Discussion 📣 r/dance is looking for 1–2 new moderators! 💃🕺

Hey dancers!

As our community continues to grow and evolve, I’d love to bring 1–2 additional people onto the moderation team who are genuinely excited about dance and want to help make r/dance an active, encouraging, and welcoming space for dancers around the world.

I’m especially looking for moderators who can be present in the community regularly — engaging with members, answering questions when you can, helping keep conversations positive, and making sure posts are being moderated fairly and efficiently.

That can include:

• Engaging with posts and helping keep the community active

• Welcoming and encouraging dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels

• Reviewing posts that may have been automatically removed or flagged

• Making sure appropriate posts don’t get stuck in the moderation queue

• Helping enforce subreddit rules and keeping spam/inappropriate content out

• Helping us think of new ways to increase participation, conversation, and overall community morale

You absolutely do NOT have to be a professional dancer to apply. I’m much more interested in finding people who care about dance, understand online communities, communicate well, and genuinely want to help make r/dance a great place to be.

If you’re interested, please send me a private message with:

  1. A little about yourself and your connection to dance

  2. Any Reddit or community moderation experience you have (if any — experience is helpful, but not necessarily required!)

  3. Why you’d like to become a moderator of r/dance

  4. How frequently you’re typically active on Reddit

I’d love to build a small team of people who are excited about bringing more energy, conversation, support, and connection into this community.

If that sounds like you, send me a message! ❤️

Let’s keep r/dance moving. 💃🏽🕺🏽

Discussion Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post

Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:

My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!

How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - There would be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.

If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments

If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section

Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.

Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! ✨️

Skilled Making a dance video til I’m skinny Day 81…

1.0k Upvotes

Hello wonderful humans .

I had an extremely busy night and I made a long post, but for some reason it got flagged and I don’t have time to retype the whole thing

Looking forward to my week off, which starts tomorrow I fly out early in the morning so I won’t be posting for the next seven days, I might post one video, but I’m not gonna put any pressure on myself. I need to rest my muscles. This is the only seven days off of the whole month I get so it’s time to chill out and have a nice warm bath and sleep.

I am going to a nightclub with my friends on Saturday for someone’s birthday. I haven’t seen them all in months so this should be very nice time for a reveal and I’m looking forward to a wonderful evening.

I hope everybody has a great week and an even better weekend and I will see you all next week

Your boy,
Bob.E.Bland ❤️❤️❤️

Amateur Mastering Line Dancing ☺️

First time posting!! 🥳 recently got into line dancing because learning the steps scratches my brain just right and I’m obsessed! This is a snippet of the steps for “Early in the Morning” by The Gap Band! Going to start making it a habit to get up every morning and practice these songs that I know so that I can really pop out at the line dancing clubs one day! 😎

Discussion Bursitis and Hip Pain! Ballet! Help!!

• Upvotes

I had a right foot injury in ballet twice and have had an x-ray and ultrasound. The ultrasound has come back to say I have bursitis between my 3rd and 4th metatarsal. The thing is I am also getting pain on the side of my foot so they are (hopefully) referring me for an MRI. I am now developing hip pain in my right side due to this after walking my hip and right foot / side kills me.

Do I see a Chriopractor? Or a Podiatrist for gait analysis? The gait analysis is £200+! but don't know what to do :( Thank you!

Home practice floor - looking for advice!

We have a garage (concrete floor) that we're going to convert to use for dancing and maybe a home gym but Irish dancing as the main purpose!

I have gym mats that are 15mm thick....I'm hoping to put laminate flooring on top and then tape pond liner on top.

Can anyone advise if this is an ok approach? Any pitfalls to be aware of? Going to put mirrors along one wall and maybe get a bar as well (not attached to wall) but the floor is the main thing for now

Any advice would be welcome! I'm based in Ireland.

Discussion Dancers with flat feet, what shoes do you dance in??

Ugh I’m in this rabbit hole after getting some ankle flareups. I find that shoes are either too sticky for footwork (which strains my feet), or lack ankle support (which has rolling risk), or has rly bad shock absorption for jumps (Nike Shox TL I’m looking at u)

I’ve been wearing New Balance 530s which are fairly comfy for me but they’re almost too flexible and they do stick a bit at the back of my sole which makes footwork hard.

I’ve danced in air Jordan 1s and for the most part it’s been okay but I’m wondering if there’s something that can support my arch better. Otherwise I guess I have to just throw an insole in I guess (prolly gonna do it anyway).

But still~ please send me some recommendations. I’m curious about other NB, Asics, Adidas & Hoka. But honestly any rec is fine.

I have tried:
- Nike air max 95 (not bad)
- Nike Shox Engima 9000 (surprisingly not bad actually)
- Nike air Jordan 1 highs (it’s ok)
- Nike Air Force 1 (I hate these they’re too heavy and stiff)
- adidas superstar (hate these cause they’re too heavy and stiff too)
- Nike Shox TL (HORRIBLE!!! Doesn’t take the impact that well tbh and wears easily + bad support around the ankle. Looks cute tho!
- new Balance 530 (almost good minus what I said earlier)

Please help me out! Btw Fuego is a last resort for me cause im not that into the split sole thing.

EDIT: I do hiphop, commercial, & afro fusion

Discussion Pursuing dance career in a desperate situation

My girlfriend has danced for 12 years professionally, participating in national competitions and dance camps with pro choreographers, teaching kids how to dance, and even getting approved to become a trainee in Korea’s one of the best studios (not completed due to COVID-19). She is now 18 and reached a state of an almost complete despair: her parents did not allow her to continue dancing professionally, she was forced to go study in China (a Business degree…), she lost her dream and hates dance with each day more and more. Personal circumstances had broken her even more.

There are no opportunities to dance professionally where she resides (about 3-4 hours from Shanghai - the closest place with good dance studios, already tried to go to another city to dance (2 hour trip turned to be 4 hours) - time-consuming and too stressful to her), and she is completely dissatisfied with the situation. She complained to her parents who finally could give her a chance (not in dance, but just somewhere else where she could move next year).

What would be the most ‘rational’ way of resolving this? How to support her right now? If she moves to other country (where she presumably will adapt easier) continuing study in the uni, how to transform the state of a ‘lost dream’ into a mindset of finding new opportunities to dance?

P.S. She dances contemporary, hip-hop, heels and afro, all at a pro level. She dreams of getting into 1MILLION dance studio or dance with celebrities like BTS, Kendrick Lamar, etc.
