Ashlee confirms yet again that Jess was her and Brynn’s biggest hater

Post image
• Upvotes

As what the other comment said, Jess was indeed a raging bitch. But this is the second time I’ve heard her say that she thought that Jess genuinely did not like them, the first was when her and Brynn were talking on Brynn’s podcast a few years ago. I’m curious what she was like when the cameras stopped rolling.

throwback kinda find this pretty ridiculous

watching the show and having personally competed with the ALDC when i was younger, i’ve never seen nia wear braids for competitions. i can only assume abby didn’t allow it, but i find it pretty ironic that kendall, a white girl, has cornrows in for “stomp the yard” 😭 interesting how that works… just food for thought.

Ranking Dance Mom Girls based on tumbling (My opinion)

Reasons.

  1. Jojo(Jojo isn’t much of a tumbler. She mainly does side aerials which aren’t the best. She also did mention that tumbling backwards is a fear of hers)

  2. Kalani (She may have only did front and side aerials on the show, but she can do a back tuck without a physical spot. But I wouldn’t say her tumbling is the most difficult)

  3. Chloe (She wasn’t too much of a tumbler. But over the seasons, she improved her tumbling and was able to get her back tuck at Studio 19.

  4. Paige (Paige was amazing at tumbling and has a pretty high back tuck, but sometimes she can be sloppy especially in her aerials)

  5. Nia(Nia’s side aerials in season 1 and 2 were not the best, but season 3 and onwards, she not only improved her side aerials, but her tumbling improved a lot. Her front aerials were also good for the most part, she just has trouble landing them sometimes.)

  6. Kendall( Kendall can do some pretty complex skills. But there are some times where she has straight legs in her aerials, and there are sometimes where she doesn’t have straight legs in her aerials.)

  7. Brynn( She can do so many moves in a row and is really advanced. She’s definitely one of the best)

  8. Maddie(Many people don’t know, but Maddie she a pro when it comes to tumbling, she can do back handsprings, back tucks, layout stepouts, and more.)

  9. Brooke(Brooke is the acrobatic queen and can do almost any tumbling pass. She can do a no handed round off into a back handspring back tuck, a double front aerial, and more.)

  10. Mackenzie(Kenzie would definitely make a great gymnast/cheerleader. She can do multiple back handsprings, back tucks, layouts, layout stepouts, and she even has an Arabian on ground. Many people don’t know this, but she also can do a full twisting layout on trampoline and tumble track. So I think she is the best tumbler.)

Question/discussion I Just Found Out Sia Was Involved in The Maddie Diaries

I genuinely never knew Sia wrote the foreword for Maddie’s book. After hearing Christi and Kelly point out how Abby was barely mentioned, it got me thinking. Everyone seems to focus on Maddie for not praising Abby, but Maddie was only 14, and Sia was heavily involved in her life and career at the time. Honestly, I have a strong feeling Sia may have had some influence over the book’s direction. We don’t know what happened behind the scenes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was more to it than people realize, and I would certainly not put it past Sia if she was to be heavily involved in the Books direction.

Social Media Christi commented on a TikTok post about season 4 nationals

I know this was from about 2 weeks ago, but this TikTok came on my fyp just now. It’s so sad that season 4 nationals ended up having a horrible ending for Christi and Chloe. I’m sure what Abby did to Chloe still affects Christi to this day, Abby is disgusting and should be held more accountable

Question Was Chloe really regressing by Season 4B?

I know there has been discussion in the past about how Chloe starts to lose flexibility and overall declines ability wise in season 4, specifically the 2nd half of the season (4B)

I know some people say that she was amazing in season 4 and holding her own. On an episode of BTTB when they were recapping season 4, Christi said Chloe told her that she was dancing for her life at that point because Abby was the most awful to her by the end.

I’m not a dancer at all, I just watch for drama so if someone could provide more context 😊

“Maturing is realizing”

I think we all have a dance that we loved at a certain point but as we got older we realized it was a hot mess lol. I was wondering what dance applies to that for you guys?

