American here. When I go to Canada, I'll sometimes go to Tim Hortons to get a breakfast item. I treat it like Dunken Donuts.
I went on a trip through Quebec recently and my experience with Tim's was very different than other parts of Canada. I had three different encounters:
First one was normal. Order a breakfast wrap and it was out quick and fine.
Second one: No one was manning the counter and it had one of those order touch screen panels. Fine, I'm used to those. That thing had a credit card reader but the touch screen would only display gift cards as a payment option so couldn't complete my order. Flag someone down to take the other manually. Just a wrap, a bagel, and coffee. Coffee comes almost immediately. It's warm, not hot. Not a big deal.
The food items take forever, and the place wasn't that busy. Took over 10 minutes. Had to flag someone down to get it done. While driving, I bit into the wrap the hashbrown was still frozen. Gross.
Third place: ordered a herb pastry and a chocolate croissant. I know they charged me for both. Server only gave me the herb pastry. When I asked about the croissant they said I didn't order it. I wasn't about to get back in line, as I had to get back on the road.
Is there some sort of difference in service quality in Quebec versus the rest of Canada? I've been to Toronto and the ones along the route were always fine. Nova Scotia was fine.
