Debate/Discussion Why has my ENTP friend become so cautious and distant around me?

There's something I'm curious about. Around a year ago I made an online friend who is an ENTP. We got along pretty well. From joking around and fooling around to discussing deep topics, in short I could talk to him about pretty much everything. After we first met he used to talk a lot and I would also joke around with him about different things and we would just laugh about it.

And it's worth mentioning that he has never flirted with me in any way and nothing from my side has reached him in that way either which is why I have a certain level of respect for him.

And beyond all the silliness, he is also a good and helpful person. I can tell that even though he jokes around and playfully bullies his real life friends, he also takes care of them.

But for the past few months, he hasn't really initiated conversations with me as much as he used to. It's not that he ignores me, he is still quite kind to me and he still responds when I want to have deep conversations with him. But I feel like he has become very cautious when talking to me. He isn't as carefree with me as he is with his other friends and he doesn't say whatever comes to his mind as freely as he used to. He has become calmer and gentler  and he also maintains a bit of distance from me.

And even when I ask him if any of my behavior bothers or annoys him, he just says that I'm not bothering him at all, not even a bit.

And yes he knows about certain things that have happened in my life because of which he might think that I'm a very stressed, hurt and fragile person.

But I don't really present myself as a melancholic person in our conversations. I've just been honest with him that yes, some things in life make me sad but I genuinely believe that I can handle myself.

But his behavior makes me feel like he still sees me as a very sad person lol.

Because of his calm and gentle attitude, I also feel awkward joking around with him the way I used to. So now I'm even calmer around him than before and I can't say any dumb things anymore.

Now I can't figure out why he is being overly cautious and maintaining a bit of distance from me.

Advice How can 2 people talk every day foe months and than randomly stop

Hi guys, do id appreciate your insight on this cause its bugging me lmao. So i met this girl online and we have been talking every day since june, texting, sending image replys in chat on ig and so on. I think shes one of the only people i got so close to in such a short amount of time. Its like we clicked instantly. She loved sharing what was going on in her life and genuenly seemed interested in mine too. We talked like this for 7 hours a day whenever we were traveling or so we were texting sharing reels and so on. She new me better on an emotional level than my friends back home. Four days ago i would say, she replied to my photo that i sent and also to my texts and that was it. When i woke up i saw tht she didnt send a photo back but engaged normally otherwise. I replied to her and than silence. 24h nothing although she was posting ig stories that whole time. I texted her the next day like hey whats up, u alive? And she js wrote yes. Later i asked if shes good and she replied and also asked why im wandering that and i was like idk youre distant and she tells me im not people js anoy me recently. And the part of this that i dont understand is why people do this. We played leage the night before that, joked arround it was all good and normal. It could be that i got to attached cause i did genuenly like her and she was sending positive signals back but still i dont understand how you can he that close to someone, tell them everything, youre whole life story basically hahahaha, text every day for so long and that that just ment nothing?

Debate/Discussion what do you do as an ENTP when in conflict with someone?

how hard does your Ne and Ti go? do you let them loose? do you encourage yourself to use Fe? Si? how so? when do you prioritize your ideas over the person you're talking to? when do you prioritize the person you're talking to over your ideas? do you know how to find the balance? how so? how do you try to understand the person you're talking to? have you ever accidentally inserted your own ideas into what you think the other person believes? do you ever feel like you always have to suppress yourself because you're "not digestible" to people? has this worn you down over time? how quickly do your emotions change? how much do you care about the emotions of the person you're dealing with?

a lot of questions, i'm aware. the more information i get though, the better. i thank you in advance if you do choose to respond. i know different flavors of these questions have already been asked before, but why not see if anyone has any updates or any new people have different perspectives

Question/Poll Perfect civilisation?

Out of my own curiosity and because I want to hear other people’s opinion, what do you guys think of an entp only world? Me personally if there were ever a chance for something like that to be possible, I think I’d go for it immediately. Is it a big egotistical maybe… which is why I want other entp opinions. I just can’t see any injustices and it’ll be such an efficiently run society! Holy ego but it’s not, anyways either berate me and tell me I’m wrong or agree :)

Advice ENTPs who are/have recently actually made larger art projects help me

I know this is such a comically common ENTP (and Ne dom in general) issue, but it’s like there’s a missing piece in my creative process. I really WANT to make a larger novel or comic. I know I could write a cool ass story and have so much to say in a longer format, but it feels nearly impossible. I can write short stories, create 4 panel comics, etc. I know I’m objectively good at drawing and also have good writing skills. I also have an endless stream of ideas. My notes app is filled with ideas for characters, worlds, story intro, dynamics, etc. but the second I think “okay I’m going to make this into a larger project and commit to it” the idea just dies somewhere in the process.

