jealous of what prefix and suffix means (despite being more graduate/educated than me) and was jealous for me knowing the item “Top” means (those beyblade like toys), she was jealous that I have a good public impression in my soceity and she ruined my reputation which costed me a lot) and this was during the time she bought the iPhone 14 Pro max and she damaged the camera lens by herself (due to her carelessness). Usually when something happens to me, I would not tell anybody even if it’s critical, but out of a sudden I accidentally said this to my sister and she was shocked and puzzled (like she knew something). These are just my suspicion.

Hi all
Please assist if you can.
I have around 13,000 photos on my iPhone. A good 9-10,000 of them are my cat, who has just passed away 4 days ago suddenly and unexpectedly.
I have over the last 5 years of having him have always transferred his photos to a hard drive, which I usually did with a USB cable. When I try that same technique now, it lags, freezes and sometimes says they are in a different format HCEM or PNG, no idea why.
I have just explored the option of looking at ICLOUD on my computer, something I've never done. My images seem to of stopped working in 2020 to icloud as it comes up with a message 5GB of 5 GB used - upgrade for 1.49 per month. If I upgraded, would all the images for the last 6 years appear on icloud computer?
Thanks

Hey,
I ordered the Duo on Friday (arriving in 3-4 weeks sadly) and now I’m looking for a proper case. I was pretty confident that I’d just grab the folio case from apple, which looks pretty clean until I realized one thing:
THE CASE ELIMINATES A KEY FEATURE OF THE PHONE!
Since it hides the front screen with its flap, this screen isn’t visible when the phone is unfolded and thus the whole camera shenanigans that apple proudly showed during the presentation won’t work with their own 130$ case. Am I missing something here or is this thing just a enormous fail in design? Strangely all reviews / previews of this case I saw on YouTube don’t mention that which to me is pretty wild. Anyway, since that case is out of question (front flap reminds me of grandma android phone anyway), any of you have recommendations for a nice, slick case?
Edit: to the people downvoting: can you at least tell me what I’m missing and where I’m wrong? Or is criticism of apple not allowed here?

iPhone 16. I’m in doubt since the screen is completely fine.

My iPhone 11 Pro Max fell face-down. The main 1x camera now shows a black screen, but the ultrawide and telephoto cameras still work. For the first two days, it was shaking and making a buzzing noise when I opened the Camera app. Now the noise and movement are gone, but the camera is still black. Any idea what’s wrong? Is the camera module damaged? 🤔

I dictate most of what I write on my iPhone, and I'll be blunt: Apple's built-in dictation is bad compared to what exists now. In my experience Wispr Flow is top class. I daily-drive Spokenly, which lets me plug in my own API keys, so best-in-class dictation costs me basically nothing. Better alternatives are right there. iOS just won't let them work properly.
The restriction
iOS does not let custom keyboard extensions touch the microphone. Apple's own documentation lists "No access to microphone and speaker" among the keyboard restrictions: Configuring open access for a custom keyboard. Even after you flip on "Allow Full Access," recording from inside a keyboard simply doesn't start. So Apple's own keyboard gets a working mic button, and no third-party keyboard can have one. Developers have asked Apple directly whether this is intentional and whether a consented path is planned. No answer: Apple Developer Forums thread.
Why I think this is anti-consumer
Apple has not shipped dictation on par with the best third-party apps. That's fine. Nobody is best at everything. But if Apple can't make polished AI dictation on par with Wispr Flow, it should at least have the spine to let other apps use the mic seamlessly. I can't prove intent, and I'm not claiming some conspiracy. I can see the effect, and the effect is that the weaker default stays comfortable while the better apps are stuck being annoying to use. To me, that feels anti-consumer, full stop.
What the better apps are forced into
Because the keyboard can't record, dictation apps have two ugly options, and users pay for both:
If this restriction exists for privacy, it's achieving the opposite. I don't want an always-on mic. I want every recording started by me, with clear indicators, and the mic released the second I stop. Today's workarounds push apps toward longer-lived sessions instead. How is that the privacy win?
Apple has already done this. On the Mac.
On macOS, these same dictation apps request microphone permission and, through supported mechanisms like global shortcuts, record while you're in another app. You invoke it, it records, the mic is released when you're done. I'm not saying macOS is a free-for-all or that every desktop app works identically. I'm saying Apple has clearly shipped exactly this class of capability on one of its own platforms. "It can't be done safely" is off the table. It's done. Just not on the device I dictate on most.
What Apple should build
A first-party iOS capability that lets a third-party dictation keyboard request mic access the moment the user explicitly starts a recording:
The safeguards are the point: explicit user initiation every single time, the standard mic privacy indicators, immediate termination on stop, no silent activation, normal permission revocation, full compatibility with iOS background-execution and extension security rules. I know this isn't a weekend project, and API design is Apple's job. The ask is simple: let users hand a dictation keyboard mic access on demand instead of forcing persistent sessions or app ping-pong.
Why it matters
Real dictation competition pushes Apple's built-in option forward, and it matters for accessibility and hands-free text entry, not just convenience. To be fair: I'm not claiming Apple blocks competitors on purpose. This smells more like an old rule nobody revisited while dictation tech moved on. But the reason matters less than the result, and the result is users stuck with worse tools.
Questions
If this annoys you too, file feedback and say so: apple.com/feedback (or Feedback Assistant with a developer account). Ask for a privacy-conscious, user-initiated mic mechanism for keyboard extensions. Apple reconsiders old rules when enough people make noise. Make noise.
TLDR: Third-party keyboards on iPhone can't start the mic and stream audio from the keyboard itself. Apple's built-in dictation is weak, apps like Wispr Flow and Spokenly are far better, and Apple allows this kind of access on Mac. Letting users grant on-demand mic access to a keyboard they chose is the fix. Please file feedback at apple.com/feedback.

