I made a list of the cheapest prices across the grocery stores I go to near the University. I only really included things I buy so of course it isn't too extensive, but hopefully it helps some of yall.
Amazon
TJ
Target
Safeway
Mi Tierra Foods
Berkeley Bowl

for anyone taking the class this semester, what do we do if we’re in the position where I’ve passed every topic but failed both synthesis questions especially when the TAs mentioned it’s gonna be close to impossible to pass all 3 synthesis questions on the final? and there’s no hope for them to lower grade bins because the midterm distributions didn’t require it….. this is so cooked 😭

I'm anticipating being bored this weekend and wanted to walk from central Berkeley (say Downtown BART) to Lake Merritt and BARTing back. I would consider walking even further, to Fruitvale or Coliseum. I've done the crosstown trail in SF, and wanted to do an East Bay version.
Has anyone done anything like this? What are some things to see along the way?
I understand this will be a very different vibe from the Crosstown trail in SF, but I'd like to appreciate Oakland and all of its cultural attractions more.

Does anyone else find it awkward as hell trying to talk to people in their classes? I swear I'm not normally a super awkward person but like why are conversations with your classmates so awkward and stiff 😭 even when I see them every week and walk to class together. I just want pset buddies and friends too lmao

We’re done with the discrete portion of the class but why do I feel like I have no clue what discrete math is. Why did we just learn a bunch of random facts about numbers and random algorithms. I’m doing well in the class but it feels like what I’ve learned is pretty disjointed and inconsequential.
This is not a dig at the professor btw Sabin is the goat and taught everything incredibly well, I guess I just don’t understand the point of the content, does it become useful at some point like in your career or in later classes? I’m just confused what the practical purpose of learning these random algorithms is
TLDR it just kinda feels like a bunch of disconnected topics that don’t build to anything significant

I'm taking cs61b, cs189, and a breadth next sem. i'm also planning on adding one of eecs126 or eecs127. I'm more interested in ml so i've heard 127 is better for that.
Is 127 with Gireeja Vishnu Ranade or 126 Benjamin Recht better for sp27?

Hello,
I heard that Berkeley public libraries offers Nintendo Switch games, but I haven't been able to find them on its website. Are they only available to browse in person? I'd love to borrow some games, but I'd like to know which branches carry which games. Also, can SF residents borrow them and return them to the library? In other words, am I eligible to get a Berkeley library card?

The instructors for MATH 185 (Introduction to Complex Analysis) in the spring are Vinh Nguyen, Joshua Mundinger, Felix Weilacher, Koichi Oyakawa, Michael J Ragone, and David Gao. Has anyone heard anything about these folks? I don't know anything about them beyond the fact that they are all postdocs or fellows.

Fri Oct 16 7:30pm-11pm - I accidentally dropped my leather jacket walking from downtown Berkeley station ---> thru campus, turn towards Chicha San Chen then left onto Durant to Top Dog --> turn left at Artichokes past Chengdu Cuisine towards campus --> to Greek theater. Highly likely it was lost between Top Dog and Greek theater.
JACKET DESCRIPTION: plain black, collared leather jacket, two triangle shaped tears (one on collar one on the back), left chest has a subtle circular imprint of a bridge design that says 'WEST APPROACH'. High sentimental value. S/M women's fit.
If anyone has any leads, sightings, lost and found suggestions, or picked it up and can kindly return it please reach out. I retraced my steps exactly, but couldn't locate it after it dropped from my bag. Thank u in advance!

Has anyone successfully cancelled their campus housing contract for the spring semester while staying enrolled at Berkeley? What are the chances of getting approved, and how long did it take? I heard Housing needs to find an eligible replacement. I'd appreciate hearing about your experience!

I haven't taken COMPSCI 61A, COMPSCI/DATA C88C, or ENGIN 7 or linear algebra. I've taken Stat 20 and up to calc 3 (at community college). I'm assuming no, but thought I'd ask.
I'm a graduating senior and wish I had chosen a different major (data/cogsci, preferably), but alas, here I am. Is it even worth it to try? It's being taught by Josh Grossman if that makes a difference.

Don’t know what the deal right now is, but no cal ID card scan is working for entrance to on campus buildings. This has been tested for MLK, Campbell Hall, and Birge Hall, so it’s safe to say it won’t work elsewhere. Some of the alternative scanners still work since they’re manually programmed, but the newer modern ones don’t.

Hi everyone! I am a Spring 2027 transfer admit and wanted to hear about what people’s experiences are like when looking for roommates and housing, specifically off-campus housing around the area. I’m looking for any recommendations for off-campus living and any websites/suggestions to find affordable and safe options near campus?

The line seems longer than usual. Walked by this morning and there was a long line. Walked by after class and the line was still there👀. Is there a promo or something?
