Sometimes I just scroll through Google maps to find elevated areas to watch the sunset, and I came across this spot over in East Greenbush. Absolutely beautiful. From the high end of the park you can see the Catskills and ESP. Not to mention the color!

Caturday at APF: Sweet Athena still waiting for her forever home

Athena is a very gentle, relaxed, and *very* friendly 6yo female. She's been at our shelter for awhile, but is still upbeat and sociable. I love spending time with her after my cat care duties, as do the other volunteers and staff.

If you or someone you know would be happy with a quiet, gentle cat who just wants to curl up with you this winter, please visit Athena at:

Animal Protective Foundation
53 Maple Ave, Glenville, NY 12302
12:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Tuesday – Saturday

Have a great Caturday!

Lost cellphone at Dave and busters

TO THE LADY WHO FOUND A BLACK IPHONE AT D&B THIS PAST WEDNESDAY AND LEFT IT AT THE ANGRY BIRD COIN GAME THANK YOU FOR NOT STEALING IT.

I was scared that for the first time ever I lost my phone (losing my wallet a few months back was way worse) I went to the mall security and called my mom and had her call my phone a dozen times. Eventually I went back down, and it was sitting on the table but man that was a quick little adventure I went on. That is the worst place to lose a belonging.

Albany USPS is the WORST

I can’t be the only one who has issues with this post office branch. They’re consistently sending packages to incorrect locations, or sitting on packages for days without moving them. Do better.

Albany Commuter Tax Proposed To Help Close $55 Million Deficit

I know there are a lot Albany apologists in this sub but I'm sorry this is absurd. Yonkers has a similar tax for those that work in Yonkers but reside elsewhere. This is just throwing darts at a wall to see what sticks.

Mechanic recommendation - Subaru

Subaru of Troy wants $1300 to replace the transmission speed sensor. We know this is a difficult job bc it’s hard to get to the sensor (bad design) but it really shouldn’t be more than $800-900.

This part died the day after service - not even 24 hours. Coincidentally, there was a very upset Customer when the husband was there. He loudly accused them of fraud and all kinds of stuff to do with his car repairs. They responded by telling him to leave or the police would make him leave. I think it’s quite possible they did something to our car to create the issue. They have pushed for unnecessary repairs before.

Got an honest and reasonably priced Subaru mechanic? We are in Albany but willing to travel some. We are not in a desperate hurry.

Tenant Rights Attorney Recommendations?!

Hi everyone! Does anyone have any recommendations for a tenant rights attorney? I’m looking to consult with someone to determine whether I can still pursue legal action against a former landlord for mold exposure, even though I’ve already moved out. I’d really appreciate any recommendations or advice. Thanks in advance!

Looking for extra work, and... (it's complicated).

I currently work part-time and need additional income ASAP. I’ve applied to dozens of jobs this month, but the job market seems to be playing hard to get. I’m available 3 full days a week plus nights and am willing to hustle!

About me -

  • 20 years of office/admin experience — currently an office manager.
  • Graphic designer with a B.A. from SUNY Empire, magna cum laude (and a scholarship, because apparently I peaked academically instead of financially... HA?).
  • Photography — taking and editing photos.
  • Cooking — I can feed you, too! (I have been cooking since I was 10, so ~30 years. Specialize in American, Italian & Jewish foods)

I’m open to immediate-hire jobs, private gigs, personal assistant work, home office help, cooking, shopping, or pretty much anything legitimate that pays.

I’m also offering bargain-basement rates on graphic design right now. Need flyers, menus, social media graphics, packaging, photo editing, or something else? I’m your person! DM me.

I’m not looking for a handout. I’m looking for a way to work my butt off, get hopefully become more financially stable for the sake of my family/kids.

If you know anyone hiring, need a freelancer, or have an idea I haven’t thought of, PLEASE comment or DM me. Even a lead could make a huge difference right now.

Lastly, yes I have a personal vehicle but no I am not open to doing Uber or Instacart. Tried both, neither worked out for me for multiple reasons. I prefer to drive as little as possible and I also would prefer to not be shopping in crowds all day. I am looking for more traditional employment. Yes, I use Indeed and I have been applying to NYS Helps jobs. I even still check Craigslist, and look at business as I drive by to see if there are hiring signs.

Thank you in advance. Seriously.

Dentist recommendations near Delaware Ave that take EmblemHealth?

Hey everyone,
I’m moving to the Delaware Ave area soon and need to find a local dentist. Does anyone have a good recommendation in or around the neighborhood that accepts EmblemHealth dental insurance?
I don't drive, so I'm hoping to find a place that is relatively close by or easily accessible via public transit/CDTA routes from Delaware Ave.
I’ve heard the Emblem network can be a bit tricky up here, so any personal experiences with offices that handle the insurance smoothly would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

Fire

I just moved here from Jacksonville, Fl and grew up in Pensacola. An avid camper and spring hunter down south and really a little black redneck. Are there any nature preserves or areas to light fires? I work in insulation and have visited the Adirondack’s almost every week and it seems like there is fire bans all over the state. Wtf do you guys go to stay warm?? But yea just wanted to sit at a waterfall or lake or anything and cook on a fire. If possible please let me know, thanks guys 😌

Wildwood school

I’m wondering if anyone on here has any information on the wildwood school for special needs children in Schenectady. I can’t seem to find much about it as far as personal experiences go.
