American High, the Liverpool-based production company behind teen movies like “Summer of 69,″ “Big Time Adolescence” and “The Binge,” is launching its first-ever TV show on Netflix. “Minimum Wage” will premiere its first 14 episodes on Oct. 26; another 14 episodes will be released at a later date.
Based on the original American High Shorts videos on YouTube and social media, “Minimum Wage” follows a group of teens struggling to run a local pizzeria while juggling school, a manic boss and low pay. The ensemble comedy features new “Saturday Night Live” cast member Grace Reiter and her fellow American High Shorts alumni Tommy Armstrong, Luke Burke, Julia DiCesare, Hyde Healy, Aidan Micho, and Ryan Micho, plus “Fresh Off the Boat” star Randall Park.
They all work in a fictional restaurant named The Slice Club, which took over the former Limp Lizard Bar & Grill (previously Mother’s Restaurant) on First Street in the Village of Liverpool.
American High bought the building in March for $515,000 after the BBQ restaurant closed its Liverpool location in November. Outside signage and decor led some local residents to believe The Slice Club was a real pizzeria, so people would sometimes accidentally walk on set while scenes were filming.

This is a pretty significant Micron supply chain announcement for Central New York.
Micron announced today that it is investing in Indium Corporation’s Indium Corporation operations in Rome, NY, helping the company expand its ability to refine and manufacture high-purity materials used in semiconductor production.
The exact dollar amount of Micron’s investment was not disclosed.
As part of the agreement, Micron and Indium Corporation will also enter into a long-term supply agreement giving Micron access to these high-purity materials. Micron says the goal is to restart more critical-mineral processing here in the U.S. and reduce reliance on concentrated overseas refining capacity.
Indium Corporation has been based in Central New York for more than 90 years. Its broader materials business includes indium, gallium, germanium and tin, along with other materials used in semiconductor, electronics and advanced manufacturing.
This investment is part of Micron’s previously announced plan to spend up to $3 billion strengthening its U.S. semiconductor supply chain, separate from the money being spent directly on fabs. Micron also says its total planned U.S. fab and technology investment now exceeds $250 billion through 2035.
There were also comments from several state and local leaders.
Governor Kathy Hochul said expanding the supply chain in New York creates “more opportunities for families” while strengthening the Upstate economy.
Senator Senator Chuck Schumer again described Upstate New York as “America’s new semiconductor superhighway,” saying this is the type of supplier investment he expected to follow Micron.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon pointed to the regional impact, saying a semiconductor cluster “doesn’t stop at the county line.”
Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. made a similar point about the regional approach, saying, “What’s good for one, is good for all.”
What I find most interesting here is that this isn’t another company simply opening an office near Micron. It is an existing Central New York manufacturer expanding part of the actual semiconductor materials supply chain, with a long-term supply relationship directly with Micron.
It will be worth watching how many more of these investments start showing up outside of Clay as the supplier network continues to develop.

Another pretty big advanced manufacturing announcement for Upstate New York. Please React, Follow the page, and Share!
The company will use about 500,000 square feet and has committed to at least 90 new jobs to start, with more than 200 direct New York jobs expected over time.
Some operations are expected to begin in 2027, with full production planned for 2028. Once fully up and running, the facility is expected to separate about 18,000 tons of rare earth material each year, enough to produce roughly 3,000 tons of rare earth metals at the company’s downstream facilities.
These materials end up in a lot of things we use and talk about regularly, including electronics, electric vehicles, communications equipment, medical technology, advanced manufacturing and defense systems.
One of the reasons this matters is where most of this processing happens today. According to the state, China currently processes about 90% of the world’s rare earth minerals.
Governor Kathy Hochul said the project could play a “critical role in bolstering our national security” by reducing reliance on foreign sources of critical minerals.
Phoenix Tailings CEO Nick Myers put it pretty directly, saying, “America and its allies cannot build the next generation of advanced manufacturing on a rare earth supply chain they do not control.”
Senator Senator Chuck Schumer also pointed to the bigger Upstate manufacturing picture, calling the region a “prime destination for new manufacturing investments.”
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello said the company’s technology is “transforming industrial waste into critical materials” used in everything from electric vehicles to advanced manufacturing.
There is public funding involved as well. New York is offering up to $3 million in performance-based tax credits. Phoenix Tailings has also received a $66 million federal Department of Energy grant, and there is a separate $500 million federal loan commitment that is still subject to final review.
Just to be clear, this is not a Micron project, and there has been no announced connection between Phoenix Tailings and Micron.
I still think it is worth following here because it is another large investment in the advanced manufacturing and critical-materials industry taking shape across Upstate New York.

