Personal Advice Enfp / istj relationship

• Upvotes

The relationship w istj (M) is going well, it’s been a year. He respects me, takes care of me, we rarely fight, makes me happy. However i cant deny the fact that i need deep conversations. And the fun. And the passion. It’s stable and i feel safe in the relationship however i feel like we cant connect on a deeper level. Dont get me wrong, i can share my deepest thoughts with him and he listens. But the responses… lack depth you know? I cant talk about life, people and feelings. I cant do spontaneous stuff with him. He watches me from afar when im idk walking on the beach barefoot because he doesnt like the feeling of sand on his feet. Do any of other enfps feel that way? They say enfp and istj fit each other very well but are we enfps just settling? Dont we need someone to feed our soul and kid inside? and someone to join us on our side quests instead of watching from afar?

MBTI Meme Heated Debate🔥 Flexibility or MBTI Rules? (ENTPs and INTPs have fun in the comments)

Post image
5 Upvotes

Okay so I made this because some certain mbti users started questioning my mbti because I said I dont get along with enfj, istp, estp (estp 50/50).

And they started questioning my mbti just because of it and put me in other groups where there were other mbti I dont get along with. so they ignored coginitive functions and only judged my mbti on socionics.

Again as golden pair post, concern is that people should not be limited by those boundaries and offer flexibility to more mbti dynamics. What do you think?

Light MBTI Discussion Perhaps Ne-Ni difference?

• Upvotes

I just noticed something among some of the people around me and wanted some feedback on my observation. Perhaps this is Ni Ne difference or something else.

I obviously an Se-Ni user, think that I'm fairly certain that someone won't change and I will work around that. Like "they work like this... there's no point in making them change their way of doing things right now to get something done right now." Unless I'm trying to change them for the long term, I don't bother correcting them, I just amend their work to work for me.

I noticed that few of the Si-Ne users around me have these expectations for people and either think that they should or could change to fit their idea of how that person should be. Like "I think that person is not doing enough, they should and could do more and improve" kind of thing. Seems very Ne to me.

I had a thought that maybe it's Fe Fi thing but I see this from both ter Fi and inf Fe. So I'm gonna count these out for now and say that it's a perception thing.

Let me know your MBTI and which way your thoughts go.

Light MBTI Discussion Can MBTI and other personality models complement each other, or are they fundamentally incompatible?

MBTI is often used to discuss cognitive preferences and personality patterns. Other frameworks approach people differently: trait models such as the Big Five, Enneagram's motivational framework, attachment theory, and biological or social approaches.

I'm not asking which system is the best.

I'm wondering whether they can answer different questions about the same person.

For example, could one framework describe a person's relatively stable traits, another explore their motivations, and another help explain how their behavior changes across social contexts?

Or do the underlying assumptions of these systems make meaningful integration impossible?

If you could keep MBTI as one component of a broader model of human individuality, what would you connect it to, and what would you absolutely refuse to combine it with?

I'd love to hear arguments from people who know the theory beyond just the four-letter types.

Light MBTI Discussion Another way to look at fucntions

Extroverted functions are “objective” and/or universal.

Introverted fucntions are subjective and individualistic.

For all examples assume this is a Dom of the function extroverted function acting with their shadow (Ex. ENFJxINFP)

Example: Fe

Selects the appropriate emotional response to match/mirror Fi's individualistic expression. High Fe users in a room of sad people will also start to feel sad.

Edit: There was some nuance lacking with Fe so I'm going to borrow from the comments.

We can easily recognize the mood and the vibe of atmospheres, feel it, cognitive or emotional empathy, but it doesn't necessarily mean we mirror the emotions. We do value Ti, so if we don't agree with the emotions, or aren't in line with the emotions, we're not just going to "feel sad" because others are feeling sad like some lemming. Others' emotions can make us mad though, especially when they're affecting a vibe that was going well.

So when a singular person puts a knife through this, we can then use satire, push buttons, shape the mood to rearrange the vibe in the way it was before, or the way we see fit, maybe targeting the singular outlier trying to distance or crush the current good mood/atmosphere, etc.

We can also change an environment/vibe for the worse, but that's for a different discussion lol.

Example Se:

Adjsuts (if they choose) based on Si user's preference. Si user only eats Pizza. Se user can (if they choose to) take on that preference. The Si user is unlikely to (quickly) adapt to their eating habits unless over and extended period.

Alt example: Se user playing tennis notices their Si opponent is slower on their left side. Se user adjsuts their usual play on-the-fly to force the Si user to play on their weaker sides

Example Ne:

Ne externalizes and creates visuals and external representation of Ni's subjective interpretation. Ni has a gut feeling about how something is off with their friend. Ne genenrates options (sick, tired, etc.) that pull from hypothetical, but tangible (external) answers. The Ni vague gut feeling is turned into something a 3rd party can understand.

