Help I need your help

I’m begging for a little help from the bass fishing community.

That’s me in the first photo. The second photo is my friend Geoff, holding a big bass with a huge smile because this guy absolutely loves bass fishing.

Geoff is a local PNW bass angler and genuinely one of the best people I’ve ever met.

When I was new to bass fishing and struggling to figure any of this out, Geoff took me under his wing. He taught me an unbelievable amount, took me fishing, shared places with me that he absolutely didn’t have to share, and helped me become the angler I am today.

The third photo is what’s left after Geoff and his girlfriend lost everything in an apartment fire.

I recently made a short video about what happened, and 100% of the money that video makes is going directly to Geoff.

I’ll be honest. I really hoped the video would take off. A lot of people have rallied around it, and it has received an incredible amount of Hypes on YouTube, but it still hasn’t reached enough people to become what I hoped it could be.

So I’m coming here to ask for help.

I’m not asking anyone here to donate money. I’m asking if some of you would be willing to find the video, watch it, hit the Hype button if YouTube gives you the option, leave a like or a supportive comment, and help push it a little further.

If even a fraction of this community gets behind it, I genuinely believe we could turn a 3-minute fishing video into a meaningful amount of money for a fellow bass angler going through one of the hardest moments of his life.

And if we can make that happen, that money won’t be from me. It’ll be from all of us.

I want to make a follow-up video when I give Geoff everything the video earned, and I want everyone who helped make that happen to be there for that moment. Every view, Hype, like, comment and share will have helped put that money in his hands.

I’ve tried everything I can think of to get this video moving. At this point, I’m just asking the bass fishing community for help because I don’t know what else to do.

Geoff has done more for me than I could ever repay.

Ruined +200 baits learning clear coat. Here's what finally gave me a perfect finish

It doesn't matter what clear resin you use - epoxy, UV, whatever. Every resin needs the same conditions met to give you a perfect coat: cleanliness + paint properly sealed/varnished and then washed.

What I do:

Before any paint, I always wash my blanks. Warm water + dish soap + soft sponge. Good scrub, thorough rinse, completely dry.

After painting I always seal it. Everyone uses different paints, so you need to find what works for you - varnish, spray lacquer, etc. and test it.

Why? It closes the tiny pores in paint that trap dirt and grease super easily. And once it's varnished, you can actually wash the bait without ruining the paint.

And that's the key - once that varnish is fully dry, I wash the baits again exactly the same way. Warm water, dish soap, sponge, rinse, dry. Only then are they ready for clear resin.

That double wash is what gives me that perfect finish every time.

Hope it helps!

Help Help analyzing and understanding my pond. (largemouth fishing)

The first picture is a picture of my pond during a very bad drought in 2011. The second is what my pond looks like more recently. I'm not new to bass fishing but I'm new to actually understanding bass fishing. I was watching a TylerReelFishing video and he was talking about looking at your pond with Google Earth's history feature, specifically looking for a drought photo. Why is this important? What does this tell me? How should I move forward?

(my bad, i don't own the pond! i just frequent it lol)

Tackle/Equipment New reel decision

My cheap Abu Garcia Baitcaster recently broke and I need a new reel. I can’t decide between the Daiwa Tatula X TW 100 or the Shimano SLX XT 150hg. Any suggestions? Only big difference I have seen is the tatula has magnetic brakes while the xt has centrifugal. Edit: I plan to run 20 pound yozuri braid and 10 pound seagur fluro leader

Coldest day of the Fall season in NY, Temp dropped 20 degrees overnight. 15mph winds today. Hauled the yak out anyway. Feeling like I need to fish every chance I get.

A sad day

I’ve been fishing a local golf course for several years now. Not the biggest fish in the world, but during the spawn 4 to 6 pounds would be a nice one the rest of the year you could still catch 2 to 3 bounders. Anyways, they just announced on Facebook. They had to close the golf course to Fishing. They didn’t really allow officially more like tolerated it, but turns out some kids were leaving trash. Somebody got a bunch of braid tangled up in a fountain pump I’m gonna miss it. It was five minutes from my front door.

Catching bass for Noah

I used to take Noah fishing when he was young but unfortunately for him I’m not the best angler. He loved fishing and even though we never caught much he had a great time. He did mention once or twice that he wished we could catch more fish. Noah passed away in a motorcycle accident 5 months ago. I decided to quit drinking and try to learn how to fish properly. Here’s a few pictures of some of my catches this past couple months. I wish Noah could be here to finally catch something decent.

Went out for training yesterday. Morning was dead quiet, no wind, no clouds and super sunny made it incredibily difficult to fish. Around noon a slight breeze came up and it was a game changer. Found few fish around some weed hunting on baitfish. Took advantage of the situation to improve my skills with the midstrolling technique and it paid off. Biggest at 7.4 (3.8kg) all the others aroun 4.4/5.5 (2/2.5kg). Currently I’m the only foreing guide on Biwa lake. For any info about fishing in Japan feel free to pm me.
