i’m rewatching after 10+ years and obviously i was much younger then so i wasn’t paying as close attention. but goodness… does anyone pick up on how awkward melissa is? not even any of her suck up actions to abby but that’s a whole other thing. but genuinely just her mannerisms and the way she carries herself.
in i think the first season she goes out to dinner with cathy and cathy asked her about the other mom’s husbands. and for no reason at all NO REASON AT ALL, she just dropped into the convos that they discussed it. like huh…? her timing and mannerisms are just very odd.
also never fully appreciated what a kiss ass she is to abby. she has no backbone at all and even in arguments with the other mothers presents as very frail.

Does anyone know why the girls/moms excluded Camryn from the Irreplaceables tour?
looking back it was a good thing she was not a part of it because it was clearly just to make money and a mes. but why didn’t the Moms tell Camryn? And did they tell the girls not to tell her either?

I came across this old blog that was posting recaps of episodes as Dance Moms was airing. Specifically seasons 5. It was interesting bc I wasn’t on social media at the time bc I wasn’t allowed to be on it. I know how we all agree about how bad it was in this sub, but I found it interesting that alot of the comments in the blog were terribly annoyed with Holly that season. I saw people saying she becoming Christi and Kelky(in a negative way) or that she was acting out for no reason as Christi and Kelly had good reasons, but apparently, she didn’t. I also saw someone say she was going behind Abby’s back and another straight up call her a screechy bitch. I feel like it’s insane to watch that season on not think Holly was in the right for Abby treated Nia, but I guess that’s how people felt 11-12 years ago.

Does anyone know the full story behind Kira’s arrest and what actually happened? Did she really get arrested? I’m re watching s6 where Jess asked Kira if she can buy a flat screen tv from her 😭

I just noticed Kelly stating Leslie hit someone over the head with a bottle?!? 🫣 Wild!
I’m also reminded that Abby was right most of the time - the moms were crazy! 😂😂😂😂

I’m not sure if I’m the only one thinking this but what actually happened with the Girl Party song? And why does Abby keep making herself look bad by bringing it up 😭
For one (thought abt this after the first time they went to LA), she always claimed to know what she was doing and hated when they questioned her. She got a lot of the girls to break the just-signed MattyB contract but didn’t have a valid one with Mackenzie?? It just makes her seem like someone who could get scammed because if she knew that she wouldn’t get paid for it, wouldn’t she just not help out? Was she just expecting that the Zieglers would give her part of the profits?
Happy to hear any thoughts/opinions or if anyone knows the actual facts I’d be interested to hear them!

Rosie O'Donnell, Kristin Chenoweth Join Dance Moms Parody Musical Reading
I have so many mixed feelings about this. Part of me is interested and most likely will watch this parody musical. I've watched all the episodes and seasons, from the beginning to right now I'm doing a first-time rewatch. I listen to multiple podcasts from the cast members.
So it does interest me. And I'm not completely against it. I'm saying all this because the following thing I'm about to say is not completely supportive.
As I'm doing this first time rewatch of the seasons, I'm definitely picking up on things that either before I was uneducated about or I wasn't fully present to understanding all of the abuse that was happening from Abby and the production to the girls. I actually find myself more and more horrified.
I would like to know if the moms and dancers were consulted, we're going to be giving any sort of compensation for their personhood and personalities being used for this? I saw that Jill was singing one of the songs, but I don't find that to be a true endorsement.
I also wonder if a musical is appropriate about someone like Abby who I think was abusive, and I think that the production company was abusive and I think in general that reality TV exploits children.
With that I am a hypocrite because I do think that this show has all the great emotional and drama and laughter to make a good, funny musical for people that are fans.
I just have this yuck feeling about it in a lot of ways.
Edit to add. I think I would feel differently if the kids who danced on the show who are now adults had some agency to decide if they wanted their likeness in this musical reading and or had agency to contribute, participate, review, and approve anything that is related to them or their likeness. I think it would make a huge difference.

I was watching a compilation and most of it was season 4 particularly the nationals episode. It’s is truly just so heartbreaking seeing how bad Abby talked about and treated Chole and I just can’t understand how or why anyone could do that to a child like that.
Ugh I’m sorry, I’m PMSing 😭😭 it’s just really making me sad.

I’m watching for the first time and have so many thoughts but I don’t want to bombard the sub. I wish there was a live option where you could chat with people watching the same episodes. Anyway these are two recent thoughts I’ve had
Abby is straight up abusive and I can’t believe these mothers allowed her to treat their children this way. I would never let someone yell or talk to / about my child the way she does
Vivi is my fave and I think it’s so funny how uninterested she is in dance

Has anyone ever noticed how before Kelly and Abby's fight there's a franken-bit. I KNOW that Kelly used to say "Hylands, let's go" but every clip I find she gets voiced over saying "girls, let's go". Does anyone know why? It seems like a weird thing to clip over???

I’m currently trying to make a really cool motherhood dance moms TikTok’s and I’ve been able to find quite a few baby photos with the moms but besides Melissa, I can’t find a single pregnancy photo of the moms. Specifically Kelly and Christi. Does anyone have anyone??