It’s like my art is on a timer and if I don’t finish something in a day or two, or it’s just super low pressure (like how I play 5-30 mins of guitar everyday but I don’t force myself to do it), then it just won’t happen.

Like looking at a table filled with all these cool puzzle pieces that came from my mind but I have to put them all together with only my tongue. Making all the individual pieces is so fun and easy for me but tapping into that Si and committing to something cohesive is impossible.

Any practical advice??

Typology Help HEELLP I’m E7, but am I sp/so or so/sp?

Hello. Let’s get straight to the point. I’m an ENTP 7w8, and I just can’t seem to pin down my instinctual subtype. I’m 100% certain that I’m "sx-blind," but I can’t figure out whether I’m sp/so or so/sp. I realize these are quite opposite, but I’m genuinely stuck. I’ve read excerpts from Naranjo’s book, done research online, watched videos—and still nothing. I’m the person in my circle who knows the most about this topic, and even I can’t help myself!

A bit of background: For the last year or two, I’ve carried first-aid supplies with me—just in case something happens to me or someone else—and I avoid anything that feels life-threatening or going to dangerous places. If I lose any of my personal belongings, I panic and remain extremely restless until I find them. When it comes to relationships, my first thought is how much the other person might contribute to my goals or personal development, and whether I’ll contribute to theirs in return (Because, ultimately, injustice has a way of coming back to strike you; causing others to suffer leads to a guilty conscience, and that makes me feel like a failure.)

But at the same time:

Ever since I was a child, I’ve been obsessed with social issues, animal rights, and groups that suffer unjustly. Sometimes I even wonder if my pangs of conscience are genuine, or if I’m just lying to myself. In middle school, I was very individualistic, while in high school, I developed a strong (though still rational) attachment to my country. I remain obsessed with these grand, overarching goals. I put a lot of effort into maintaining good relationships with people, but if things get too dangerous, I feel like I could just walk away from the group. I don’t know. It’s awful. 😑

Debate/Discussion Private bathrooms are deadly in winter

My bathrooms are so deadly for me in the winter. The tile floors radiate a subtle cold, enough that you can detect it's there from the get-go, but it seems innocent. Invariably if I bring any sort of reading in with me, I'll be flopping out, having lost all circulation in my lower limbs.

The solution is obviously not to bring any reading with me but why should throne time interrupt whatever I was just on about?

So here's me, flopping out for the 7th time this winter and winter hasn't started yet.

Ah fuck, and I burned my water again...

Fun fact: poking at an ENTP’s Fe can get them out of their Se demon if done correctly.

This literally just happened to me lmao. It might have something to do with Fi blindness. I'm curious how you guys interpret this situation.

Edited: on second thought, I think this is more accurate for enneagram 7 than just an ENTP thing🤔 I am an E7 myself so I might need new perspectives on this

Advice How to keep an ENTP F happy and interested???

ESTP here. Been dating an ENTP for four weeks now and I’m cooked. I love this woman. She’s smart, funny, and I never feel like I have to force a conversation with her. Which is great, except now I’ve realised I actually care about keeping her around and I don’t want to fuck this up 💀💀💀💀

So, ENTP ladies, what do you want your man to do for you and what actually keeps you engaged in a relationship? Intellectual stimulation? Adventures? Spontaneous weekend getaways? Cash? Should I take her to the Barbados this weekend? I haven’t booked anything yet 😂I’m not particularly interested in political or intellectual debates which I think y’all love. I don’t want to lose her to some INTJ 😂

Help a brother out please and give me the inside information.

Advice Did my (32F) anxious attachment in our last week together ruin everything?

My ex (40M) is ENTP (but once also tested ENFP) and I (32F) INFP, dated for eight months.

We were exclusive, talked about children and moving in together, and he called ours the healthiest relationship of his life. So naturally, I thought we were building something serious.

Then things unraveled in our final month.

Two months into dating, he told me he’d attended a gallery opening with Catherine, a woman he’d briefly slept with before me. She’d cried and confessed her feelings after learning about our relationship. He clarified they were just friends, and eventually they resumed their friendship. I trusted him.

Fast-forward to month seven: Catherine invited him to a small, multi-day art residency that August. He casually announced he was going, without asking how I felt.

After sitting with my discomfort for weeks, I finally brought it up. Could we find some middle ground? Maybe all hang out together, or I could join them?
He grew defensive, saying he didn’t believe in prioritizing romantic partners over other relationships, and complained that our 20-minute conversation was eating into his workday. He later apologized.