Example Te:

Ti has a subjectivr impresion for how soemthing should work. Te finds the "best" (universally agreed upon) way of doing the thing. It acts on it in the real world. Bills and laws are largely a product of Ti -> Te universality.

The consistent thing being Ti/Fi/Ni/Si only exist in the person's head. They don't act or do anything on their own. They're only made external via the user's extroverted fucntions.

2 more example then we're done.

INTP: Ti/Ne

Ti generates logical frameworks that are externalized via Ne abstractions. XYZ is true because ABC hypothetical.

ESFP: Se/Fi

Se quickly takes in external sensory data and Fi reacts. Mint smells (Se) good, so I feel (Fi) happy. The response being immediate versus the delayed (low Se) or subdued emotional (low Fi) you'd see from a Se blind or Fi inferior.

Light MBTI Discussion Socionics is NOT Inherently Better than MBTI

Socionics is NOT necessarily better than MBTI, it's just the typology version of declaring oneself a "real ball-knower".

Both systems are merely extensions of Carl Jung's work. Socionics is just a further extension / interpretation of Jung's work than MBTI is. Socionics also makes Jung's work even more rigid than MBTI with its introduction of information blocks and quadras so one could argue that the core elements of it make the system even more dubious than MBTI as a larger portion of it is not based on Jung's theories.

Ultimately, the cognitive functions and the ways in which they serve an individual's personality and information processing is what makes the systems worth considering, and both utilize them. The only meaningful difference is that Socionics extends Jung's theories further and in ways that I find a bit questionable, but that's for another post.

Learn about the functions, determine which ones are your dominant / auxiliary / inferior ones, use that knowledge for fascination or application in the real world, and if you find Socionics' extensions valid or worth considering, then do. But whether you do or not doesn't make you a real ball-knower, lol.

Let me know your thoughts.

Survey / Poll / Question Anyone else hyper-fixated on getting multiple degrees?

Hey everyone, I'm an ISTP female, and I wanted to see if anyone else here relates to this.

I’m in my 4th year of med school, I've had intense passions for completely different fields long before college, and it hasn't stopped. In fact, I often feel more passionate about these other subjects than medicine itself.

I don’t just mean researching them as hobbies or general knowledge—I want to seriously study them and actually earn a bachelor's degree in each one.

My interests are all over the place: Law/Comparative Religion, Hospitality & Tourism, Psychology (Criminal, Clinical, and Speech Pathology/Learning Disabilities), Sign Language, Public Health, and Interior Design.

Is anyone else here like this? Do you have an overwhelming urge to master totally unrelated fields, or are any of you actually studying/working in these areas?

About this Community i love my istj best friend so much (ENFP)

I really love my ISTJ best friend so much
this is just an appreciation post

she takes care of me, she teaches me, she cures me

i’m not sure why, but I almost love her the same way and I don’t mean to call her a pet when I say this, but the same way you would love a puppy. I’m not writing this post. I’m doing a text to speech post so sorry if it comes out choppy anyways I love my istj so much. You know what I realize how strange the pet correlation was because it’s not like I look down on her or anything in fact it’s opposite. I very much look up to her and respect her. I want to be just like her even though I think so different differently. It’s just strange. I feel like she always knows what to say and I feel like she’s so reasonable about things in life and so cool headed and calm. Sometimes I wonder if there’s more going on beneath that she’s not letting me know but we’re so close. I’m not sure how true that would be. I think in a way we’ve become codependent and my friend say we’re like a married couple. Honestly, I would marry her if I didn’t have a boyfriend. I love her so much and I wanna stay in her life forever for everybody who shits on ICJ. I hate you for anybody who miss uses ISTJS Loyalty I hate you.For anybody who thinks ISTJs are boring and quiet. I hate you. being friends with an I STJ has probably been one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences in my life. 10/10 experience. I hope reincarnation is real so i can meet her and befriend her in every lifetime.

Survey / Poll / Question is there such a thing as ambivert?

if the first letter in the dichotomy refers to how we get our energy, like introverts recharge by their alone time, while extroverts recharge by socializing. what about ambiverts or omniverts, how do they recharge their social energy? or they just do not exist?

like if ambiverts are in between introverts and extroverts, it means they can recharge by socializing or by their alone time. that makes them superhuman, or not run out of social energy.

or am i right to say that they just do not exist? that people only coined the term because they thought introverts are quiet, shy, and loves being alone, while extroverts are socially outgoing and talkative. which is not the correct description.

Light MBTI Discussion If you had the option to be any other mbti other than your own, which would you be and why?

