hey guys, so i broke up from my 3 years long-distance relationship, and i just wanna know if i made the wrong decision...well, it's a long story so i'll be sharing it in brief.
the relationship started well tbh like we randomly met online, and ya we liked talking to each other and soon got into a relationship...things went fine lowkey, but ya sometimes fights happened like they were rare at first year of our relationship on issues like sometimes we misunderstood each other, sometimes someones insecurity got triggered, etc and well ngl i haven't thought that those fights will continue to keep growing.
and we also like broke up for like ig few hours or days randomly, then patched up again hm, and i think it was turning quite toxic because we both promised we'll die without each other, and we can't live without each other. idk how to describe it but ya, i felt like the relationship slowly turned from butterflies and lovely talking times to parenting each other when the other partner tired or insecure, caretaking, and all as my partner got diagnosed with OCD a few weeks ago, they had started to visit a therapist finally in our 3rd year of relationship and took meds so were calmer and not so anxiety prone [ like if i ever was quite busy or can't reply for few hours or a day, they would lowkey panic alot and get stressed too much so ya from time to time i tried informing after this happened for the first time], and well ngl i haven't been able to visit a therapist, still i guess i also have some sort of trauma-related problem, i won't say i'm diagonising myself, but i suspect with my own research and symptoms that i may have c-ptsd/bpd or something like that, and i'll be honest, our fights got so toxic we threatened each other, abused sometimes in anger, and ya i also regretted when i did that bullsh*t, and i had thought like idk many times of breakup because i didn't think this relationship could have lasted long.
i won't say all details, but ya my partner out of care and ig a little over-protectiveness, tried to isolate me because i was already quite isolated when i met them, though few months ago when i started making few new friends, then i happily told my partner about it and they felt like i'm not choosing them as my priority and got insecure, so ya i tried to explain to them that we both can't stay isolated and we need friends and hobbies outside of relationship, still it didn't went very well. ik they did it out of care because they know i have been hurt alot by past people in my life, still hm i don't think it's a very positive reaction though i'm not blaming anyone here.
ok so just ig few minutes ago i broke up with them finally, like the breakup talk i tried today in daytime and i melted because they clung to me and said am just overthinking that the relationship isn't fine etc, so i paused and rethought my decision and this time today only, i executed the breakup, i tried to be as warm as possible and ya, i tried to answer their questions however i can like why i'm leaving, what can they do to move on from me, and wished for them to heal. they even said they'll stop their therapy if i left, though ya i still left mhm ik it's abit cold, still i had to because it can't keep going like this as i felt like a ghost in that relationship, and i thought we can't keep staying in this relationship as it's delaying both of ours' healing.
they begged me to stay, it hurted so bad guys i can't tell though i'm still numb can't cry, i didn't ghosted them like i did with few people in past when got hurt, still because i respected my partner and wanted them to have a final conclusion atleast.
idk if i made the right decision or not, they got angry too abit and ya said i'm not making the right decision, breaking the promises of being together forever, still i blocked them and deleted my most of the socials. i don't post on reddit and it's my first time posting, so ya i would like to know if i did something wrong and can maybe improve myself for the future, and still ik i can't go back to my partner because the decision is made. please tell me your opinions on it, and thanks for reading it.