\*\*The very next night\*\*, he went to a performance with Catherine without telling me beforehand. It was our second-to-last night together before three weeks apart.

I discovered this when I called him and sent admittedly reactive texts saying I was hurt and couldn’t believe him. His response? “Why? But honestly, don’t feel like going on defensive right now.”

Other incidents had been accumulating:

\*\*1.\*\* After an emotional conversation about his doubts around long-term monogamy, I took an extra 30-minute walk while fetching drinks for his project. I returned before anyone arrived, but he was furious, accusing me of “sabotaging” his work. He never asked whether I was okay.

\*\*2.:\*\* I biked slower than him, causing us to arrive ONE MINUTE late to class. We were turned away, and he blamed me for interfering with his productivity, sulking for much of the afternoon.

He’s fiercely independent and values autonomy. I believe he was sexually faithful, and I never asked him to abandon his friendships with exes. But I also know my anxiety sometimes made me jealous and reactive.
He eventually ended things, citing my anxiety, “possessive energy” around other women, and long-term incompatibility.

For context, he was never physically or intentionally verbally abusive. But defensiveness, passive aggression, and emotional shutdowns were recurring patterns.

For months, I’ve wondered whether a more securely attached woman would’ve handled everything differently. Whether I essentially sabotaged an otherwise good relationship.

But now I’m questioning whether my anxiety was really so disproportionate to the circumstances.

Advice Apparently, I’m the Villain for Telling the Truth. Interesting.

I’m an ENTP, I have one sibling, my younger brother, he is an ENFP. And I’ve recently found myself in the most ridiculous family drama I’ve ever been involved in.

He was engaged. Wedding preparations were underway. Then his fiancée decided to postpone the wedding after choosing her ex-boyfriend.

Yes. Her ex.

For a long time, I’ve been listening to my brother complain about this woman. And when I say complain, I mean a whole collection of stories about how much he did for her.
Driving her to her graduation. Picking her up. Taking her parents places. Waiting from early morning until late at night. Apparently, there was even an occasion when he waited all day without being offered food. 😂 (I honestly kinda enjoy seeing him suffer tho)

Meanwhile, he kept insisting that she was a good person.
Okay. Interesting definition of a good relationship, but go on.

I listened. I let him vent. I didn’t immediately tell him what to do because, well, he’s an adult. If he wants to invest his time and energy into a relationship, that’s his decision.

But then the wedding situation happened, and I decided to tell our parents what had been going on.

And suddenly, guess who’s the problem?

Me.

Not the relationship drama. Not the decision to postpone the wedding after choosing an ex. Not the fact that our family was preparing for a wedding while all of this was happening.

Me. The person who reported the plot twist.

Apparently, I was supposed to listen to all the complaints, collect the information like a private investigator, and then take it to my grave.

Here’s what fascinates me about this situation: people will tell you everything that’s wrong with their lives, but the moment you do something about the information they’ve voluntarily given you, you’re suddenly a terrible person.

So let me get this straight.

You tell me the relationship is making you miserable. I listen. You tell me what she’s done. I listen. A major decision involving marriage blows up, and I tell our parents because I think they should know what’s happening.

Now I’m the traitor?

What exactly was the expected outcome here? Was I supposed to sit quietly, watch the wedding preparations continue, and pretend I knew absolutely nothing?

IAnd for the record, I didn’t make her choose her ex. I didn’t make her postpone the wedding. I didn’t manufacture these events for entertainment. I merely informed the relevant stakeholders that the project had encountered some rather signification.

I understand that my brother might be hurt, embarrassed, or angry. Fine. Feel whatever you need to feel. I’m not expecting him to be happy about the situation.

But I do find it fascinating that the anger has landed on me, the messenger, rather than on the circumstances that created this mess.

Maybe I should have asked his permission before telling our parents. That’s a fair argument, and I’m willing to examine it.

But I’m not going to pretend the underlying situation was perfectly fine just because the truth was inconvenient.

My question for other ENTPs:
Do you ever get tired of being treated like the villain simply because you’re willing to say out loud what everyone else would rather leave unspoken? And for those with ENFP siblings, is this a common conflict between different approaches to emotional situations, or is my brother simply upset that I refused to participate in keeping up appearances?

Because honestly, I’m open to criticism. I’m just not interested in accepting responsibility for a story I didn’t write, a decision I didn’t make, and a relationship I wasn’t even in. Like I may have delivered the news. But I didn’t create the news.

