Share Grades/Classes How can I force myself to do school work?
Okay so for context I guess, i‘m a freshmen and it’s just past midterm. Bullying has always been rough which impacts my mental health among other things.
So i’ve missed 38 school days, and only attended 13. I know, its bad. But since i've missed so much school already, my grades have FLOPPED (as shown above).
I cant even count the amount of assignments missing but i just don’t know where to begin. (PE isn‘t shown but i’m fine in that class).
My depression is just hitting hard and I have little to no motivation to do anything. I have until late November but even so, I doubt I’ll be able to catch up.
I feel like a new student, but most of my teachers are cutting me no slack.. and the thing is I know I have to. I don’t want to retake any classes next year. But I worry as if i’m going to have to.
Does anyone have any tactics on how to motivate myself to? Or where to start? I reach out to teachers every day so the resources are like available I know how to GET help. I just don’t know how or where to begin.

General Advice Needed/Given Need advice
I’m writing this in my notes app, I’ll post it in the morning. I’m in 11th grade, and I’ve been doing virtual school since the 6th grade. I feel like I wasted all these years. It started when I got an email saying the date for picture day. That email got me thinking about what I did this year. After I couldn’t think of anything, I tried thinking of what I did since I started virtual school. I remembered going to a Halloween party in 2024, going to Burlington, and going to Miami in 2026. I met two people in this timeframe, one of them had to leave permanently since she was in the Philippines and the distance was too much for her. The worst part? She said she loves me. I still miss her. The other one has been responding to me less and less. In Miami I tried giving 2 people my discord, and they didn’t accept my request. I’m about to get my driving learners permit. I feel like I’m barreling toward 20 and I have nothing to show for it. This is my last Halloween before I turn 18. Since I had to remember all of this to write it down, I had one of the breakdowns I haven’t had for about 2 years, my chest got tight to the point I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk, I could barely walk, and I felt drained of energy. Do you have any advice to fix this?

Extracurriculars im recruiting members for a passion project guys help
im starting a project about mental health for teenagers! first, read the stuff i uploaded on tiktok first ⬇️
“ ‘ a friend first ' is a youth-led initiative bringing together young people across languages and cultures to explore social challenges, reduce stigma surrounding youth mental health, and promote compassionate peer support through education, and international collaboration!!
please note that this is for founding members!! if interested plz comment or send me a message!”
so basically theres a program in korean schools that get teenagers to become a sort of therapist and counseler to kids that need help emotionally and mentally. its called ‘ddorea sangdam’. ddorae meaning ‘the same age or similar age’ and sangdam meaning ‘consultation’. so i got an idea to start a project where kids all around the world can talk to different people and maybe get comforted or even heal a little from..everything! so im trying to find the founding members of this whole project! im aiming to build a website that provides connections between students that need help! also at the same time and because im a korean, ill be connecting korean students and english speaking students all around the world to exchange cultures and languages!! soooo if you’re interested in cultural exchange, human rights, mental health, social issues, or simply working with people from different backgrounds, I’d love to have you on board!!!
the project is still in its early stages, so I’m looking for founding members who want to share ideas and help shape its direction with me.
okay i just reread that and i have no idea what im talking about lol if u have questions just ask me in the comments plz

Dating Advice Needed/Given How do I talk to a guy im interested in?
I(ftm sophmore) am in a geometry class with my friend, and there's this senior(m) in there that helps out the teacher and other students. (Also, ik that gap relationships in high-school are kinda frowned upon, and I know how bad they can end up as I've been in one, so just know that im aware of how it could end up.) Im pretty interested in him as he's very sweet and helpful, but I have no clue how to talk to him during class. Sometimes I'll ask him for help on questions or where he shops for clothes, but other than that, I dont know how to properly talk to him and become friends/get to know him. I dont even know if he's gay/bi, but either way, I want to at least be friends with him.
Any tips on how I could talk to this guy would be greatly appreciated!

Share Grades/Classes Chrome extension to add a what-if mode to the Aeries gradebook website
If you use Aeries, you probably know how annoying it is to calculate what you need on the next test to save your grade.
I built a free Chrome extension that adds a small calculator. You can add mock assignments, change existing scores, or delete bad grades to see how your grade will be affected.
Chrome Web Store link :https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/aeries-grade-calculator/dmambbnjadglkainpnjfidolknpdoljm
Let me know what you think or if there's anything you want added to make it better :)

