I recently listened to Kira’s interview on Kendall’s podcast and I thought I should share some of what was said. I thought it was quite interesting and definitely recommend listening!
Kira says producers found Kalani for AUDC.
Only auditioned for the final round of auditions for AUDC.
First impression of Abby is that she’s crazy and a lot.
Kendall said that it’d be humbling for Abby’s studio when she came to the west coast.
Kira thinks Abby was forced to go to LA.
Kira says Abby called the shots and would throw a tantrum until she got her way.
Abby told Kira/Kalani everyday that they’ll be on DM.
Club Dance had a beautiful studio and was very well organized and they knew what classes to take and what the schedule was. Strong emphasis on ballet, technique and competition.
ALDC studio was very old and disorganized. Strong emphasis on Broadway. I got the impression that Kira didn’t like the studio/training.
Kendall agrees on the differences between Club and AUDC.
Kira doesn’t regret doing DM, but regrets how she was on the show. Interesting because Holly doesn’t regret being on the show either.
Her youngest kids watch DM and make fun of Kira. I find this interesting to compare to the Lukasiak’s as I think Christi says that Clara won’t watch DM.
Kira says that the training wasn’t good and it was obvious on the show when you look at the OGs compared to Kalani.
Kalani was doing 5 hrs of ballet a day in AZ. Kira says that it was unfair to compare Kalani to the OGs since they’d never received that level of training.
Wishes she had spoken up more on the show, specifically for Chloe. Kira tended to stay out of everything and regretted it. She does say something about Christi, Jess and Nia that I couldn’t make out but it’s at 22:40 for anyone interested.
Wishes she had called out Melissa on the show.
Says that Jess on the show is how she is off the show.
Wishes she had Christi and Kelly when she was on the show. Would’ve formed an alliance with them (idk about that).
Says that Holly was on an island by the end of the show.
Regarding the Two Sapphires duet:
Thinks that Abby called production and told them that the duet was happening or threw a fit to make it happen.
Kalani learned the duet the week before while she was staying with Melissa in Pittsburgh. This is different from Christi and Kelly’s recollection that Kalani learned it at booty camp.
Says that the moms never truly hated each other because they had to live together and work together.
Kira has never been passionate about dance. Really emphasizes that it’s not her thing.
Very close to Ashlee before the show.
Says that Ashlee really followed production’s orders. She was treating it like a job, whereas Kira knew that she’d get paid even if she did nothing.
Kira really emphasizes how insane Abby was. Said that she’d sabotage a whole week of filming because she didn’t get a certain costume. Really highlighted how chaotic and frustrating the environment was that would lead to explosive fights.

I’m currently watching the episode where they all head to new york for the joffrey auditions, i’m curious to hear people’s thoughts on this one.
I do know that it wasn’t a “real audition” but the judges especially the woman im wondering if she was a real dance instructor.
Also something that always stuck with me through this episode was the way cathy acted, i’m sure it was heavily influenced by producers but when she’s start yelling and the cut to her eating that huge slice of pizza is so funny to me 😂
Let me know your thoughts and any other comments about this episode many may not know!

I just started watching Dance Moms for the first time and i’m close to halfway through season 6 rn. It’s making me crazy.
Any tips on how to get through it easier? Is the next season a bit better? I just feel so bad for Brynn and I wanna fight Jill.

I’m on the episode where jojo leaves and we know now that she got the Nickelodeon offer and she left In just sitting here thinking a couple things I’ve always wondered and didn’t know the answer to wanted to see what you guys think why wasn’t jojos music video filmed like Nia’s and Kendall’s and Mackenzie’s were through the show I know they show the finished video some point during the show can’t remember what episode but why wasn’t it the same way as the other girls and what do you things think Abby was thinking back then during dance moms when she found out that jojo got this amazing opportunity with Nickelodeon and that her music video did so well that Abby had no part in it I can only imagine how she reacted I remember reading back something way back when that she got mad at a kid wearing a jojo bow or something while she was still on dance moms I’m sure the moms especially Jill I can’t even imagine and I’ve read that the moms could’ve gotten out of the contract like jojos mom did she found a way out of it so they left their kids there for fame is what that’s saying

Hi all!
I’m trying to find a dance / song from the show. I think it was the later seasons, but I don’t know. The song was like “I’m home… aaatt last.. I’m home… relaaaax” and maybe something about watching TV?
It was a lyrical / contemp number. It’s not the Nationals dance in season 3. I think it was a bonus or something.

Did the girls go to public school while they followed Abby to LA? Or did they get any kind of tutoring?

I was on Maddie’s IMDb page and saw a 2026 Sia project listed, “Sia: Nostalgic for The Present”. I thought Maddie had been distancing herself from Sia in recent years due to various controversies and a potentially unhealthy relationship, but it may have also just been speculation. Was wondering if anyone else knows more about all that, and this new project?

She’s literally what, 10 or 11?? 😭 people always wanted her to be this bratty, non-humble person, but she can clearly recognize that kalani is better, and there’s no denying that kalani had much better training during those years. And yes, Abby was probably one of the best coaches in Pittsburgh, but that doesn’t mean she was the best coach in the world. Everyone seemed to regress under Abby’s training. The fans, and even the moms, always wanted Maddie to be this cocky, arrogant person. And while she definitely had her moments, overall, you can see just how mature she actually was for her age.

Anyone else notice that the music has been reused for dances? Check out “Broadway Blondes” in the early seasons and then later it’s again in “Bittersweet Charity”. Also, may not be exactly the same, but very similar is “Jailbirds” then a very similar version was used for the Irreplaceables dance “The Last Dance”. Especially strange since Abby was so against the Irreplaceables dance, but she used that particular song when the girls were so much younger 🤷🏻♀️

I ask this question because of another question posed on here a little while ago, where someone asked if people think that Abby delivered on the opportunities that she promised when the show primarily started filming in Los Angeles.
The question got me thinking, and I had realized that it seemed like the girls have more outside opportunities before the Los Angeles move.
Between seasons 1-5, when Dance Moms was still primarily being filmed in Pittsburgh, some of the opportunities the girls had were the Lux music video, Brooke’s music career and filming her music video for Summer Love Song, Mackenzie’s music career and the filming for her music video for Girl Party, the Freaks Like Me music video, the opportunity to audition for Drop Dead Diva, the Joffrey Ballet audition, their performance on The View, the Astra Awards, the Matty B music video, and the interviews they did with local TV and radio stations.
In seasons 6 and 7, when filming was primarily in Los Angeles, the only opportunities that I remember the girls getting to do were the ALDC LA commercial, the Electric Kicks commercials, the brand itself no longer exists I believe, and the Seventeen magazine photoshoot.
Why do you think that might be? Do you think maybe the opportunities dried up overtime, or do you think that production might not have allowed the girls to do as many outside opportunities during filming?