Question/discussion how accurate is dance moms to the competitive dance world?

i know that dance moms is a heavily produced reality tv show with very unique circumstances (mainly learning new dances every week and competing them in a matter of days, and that each woman was hired to cause drama), but i'd still like to hear from any of this subreddit's members that have experience doing competitive dance. do dance studios have a lot of drama? and what is the drama usually about? does it go beyond dance?

i only did recreational dance as a child once a week, so there weren't really any stakes lol. i can only imagine the craziness in a much more rigorous environment where children/teens are actually competing for titles.

Question/discussion DM has probably the worst audio editing of any reality show

Just to preface, this has nothing to do with the girls or moms. Of all the shows I've watched, I can't think of any that have the number of poorly edited voiceovers and speech edits to manipulate what events were happening.

The biggest examples are of course the big fights e.g. Ashlee and Jill, Christi and Abby. But it's EVERYWHERE. Names being inserted into sentences when they weren't being referred to. Abby's bizarre disjointed interviews (Season 6 especially). Times in pyramid where audio was mixed and matched relentlessly.

It is so incredibly choppy and every time I hear it, I just think... WHO edited this??? Did anyone listen to it back? I know edits are made to maintain storylines, create drama and I'm aware DM was filmed and edited very rapidly. But it sticks out so badly... you rarely encounter such choppy edits in shows like KUWTK, Love Island etc, even though they do audio edit. Some of my theories are it was done intentionally to signal to invested viewers that this scene played out differently IRL. Or, the editors were pushed by the producers and executives to make whatever story they wanted, even if it sounds bad.

I only really noticed wider discussion about this when the moms started doing QnA's and started podcasts, as they unpack what happened behind the scenes. But I have watched the show for over a decade and immediately noticed how frequent it is, especially in seasons 5 through 8. It's a very poorly edited show in my opinion, but I do love it and love watching the journey everyone went on. Just wish it wasn't so jarring!

Unpopular opinion: season 8 was fucking HILARIOUS

I personally loved this season. I mean yeah ok it’s not the same as the originals but the dancing is wayyyy better. Also, it felt fresh and new. By season 7 it was just too much it felt like trying to revive chopped meat (idk what that means but just go with it). Season 8 gave just enough lore while also giving us new material. Also, Abby, the moms, the kids were so fucking funny. Tricia throwing the cake still makes me laugh to this day.

I didn’t love how the drama escalated though. Poor Sarah and Michelle they had it rough it was too much at the end.

New mom's

It was insane that the new moms would come in right off the bay insulting the moms and their kids. But turn around and get mad because they wouldn't defend them or their kids from Abby

Question what do you think happened with the "two girls, one solo" thing?

elaborate in the comments!

the competition really made a mistake and fixed it
abby wanted score sheets and noticed a mistake and had to bring it up to the judges
abby manipulated the scores and made up the whole lie
production was involved in changing the scores

Question Why did Nia not want to bring her sash and crown?

in the episode when Nia and Kenzie are supposed to hand out awards, did Nia really not want to bring her crown and sash? or was that a production thing?

Unpopular Opinion

Chloe’s flexibility (mainly her back) went down because it wasn’t in her SOLO choreography anymore. in the early season (even in the later seasons) you can see that Chloe can do acro tricks but the thing is that they weren’t in her solos, they were in groups, trios, etc. So I never understood why Abby was so upset about it, when she never choreographed any acro tricks in Chloe’s solos and plus Chloe still held her own in group, trios, etc.

Podcast What is the name of the mom they keep mispronouncing on BTTB?