My fiancé and I reserved the Green Lakes State Park Old Admin Bldg for our wedding next fall but noticed that the park requests everyone be out by dark. Anyone who has had an event/wedding there what was your experience with this rule? How strict were they? Did you just decide to move your event to more during the day? Thanks in advance!

Hi! I used to play a lot of maplestory back when I was younger, but most of my friends who played were online friends. I never really got to do the fun LAN party thing, never really had anyone to discuss the game with.
The grand launch for the game is tomorrow, and I'm wondering if anyone locally plans to play? Did you play before? What class will you choose?
It'd also be really rad to have a meet up since now mobile playing is so much simpler. I'm a reclusive shut in but I tell myself that would be fun.
Anyway, just seeing if there's anyone out there :)

Anyone else have issues with USPS? I moved in February to a new apartment and did mail forwarding for 6 months (or whatever the free timeframe is). My name is on the inside of my new mailbox. I am consistently having letters get returned to sender despite my address being correct, and mail pieces that show up in “Informed Delivery” have not arrived for me even weeks later. I know Informed Delivery doesn’t guarantee that the mail will be delivered that day, but I have waited a week for a letter and still not gotten it.
I filed a complaint back in July about the mail and basically got a non-answer from the local post office saying that sometimes this happens. But now I’m missing an important letter from the bank, so I filed a second complaint with hopes they take the issue more seriously this time.
I just wanted to see if it was only me having this issue or if it’s more widespread? I was thinking of contacting a local representative or something if a lot of people are experiencing this. You don’t need to tell me specifics, but any info helps!

Hi all — hoping to tap some local first-hand experience. I’m helping my elderly uncle get full dentures. He’s down to just a few teeth, so he’s heading toward extractions and a full set, and we’ll be paying out of pocket. We’re in the Auburn/Cayuga County area but can easily travel to Syracuse or Ithaca for the right person.
I’ve read a lot of horror stories and I really want to avoid him being pressured into something or stuck with dentures that never fit. So I’d love to hear:
Totally fine to DM me a name if you’d rather not post it publicly. Thank you — I’ll pay it forward with an update once he’s sorted.

Hi, I have a quick question from Rochester gal who is flying out of Syracuse tomorrow morning at 8 AM. I’m just wondering if anyone has any insight as to how busy the airport typically is for those morning flights I have TSA pre-check and I’m not checking a bag so therefore I’m thinking that I will be able to get through pretty quickly. I’m just wondering how early I truly need to leave. It’s about an hour and a half drive.
I’ve never flown out of Syracuse before so I don’t have any idea how their TSA lines are in general ha ha thank you in advance!

Hi there, I’m wondering if anyone knows of businesses that either offer long arming services or of places that rent a long arm. It’s an investment of money and space I just do not have but I’d love to be able to long arm the quilts that I complete. There are some within 2 hours of Syracuse but I wanted to know if there are local ones. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! I'm an out-of-state student at a different university who will be in Syracuse for around three months in January for an internship. I was looking at housing options, and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for maybe subleasing or something? I'm looking at the facebook groups and stuff, but if anyone has any advice, that would be very welcome!
Also I'm not sure if there's any information about this, but how is the transportation in Syracuse? Is it possible to get around without a car, or should I look into maybe renting one for three months?
