I was fishing a very small pond and found this. There was a group of them and I thought it was just a carp at first but now that I keep looking at it, it looks like those live tilapias they sell at those asian grocery stores.

I use to buy these orange jig heads from Walmart. I live in Florida idk if that matters. They were glued on eyes. Orange with a black leopard king of print. Black hook. Can’t remember the name but I swear it was St. something. Can’t find them at Walmart of online but I caught so many fish with them. Here’s the best pic I could find.

Buddy took me out salmon fishing yesterday and I think I found my new favourite hobby. How much would a decent setup+waders run me? Don’t mind spending a little but don’t want to break the bank.

Took the kayaks on the Llano in Junction on Saturday and Wade fishing in Junction on Sunday.
Flows were a bit high but we got into a few species.
Guadalupe bass were the primary target.
Water was clear ~4-5’ visibility in the deeper holes.
Beware of the rapids though.
Buddy flipped his kayak and lost 2 fly rods but we got the rest of his gear once we got out of the rapids.

Figured I’d share some of my best from the year. Big fan so far. Thankful to have the free time & to be able to spend it outdoors.
I mostly fish local ponds in the Chicago suburbs but sometimes find myself a little further north when I’m feeling froggy.
It’s incredible how much information is out there. I got overwhelmed at first trying to learn it all but really had my best days keeping things simple.
Thanks for looking. Tight lines, everyone.

These are all my fishing rules for my spinning rod (10-44grams rod) I fish on salt water, any other must have lures I should invest to ?

For Reasons I've decided I want to find and catch a Roanoke Bass. Problem is... well, I figured it would be a lot easier than it would be before I actually looked into things. I live in Edenton NC, and I'd like to find a place where I could drive there and back to catch one in a single day. And looking at their range on the NAS map, I should have options- in theory. There's two main areas- west of where the Chowan River intersects with the Virginia border, and the Tar River area north of Rocky mount. The problem is verifying that there are any actually present right now. I checked out the areas on Fishbrain- almost all the recorded "rock bass" or "roanoke bass" were warmouth. However... I did still find a few true Roanokes/rocks listed for those areas. And the scant records aren't very surprising considering just how out of the way those places are. So... can anyone who's been around those regions let me know if you've came across any presence of them there?

Few catches this year from Michigan. Determined to catch the state record before I die. All from public lakes.

I’ve been thinking about getting out on the water more often on weekends. Hooking up the boat, heading to a lake, and spending the day fishing sounds like a great way to unwind.
Besides the usual gear, I’d be using a fish finder and trolling motor. I’m still trying to figure out how much battery capacity makes sense for a full day out without carrying more than I need.
For those who fish regularly, how do you decide what battery size is right for your setup?

Was a struggle, but eventually put him in the boat.

Going to Dallas n while I’m there I wanna try bass fishing, and since I don’t wanna buy any tackle when I’m there I wanna bring this box in my luggage (not carry on) but with the hooks and jig heads do you think I’ll get stopped or should I even have an issue with passing this through tsa

What's this used for and is it good for Galveston water ?

My first ever pike. And it was quite a big one for me and i felt the adrenaline.
Quite easy to get him out, easier than expected.
And the fish even took the hook out by itself and crawled back to the water. I just helped it a bit.
As a new fisherman i have been very active for the last 5 weeks. Only fish i caught so far was a perch/bass.
This perch gave me bad vibes because of the trebles on my bait (those trident hook things). Lot of trouble removing and all. Fish died and i wanted to do something about this.
Yesterday i tried again, but this time i had replaced the trebles with single hooks.
Feeling inspired i casted my bait under a bridge because it looked like a chokepoint for fish to travel through.
It worked on the 4th cast!

I may be overthinking this but I’ve been thinking on this for a good while now. I’m trying to figure out a way to get out of bank fishing and really get into the depths rivers in my area. I only bass fish with the occasional micro fishing. But I have a bunch of rivers in my area and but banks are just completely unreasonable to cast with a 7 1/2’ pole. So therefore if I’m trying find out what kind of boots or boots and pants to wear in the water to get off the bank a good few feet.
The obviously answer are waders but from what I’ve seen online, it isn’t reasonable to wear waders when your constantly walking up and down terrain for hours on end plus they are heavy apparently. The water is beginning to turn cold and most rivers are primarily rock with thick algae so my experience with bear feet typically ends up with me submerged in water 🤣.
The only other thing I can think of are just your typical rubber boots but after shin height I’m lugging around boots full of water and it ain’t always fun with wet cold feet.
So I’m just asking if anyone’s had an experience with any specific gear that may help with my quandry thatd be nice

This is as much a vent as it is a question. Previous two years I had a ton of catches with all manner of paddle tail lures in most of my spots. Mostly bass in the day and walleye at night, which was awesome. Nothing really changed this year, other than I’ve had way less luck with that style lure. So I’ve been trying to figure out if maybe I’m using the wrong jig/plastic combos. I know I’ve always used Rage Swimmer and Swing Impact Fat type plastics. But I’ve been buying all sorts of random jig heads and still not having much luck.
So I guess the question is, what jigheads do you use for your paddle tail plastics? Weight/brand of jighead and length of plastic would help!

We packed up for a stunning 2-day hiking and fishing getaway up near Mammoth, taking in the gorgeous changing fall colors, quiet trails, and crystal-clear high-elevation alpine lakes. From getting into some great trout action on a Carolina rig with orange PowerBait to hiking around the breathtaking, glass-like waters of Lake George ], it was the ultimate autumn escape.

Will be fishing in Colorado for the first time, reading through the regulations I came across a statement that confused me a little bit what are your thoughts.
"Common hook” means any hook or multiple hooks having a common shank. All hooks attached to a manufactured artificial lure shall be considered a common hook.
Are we saying a crank bait with two treble hooks is still a single common hook?

I just purchased a Husky 22 in. Connect Rolling System Tool Box and I intend to use it for my fishing gear. Has anyone else decided to use a similar set up?
Just curious of the pros and cons others have run into?
TBH it will likely just sit in my garage and will hold several smaller plastic inserts for specific species/type of fishing /Area. Ill just grab what I am fishing for and go.
It seems to have good size compartments and it has a slew of attachable options.
My current tackle box at home is out of room and I am not a fan of what is available. I like to fish with a small sling bag from shore. I don't like carrying a lot of tackle with me. As I mostly fish when I can. Lunch break, after work, from the beach, river shore, bay shore, pier or any where i get an extra hour. I dont often have a full day trip for fishin.
It seems like it would be a good tote for a multi day charter fishing trip also. I could literally pack all my clothes and tackle in it for a 4 day trip.