There’s been 1-2 recent episodes of BTTB where they have talked about a new mom who’s “stalking” the new studio and keeps trying to get her daughter in. I’m a casual listener but it’s bugging me that Christi and Kelly are pronouncing it like “Curisity”. I don’t remember the name of the dancer to be able to google it but for my own sanity I need to see the spelling! Anyone know who I’m talking about?
(It’s season 6 first few episodes for reference)

Question/discussion dance moms s6 opinions!!

colder takes:

*the moms (jess and jill, mostly) massively bullied brynn. this is obviously a cold take because everybody and their mother knows this lol

*it’s lowkey bad parenting to not tell mackenzie that they were leaving, something that directly affects her (i am NOT calling melissa a bad parent, that would be stupid based on the fact that i don’t know her personally in the slightest, however it was a moment of poor parenting, or at the very least bad decision making)

*nia not getting picked for the trios was super upsetting, i wish she’d had a solo to make up for it (and don’t give me any of the “there wouldn’t be enough time to choreograph all of those numbers” shit, they’ve done several numbers in a short period of time dozens of times before). also…not a great look, even if not intentional (which i’m absolutely sure it wasn’t). don’t think i have to explain why

*i relate to mini peyton on a personal level, im so bad at remembering dances 😭 the fact that she and all the other minis (well, all the dancers in general) remembered so much in such a short period of time was super impressive

warmer(ish) takes:

*jessalynn was an instigator but im sorry i found her sooo funny 😭 in every single scene where there was an argument which didn’t involve her or jojo she was just laughing in the background and it made me laugh too

*the way kendall was propped up as abby’s number two girl all of a sudden was…confusing to me? naturally she improved a LOT over the show’s progression but i still found her veryyy lacking in the emotions department, kalani/brynn is an obvious choice for a “maddie backup” imo

*also. this is more of a jab at the producers for choosing to not air certain things but the way everybody was like “kendall and maddie have been duet partners for YEARS!!!” had me like ??? when ??? 😭 apparently they had a ton of duets together that just weren’t aired/weren’t competed but like. why not show some examples in an episode if you want to highlight them as duet partners? i guess you could just go online and try and find their duets together but it’s a little annoying to not be shown this information directly. i looked it up and apparently pre season 6 they only did two duets together (that were actually aired). just doesn’t scream CONTINUOUS duet partner to me idk i never really saw them as this really important dynamic, the bond between people like mackenzie and nia or chloe and maddie seemed much more genuine and compelling to me

*i didn’t care when they tried to bring christy and sarah back for an episode like im sorry i just dont give a shit, these are brynn storyline reheated nachos from only like. 5 episodes ago 😭

*i…don’t think grifters is thaaat bad. don’t get me wrong it’s still a very difficult watch, and also not nia’s fault that she forgot, the choreography was kind of shitty to start with and not to mention she only had a day to learn it. but i think i can probably name 5 duets from the show that were worse than it. also side note but i wonder if nia also messed up in the judged version or only the recorded version? if somebody knows please let me know!

*i have no idea if this is a hot take but jojo absolutely should have placed in her michael jackson solo, thought she was super fun. new york dance experience is always an odd competition anyway, sometimes the feedback they give doesn’t line up with how they place. like with the baseball group dance the judges were like “we LOVE IT!!!” only for it to not place 😭

*ashlee is a lot worse than i remember in terms of her behaviour. don’t get me wrong the moms never tried to make an effort with her, but she was always starting something particularly with kendall (though in case you couldn’t tell i’m also not kendall’s biggest fan). kendall’s “why are you so mean?” moment was…kind of valid? the social media comment was so unnecessary. according to ashlee that entire fight was scripted because jill and kendall had an audition to go to, and the producers told them to stage a fight so that she could leave early. but even so, the shit that ashlee said took it too far, you can’t convince me that kendall was purely putting on an act to leave early. idk, i just find ashlee incredibly polarising in general, especially because her political opinions are…definitely less than favourable, really don’t like her (her twitter is a MESS). body tea tho unfortunately.

Question/discussion Gianna is the exact same as Abby, difference is she keeps her thoughts to herself

When I watched it when I was younger, I thought she was just someone who stood to the side and helped out with classes.

I never actually realized how snarky she is when nobody is looking, it’s so subtle that you don’t even see it. I know this isn’t a hot take but I just never realized it up until rewatching it.
