We're currently at "Level 4: Moderate Dinginess" on the custodial service ranking scale, just one step above "Unkempt Neglect - Crisis."
Cow poo smells better than "stained, marked, and sour-smelling trash containers."

I lost a gold necklace on campus sometime October 15, and I’m hoping someone might have found it or seen it.
I was around Giedt, TLC, Silo, Kerr Hall, SCC, the Library second floor, and parking lot behind Tercero yesterday, so I think I may have lost it somewhere in or around those buildings.
The necklace is a small gold chain with a baby jesus pendant. It has a lot of sentimental value to me. My grandma bought it for me before she passed and had my aunt keep it and gift it to me on my quinceañera on her behalf. I would really appreciate it if anyone who found it could please reach out to me!
And if anyone has seen it, please let me know. Thank you so much! 🩷

(0.00/no prescription) as the title goes. Any color is cool. Would be ideal if someone bought in bulk and is not gonna use a pair

I am now in my second year living not too close from campus and main transportation to and from work has been the bus. I lived in the dorms freshman year so my days during the rain wasn't too bad.
I was wondering how the bus situation is when it rains, and whether I should start thinking about biking or scooters.

I’m still new here, and I heard we need a blue book for free responses on the midterm? I’m so used to just doing scantrons and writing on the exams, but I’ve never heard of a blue book before. I’m not sure where to get one or what it looks like if anyone could help out it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know why, but everytime I walk on the grass near Cruess Hall in the morning/afternoon, I come back with a few bug bites on my ankle and leg. Its so itchy and it hurts when I scratch it. I usually wear jeans that reach to the bottom of my heels and my socks are up to my ankle,s o idk why this happens. Is this common?

I am an out of state student and come from a place with zero cockroaches so upon coming to davis, ive discovered how much I fear cockroaches. Ive previously lived in a 4rth floor dorm and never encountered any cockroaches so it wasnt a huge issue but this year ive moved to a ground floor apartment. I took may measures to prevent the presence of any cockroaches like keeping everything clean, installing meshes for vents, and I've even been going out of my way to look at videos of roaches to lessen my fears. I've already had trouble sleeping at the possibility of there being a cockroach but tonight, I actually woke up to the sight of a roach in my room. When i saw it i screamed and ran out of my room immediately. My entire body just went numb and i started to cry and the intense fear and emotion i felt in that moment made me call suicide hotline just to talk to someone (i am not suicidal). Luckily my roomate was woken up by the commotion and killed the cockroach with such ease that it made me laugh a little.
I was not able to sleep and I realize I must overcome this fear of roaches to not let fear take over my life. Does anybody know how to overcome this fear or have done so before? Is there anywhere I could get professional help for this?

I’m a first year and am looking for a club or community to join.
I feel like I haven’t found my people yet on campus, and people were telling me to join clubs.
Is there any club that is fun and easy to make friends?

So I’m worried that I got my UC waiver denied and I can’t pay the 1,308. I just started working and it’s only part time. I got a job at the DC and it sucks but it’s better than nothing. I was hoping to stay on my parents insurance plan throughout college so I wouldn’t have to pay but the college was expecting so much and I tried to explain to them that the clinic would get back to me and I tried calling but they didn’t call me back. I don’t know what to do and I need help.
Does anyone have any advice?

I was planning on using a guest pass to visit a family member but just realized they don’t allow overnight parking. I’m at a loss of what to do. He lives on campus. I was leaving on Monday to drive the 6 hours to Davis. What are my options? Does anyone live off campus but still nearby that would be willing to accommodate a small Toyota (I can pay!)? Thank you!

My current apartment complex will soon be ran by Vaughn Management Group, which also owns the properties listed in the title. What should I expect and/or brace myself for in terms of management and related services?

The new class of unemployed, the overly educated unemployed.
A friend of mine, who graduated from the University of California (UC DAVIS), is currently living in a van because he hasn't been able to find a job. Desperate to change his situation, he reached out to his county worker for help. Initially, the worker suggested the usual resources, unemployment centers and basic career services. But once he realized that my friend has a degree and no criminal history, it became clear that he was dealing with a different kind of situation.
My friend has applied to over a thousand jobs, yet he’s repeatedly told he’s either underqualified or overqualified, if he even gets a response at all. He’s applied for numerous state jobs, where he’s often met with initial interest, only to be ghosted later. The constant rejection is taking a toll, and he’s starting to lose hope.
In talking with his county worker, they came to the conclusion that he’s part of a new and growing class: the overeducated unemployed. Sadly, most of our current services are geared towards those with fewer qualifications, people who may lack basic skills, but that’s not the issue here. The problem is that, despite having the skills and education, nobody is hiring them.
As AI continues to advance, this class of unemployed is likely to grow. So, what are we supposed to do? What happens when the overeducated, who were once considered assets to society, can’t find work? In the U.S., unemployment often leads to homelessness. It's a harsh reality.
But there’s hope. This new class of unemployed is more capable of organizing than previous generations. My hope is that they can come together to form a union or lobbying group, advocating for the overeducated who are being pushed into poverty. It’s often a lack of education that hinders people from organizing, but this new class has that in spades. They need to fight for themselves and refuse to be dismantled like the previous class.
Thank you.
Feel free to DM me if you want to start working together to fight for change!