Rant Medication is so amazing
I'm in grade eleven this year (high school in Canada starts in grade ten) and I've spent the last six years of my life with severe clinical depression, on top of ADHD, autism, and some generalised anxiety disorder. Last year I finally got these things diagnosed and medicated, and by the start of this school year I'd reached a good dose of ADHD medication and antidepressants. And goodness gracious. Is this how everyone lives??
So the thing is, I'd gotten used to being a straight A student whilst inside the Torment Nexus. Now that I'm out, I don't really have to try to maintain a 100 average. I don't have homework because I do the homework during class. It's amazing. I never realised most people could just. Do things. ADHD medication is a miracle.
Even better: the antidepressants have allowed me to feel things other than terrible, hollow, gut-wrenching sorrow. Which means I'm more social, because I'm not constantly contemplating my death.
So last year in social studies I was put next to this girl in the seating plan, because we're sorted alphabetically. Then the teacher proceeded to assign us 8 billion group projects, all of which were to be done with the person next to you.
I am so used to having to take on the leadership role. I did not have to. She did not have to. I have never done a group project that went so smoothly as those ones did. It was like our thoughts were connected.
Once the class started actually doing social studies discussions, there was a guy who had really stupid beliefs about trickle-down economics. Together, this girl and I debated him into the ground. It was beautiful. We spent the entire year chit-chatting in the back of the class. Mostly about medical racism and historical fallacies, which were related to the social studies curriculum, but we were doing our own thing. We spoke french to one another, and recited poems, and traded contact information. It turned out she had the exact same sense of humour as me, which is a little bizarre.
Over the summer I debated sending her a message, but wasn't sure if it would be weird. Maybe we were just "in class friends." I'm not good at knowing how that type of thing works. It turns out she was having the same internal debate, and in the end she messaged me. When we got our timetables for this year, we discovered that we share every single class. I spend like 7 hours a day talking with this girl. I've never met someone who fitted so perfectly with me. I never get tired of talking to her. One weekend we arranged to go to the big library downtown together; we spent six hours in that library. We would have stayed longer if her mother hadn't called. For the first time I didn't feel tired out by social interaction.
Later, she invited me to her house to meet her mother. After confirming that I got good grades and didn't have a boyfriend, her mother approved of me and explained how boyfriends will ruin your life. I had to give my friend the "does he know?" look; we're both lesbian.
We spent the entire day looking after the kids and grinding cinnamon and making cookies and knitting and practicing handstands. When I left I bowed to her mother, which was received very well; I was told that we should stay close friends for ever and that I should come again soon. My friend hugged me when I left.
A few more weeks passed in which we talked for hours each day at school. We spent almost three hours yesterday night talking online and playing Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe. Last night, we did the same thing, except I taught her Go. None of my friends have ever agreed to play Go with me before.
Tomorrow we're going to go to the library again. She gets on the train one stop ahead of me, so I'll wait for her at the platform like a wife watching her husband return from war. I'm going to bring Go.
To think I might never have come to know her if I never got medicated.... Moral of the story is to get diagnosed kids

Question 15M how do i actually talk to girls? need advice
Hey everyone, I’m 15M and really want to start dating, but I’m honestly just terrible at talking to girls. Physically I think I’m doing fine—I’m a pretty good height, decent looking, and I run cross country so I'm in good shape. My issue is social skills because whenever I try to talk to a girl I like, my brain freezes. I never know how to start a conversation or keep it going without it getting awkward, and I overthink everything. How do I stop being awkward and actually hold a conversation? Any tips on how to approach someone or what to talk about would be huge.

Class Advice Needed/Given My friend asked me to critique his essay. I’m more concerned.
galleryHello! My (17M) friend (16M) recently asked me for assistance on what seems like a pretty monumental essay for his grade. He sent me his finished piece, and .. well. I was shocked.
He’s a junior in high school (11th grade), and I’m a senior (12th grade). This writing isn’t gibberish, but it’s.. It looks incredibly barren for what someone his grade should be writing.
I was beginning to markup his paper when he told me to stop, because he turned it in and got a perfect mark. Am I crazy?! I wasn’t even finished editing the first paper when he messaged me that he’d gotten an A.
I really feel like the school system just wants to push him out and isn’t taking any time to build his essay-writing or general english skills. Apparently, he told me it’s the same with mathematics (he expressed that he knows he’s delayed when it comes to mathematics).
Am I being hypercritical, or is this essay just not up to par? A few of our other friends told me I’m just being an asshole, but I’m genuinely concerned that they’re just passing kids because they don’t want to spend the time honing their academic skills.
I’ve offered to tutor him and he accepted, but our other friends say I’m dragging it out and that it isn’t this serious.
What about when a college asks for a 10-pager? What about any college work, actually??
Help!!! 😭 This is kind of an AITA post, I just really need a second opinion.

Question How to study history effectively in highschool?
I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore. I failed my 2 exams, which I have studied for. It’s not like I didn’t study. I literallh started a week before, read a book, take some notes from it, and a day before the exam I summarize and review everthing.
As much as I like history and respect the subject itself, I fail most of my exams. How should I study to be effective?