Does anyone know why my iPhone 14 suddenly shows this random white loading box ?
I’m worried that technician might took my explicit photos and videos from my phone. They did ask for a passcode. how long does display replacement usually take? it took around 25 mins overall for my case . I was watching him from behind but his body was covering.and he touch ig his phone whilst repairing and left with my phone to their parts shop right across for like 10mins. so the replacement was like 15mins.i had around 9gb+ vids hidden in photo app. can he be airdropping while he took the phone away? how long does it take to airdrop 9gb+ total vids ? please im really anxious rn as those were with my ex which couldnt lead to leak no matter what.

If I'm using iPhone Handoff on TMUS, and then I roam internationally, is the feature still supported on roaming partners? Or even if I'm paying for it on TMUS, if the roaming partner doesn't support it, I'm SOL?
So I have a current iPhone (64gb) and I recently bought an unlocked iPhone with more storage (256gb). I’m trying to transfer everything from the current phone to the unlocked one, so my question is will my carrier info (T-Mobile) also show up when I do the transfer or do I have to get that done through them? Please excuse my ignorance this is my first time doing something like this.

My iPhone 14 suddenly got extremely difficult to charge in the charging port, I tried all the usual steps one would when encountering this kind of issue. I had to use my power bank with wireless charging. Incredibly I found that that if I turned it off and plugged it in, it’d charge first time, Every time.
Has anyone else encounter this and knows how to charge it while powered on again?

I did the big comprehensive data migration for an iphone upgrade from an iphone 8 to an iphone 16e about a week ago. I was still using the iphone 8 afterwards because I had not switched cellular carriers yet, so i made changes to existing Notes files, played games with saves that now have 10+ hours of data updates, etc. etc.
Today, I finally had time to switch cellular carriers, and I'm wanting to preserve the incremental changes in a handful of files on the old phone by updating those same files in the new phone.
Is there any way to add these small changes in file data from the old phone to the new phone now that I've finally changed cell carriers? I already tried prompting AirDrop with wifi and Bluetooth on for both devices, but nothing happened. Also tried linking them with a direct cable (Lightning to USB-C), and nothing happened.

If the phone gets wiped completely after it becomes unavailable, can one make a new apple id on it and use it normally again?

Hello, I was taking photos of my daughter and noticed these weird on screen glitches? I don’t know but I have never seen them or had this happen ever before on any photo I have taken on an iPhone. I have had an iPhone since the 6 and have never seen this. Does anyone know what this is? Have you experienced this?

Hey everyone, I’ve been having a super frustrating issue on my iPhone 17 running the latest iOS update, and I wanted to check if anyone else is experiencing this or found a permanent fix. Basically, whenever I turn off my cellular data (or toggle it off for a while) and then turn it back on, my push notifications get completely "frozen". I stop receiving anything in real-time.. especially on Instagram (DMs). (im still figuring if it’s happening in other apps like gmail and more)
The notifications only pop up if I manually open the app. It’s like iOS fails to wake up the background sync for third-party apps once the connection is restored. Background App Refresh is ON, Low Data Mode is OFF, and I’m not using Low Power Mode. I’ve already tried restarting and toggling notifications on/off, but nothing works. Is this a known bug with the latest iOS release or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I dropped my phone and 30 minutes later a vertical white like appeared on the screen just like the picture attached. Fyi my screen is cracked from 2 yrs ago, this means they will probably will replace the entire screen. How much do you think this will cost.

I’m looking for help on my photos changing quality once I take it 😭 Going on a trip soon and the last thing I want is terrible photos 🥲 Advice to help fix this is greatly appreciated 🥹
First photos is what it’s supposed to look like - the other two is either making it super saturdays or way too bright. Have to go into my live photos editor to bring it back to normal looking…
Currently on standard mode and I read to turn off “Prioritize Faster Shooting” and turning off “View Full HDR” but that doesn’t work.
PS. The preview on my phone screen looks fine. And it happens to anything (regardless of if it’s on a TV or not) then I’ll go to the photos app and it changes.