I'll go first. As an Entp, I'd definitely love to experience being an Estp. They're fun and charming on a whole different level, and ooze with confidence, thus finding themselves to be very easily and often surrounded by people. Overall really entertaining people, and even though we are very similar in type, I wouldnt mind the experience of swapping Ne for Se just for a day (even if I do love my Ne lmao).

Deep Theory Analysis I got thoughts on Fi vs. Ti👀👀

https://www.reddit.com/r/INTP/s/iXpx1NQKBK

I just read this beautiful redditthread today (linked) and I'm thinking...

So Fi's goal could ultimately be: see me as I am even if you don't understand And Ti's goal ultimately could be: understand me as I am even if you don't care

But things tend to blur the more close the relationship gets imo. Anyone with thoughts on this??

Light MBTI Discussion Using MBTI as a tool to understand others and myself.

I got into MBTI years ago to understand why people think the way they do, including myself. And it has done wonders. So many behaviors in the past where I went "Why do people do that?" I understand now.

Realizing as an INFP I overuse my Fi-Ne and ignore Si-Te helps me actually get things done. I can see a project and be like "Why am I stuck?" Because I haven't used Si-Te yet duh! I'll sit there and brainstorm and make moodboards for art projects without using familiar methods and tools (Si) to get the job done. Or I haven't considered yet the formula that actually works (Te) for how I want to convey my weird and abstract Fi-Ne message.

I have also helped others when they get into loops or rut. "Have you considered other possibilities? Have you considered how other people feel? How about how you feel? Did you remember to check in with the real world and take a break from your head? Have you considered taking a break from the real world and see what your head says?"

A lot of people have thanked me for the way I am seemingly able to consider and view so many different perspectives. I know MBTI is a pseudoscience but it really hasn't lead my astray. It's a useful tool if you ignore letter typing, pop psychology, stereotypes, etc.

Light MBTI Discussion Wandering thoughts: How MBTI Affects how Characters and audiences react?

I was thinking about Last Airbender and how much more beloved Aang (ENFP) vs Korra (ESFP) is.

Then i was thinking about Death Note and a similar difference with how L (INTP) vs Near (INTJ) was received.

I think about a show like succession where most of the dialogue is in Ne/Ni and the cast is overwhelmingly XNXXs.

Part of me wonders if it’s just original = better or if there’s intuitive bias even in non-MBTI circles.

Maybe the shadow type relationship is just a goldmine for writing that people land on randomly.

Idk, it just has me thinking across different series what types of tend to be the breakout stars and which villain or antagonists are memorable or beloved relative to their protagonists. It even goes into how they’re portrayed or written physically.

My hunch is that ENFXs and XSFPs are going to be the winners here, but it more speaks to what sort of personalities we like portrayed.

Other thoughts on other types:

INTP protagonists aren’t that common and in almost all portrayals are nerds of some variety.

EXTJs are perpetually antagonists or foils rather than heroes.

ISTJs tend to have very short or very rushed character arcs. Also rarely MCs.

ISFJs and especially ESFJs are almost always written as women.

ESTPs tend to be written as physically imposing and/or athletic people whether they’re male or female.

Anyway… my meandering thoughts. Not sure how much of this is writing for what’s known and tropes are feeding into a lot of this, basis in reality with huh correlation, or something else.

Anyway if you read this all, thanks. Ti Ne is cooking, but it’s not fully baked yet…

Deep Theory Analysis Differece in Se Inferior

I'm an INTP and this a theory. Take with a grain of salt and please give me KIND feedback

(INFJ) Se Inferior- Perfectionism

More worried frantic in the moment emotions. Wanting to PERFORM. Does NOT like to be bad at ANYTHING that requires skill. Feels more pressure to "be better" in sports and skills (Influence of Fe)

You worry about things being YOUR fault. Your feeling of others emotions being your responsiblity creates the feeling of things being your fault.

(INTJ) Se Inferior- Get it over with

Efficiency is the main thing! The present moment is just a stepping stone for whats next. They ONLY focus on the NOW... to get it done and move to the NEXT (influence of Te).

You will find them making plans on the fly. One, because they have confidence in makings plans. Two JUST to get it over with. Others are wishy washy and they take the role of "might as well settle the choice".

Light MBTI Discussion What are your "this is obviously xxxx type"

I want to hear your stories where you went to type people and it was immediately obvious that someone is a specific type.

Like I typed my entire class this year and one kid I knew for being the most popular kid and was really mean to me so I immediately knew he's an ESFP because it was extremely obvious. Another time I saw one character in Young Sheldon that with the vibes I knew it was IxFP and once the character said that they like drawing abstract things I knew it was an INFP. What are your stories?