TL;DR: My ENFP younger brother’s fiancée chose her ex and postponed their wedding after he spent so much time and effort on her. After listening to him complain about their relationship for ages, I told our parents what was going on. Now he’s blaming me for exposing the situation. I know I might have crossed a boundary, but honestly? I’m kinda enjoying watching him suffer the consequences of his own choices. Am I the asshole? 💀

Debate/Discussion ENTP's rage post

Okay, today I wanna talk about how shitty it can be to be ENTP. My whole life I've never been good at the formal-communication game. I've always found my people - the ones I click with on a personal level, and steered clear of anyone who had a problem with who I am. Honestly, my social circle is solid. But the formal/professional side of things... it's a total shitshow. Let me explain: no, I'm not autistic, yes, I get why people act the way they do at work; I don't get too chummy with coworkers and I don't start drama. But I'm also not about to kiss ass, step on heads, or rat people out behind their backs for personal gain. And I ended up in a situation where I let a clash with a colleague slide (it seemed like small potatoes to me - a misunderstanding plus her trying to be rude to me), and I got fired because she didn't let it slide! She went over our team lead's head and snitched to upper management. The official explanation was: "you don't fit the team, too many ambitions, you take on too much responsibility (what the fuck? great reason to fire someone)." I'm 80% sure she was threatened by the competition, because technically everyone was more than happy with my work, I had a ton of ideas for optimization and just generally a lot of initiative when it came to improving our processes.
So now I'm unemployed because I can't play the backroom games and pretend to be god knows what.
But that's not even what pissed me off, honestly, I mostly just laughed at the situation. If a company is willing to cut loose an employee who does great work and gets along with literally everyone on the team except one person who, surprise surprise, does the same job but worse - fuck that company. (Oh, yes, they don't even tried to get to the bottom of the situation and hear both sides out. Clearly, the colleague had connections to the higher-ups)
What pissed me off was my partner accusing me of being intolerant and incapable of mindless submission, of "undermining hierarchy and the system." I don't undermine either of those things, by the way, I just lose my shit when people use them to cover up workplace dysfunction and a plain old desire to have power over someone.

I know 90% of ENTPs never find acceptance in this world, but I can't prove it.

I have a 4689 profile on MMPI and I wonder what you guys have. Seems like at least one of the 4, 8 and 9 scales should be high for you to be ENTP. Also low 0, 2 and 7 scales I suppose.

Debate/Discussion Cooked my life

Hellos fellow entps . Basically this year I was supposed to go to university. I got into all of the top universities in my country. But I missed my board pratical, and got a supply (basically the admission of my dream university got wasted ). I hate myself so much for it . Im just always in my head . I think so much . I can't be in the present . My sense of direction is high-key cooked and I can't memorize directions for the life of me . I'm a disorganized mess . I work hard and I'm of okish intelligence. That's how I got admission in the top universities here (they have an acceptance rate of 1.5%). But I messed it up lol . Now I have to give the test again and the sllyabus has changed. So much of my hardwork got wasted. It pains me. It has been 2 months but still it's such a bad set back . I never wanted to take a gap year . I feel like I'm going insane 😭.

To all the older entps . How did u grow and how do y'all avoid making such silly mistakes which have heavy cost .how do y'all cope with failure? I'm already clumsy . But this has wrecked me to my core. I have become even more careless. This has been such a hard year . I worked Soo incredibly hard, didn't go out to any trips and didn't enjoy any college event . I see people around me they don't do such clumsy stuff and ruin their lives like that . They achieve their goals . I know I come from a family which really lacks structure . My mom has schizoeffective disorder (she is wayyy better btw) but I wasn't raised properly . I learned loads of things by myself. Now I'm dealing with this setback . I just feel like a failure . I don't have the courage to study the material for the entry test again . It has traumatized me . I can't even handle these situations properly because I'm clumsy and lack order myself . I'm 19 btw.

Any ways any older entp advice will be appreciated and guys please be kind and sorry for the not so good English . Atleast y'all know it's not ai lol

Debate/Discussion Fe Fi Doms get further in life

Random idea, run with it as i think it through.

Fe Fi Doms (aux) get further in life in terms of a more fulfilling traditional understanding of the "successful life".

Basically the main theory behind it is the idea that in terms of decision making they will make better choices than a Ti dom for instance.

I reach this conclusion on considering options that ultimately lay at the doors of "do what I think is best for me" and "doing what i think would lead to developing better relationships" that would ultimately make me and other ppl happy and probably have lead to me benefiting socially and professionally and also most likely economically.

And while i could see how thinking of it this way would make it the logical option you have to consider that this is my post reflection realisations so not my in the moment thoughts.

Point is even now i am not interested in that route because its more of a "the right words escape me" but I'd say uncertainty due to a reliance on others which ultimately....

Was gonna say something about full circle but im lowkey getting bored but i think you get my point.

Am i right or prove me wrong?
