if you're not Boycotting its okay, your deed. but please ATLEAST don't promote the boycotted brands !

why is it so difficult for you to stay silent when these companies introduce discounts and offers when it's so easy for you to stay silent when hundreds of innocent lives including children are murdered daily.

Found a turtle on a busy road here in Islamabad. I have never even seen a turtle before. I looked it up on gemini, it instructed to leave it as is or in a pond nearby, so I drove 5 minutes to a nearby pond and left it there. I left it near the pond, and it went into the pond by itself

Education Help me instill love of books in my nieces and nephew

• Upvotes

Assalamualaikum

I have a 9 and an 8 yo nephew and niece (two more nieces but much younger) and I want them to fall in love with reading.

They have just begun going on a dangerous road of online games and yt shows, and I intend to change that!

Anyone who has gone through this before with any worthwhile suggestions is highly appreciative.

Some background on kids:

My nephew is a good structural thinker, he likes to make interesting stuff and work with legos. Frankly I am not that worried about him, as he usually watches very interesting stuff online and has the willpower to stop when he wants.

My niece however is very susceptible to letting her mind wander and be more playful and easy going. She yet has to show a spark. And she's showing dangerous tendency of watching stuff snd completely relying on video content to do the thinking for her. She shuts her brain and just goes with the flow, without contemplating the meaning of stuff that is happening around her.

Any info on strategies, types of books and changes in environment that may help?

Health i need help

(m, 17)

for the past few weeks my body has been completely out of my control. i’m having severe panic attacks and the physical symptoms are terrifying. my heart races so fast i genuinely feel like it’s going to explode or stop. my breathing gets so heavy and shallow that it feels like i’m suffocating. i can't catch my breath.

the worst part is the shaking. my legs shake so violently that i can't stand or walk properly when the attacks hit. if i'm on my bed, they just hit against the mattress uncontrollably. my hands tremble so badly i can't hold a pen to write. it feels like my whole nervous system is short-circuiting.

it's gotten so bad that i can't study for my o level exams. i have my last caie for this session (cs p2 on this monday) but i can't focus, i can't sleep, i have no appetite, and i've lost weight because of it. my body feels so weak and depleted. i try to do past papers, but the anxiety just takes over and i physically can't finish them.

i feel so incredibly alone in this. i tried to hug my ammi today, and i was shaking and couldn't breathe. she kept asking what was wrong but i couldn't get the words out. i just went back to my room.

i'm writing this because i can't find the words to say it out loud when it's happening. i'm terrified. i need help. i can't fight this by myself anymore.

plus with this, im getting constant thoughts of death and dying and i don’t even know what to do with myself anymore…

i’ve stopped reaching out or responding to people and ofc the ppl ik have taken it as silence from my end that paper stress mein hoga but it’s much more than that…

Education Are students taught about Mohammad Iqbal in pak????

I mean do they teach his philosophy deeply or even on a basic level????
Cuz i see islamic scholars misinterpret many times and they take him and his philosophy emotionally rather being critical and trying to understand.

Education Fresh grad w a foreign degree in Pakistan: no hope? :/

• Upvotes

Hi guys, i 24F graduated this year w a bachelors in biomedical engineering abroad and recently came back to pakistan. I know this field isnt particularly popular in pakistan but im hoping my foreign degree would give me an edge in the market and in other departments ie. regulations etc surrounding engineering.

Im sort of clueless on pakistani work culture, interviewing (one scheduled soon) and just generally working as a professional in pakistan. Lately there have been some job vacancies but ive got zero responses. I feel like the fact that im not integerated with the market and work culture here is limiting my chances of getting hired? I saw some job adverts with "male candidates only" disclaimer and it let me down so much. Moreover, my urdu isnt the best and im definitely not aware of any urdu coporate lingo if there is any.

Ive got exceptional language skills and just a very can do attitude when it comes to tasks because thats just what i did during uni but what i keep hearing about toxic work culture in pakistan, bootlicking, and just facing hurdles as a fresh grad, i feel like i would have zero tolerance towards it and just drop out. I worked an informal internship at a local hospital a year ago, and my experience was close to bad, i was just not "seen" by any of the employees there.

I really am ambitious and all these applications and rejections (from multiple countries btw) have demotivated me so much.

Looking for hope, tips and advice on how to combat this depressing, if otherwise job hunt.

Research Looking for recommendations for an assisted living facility.

Hi all! I would appreciate some advice on the following:

- A women that is 65 years old. She recently went through a kidney surgery and is recovering. However, in the past she hasn’t complied with medication and also generally needs consistent care and we’re looking for options in Karachi, Lahore, or Islamabad (or elsewhere) where consistent care can be offered. There are also a few psychological concerns and I’m wondering if there are any places that might have any assistance to offer along those lines too. (For example, we’re looking at House of Blessings in Karachi. Will contact them soon to see how they feel about the psychological aspects that require care too). Please don’t suggest Willing Ways etc. as we’ve tried those, and we’re also looking for a long term option too. We’re mostly concerned about how she refuses to take medication. Currently, as she’s recovering she’s taking medication but will likely resist in the future.

Please don’t judge on this post. There are a lot of dynamics here that have not been mentioned. I would just love any advice or any suggestions.

Financial Medical Help Required — Please Support My Treatment

Thumbnail

Assalamu Alaikum,

I am from Pakistan and urgently need financial assistance for my medical investigations and treatment. My CT scan revealed a mass measuring approximately 7.9 cm on the left side of my chest.

I was previously given medication for tuberculosis (TB), but the mass has not shown a clear reduction. Doctors at Jinnah Hospital are now arranging an MRI, after which they will decide whether further tests or a biopsy are needed.

Unfortunately, I am struggling to afford the cost of these medical investigations and any subsequent treatment. I do not yet have an exact hospital cost estimate, but I am initially seeking PKR 20,000–50,000 to help cover my medical expenses.

I sincerely request anyone who is able to help to please consider donating. Even a small contribution can make a difference. If you cannot donate, I would be grateful if you could share my appeal with others.

I have my CT scan report and doctor's referral documents available for verification if needed.

May Allah reward everyone who supports me and bless you all with good health and happiness. Ameen.

Donations: JazzCash / Easypaisa Please message me privately for payment details.

Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.

Discussion What is 'freshie'

Since I was 11, I've had a lot of the word thrown at me. I know it's something derogatory, but wherever I look I can't find one proper definition.

Is it the way someone looks? Acts? Talks?

It just sucks being excluded

Ask Pakistan Went looking for a heated pool for my mother and got reminded that I am a bloody civilian

My mother still swims at Pindi Gymkhana, but their pool isn't heated. She asked me to find somewhere near Scheme 3 with a heated pool and ladies timings. I found a sports complex in Chaklala Garrison that was listed online as open to civilians, so we stopped there on the way to the office.

At the gate we were told, quite rudely, that we couldn't enter unless someone inside called for us. The club had no public phone number listed that I could find. We used to know people inside the garrison but don't currently, so I wasn't sure how we were supposed to contact the place to ask about joining.

After some explaining they spoke to their seniors and let us through. They kept my CNIC and took my name, my father's name and the driver's name. We reached the club and the reception was closed. So the whole exercise achieved nothing.

On the way out, we were told to park well away from the gate and collect the card. I tried explaining that reception had been closed and we would need to come back. Before I could properly explain, I was told to wait outside. Eventually the man came back and said we could visit again.

Nothing dramatic happened. They let us in, returned my card and said we could come back. But the way we were spoken to stayed with me.

We were in my father's Land Cruiser, dressed for the office. I mention that because unfortunately in Pakistan those things often affect how people treat you. If this is the attitude towards someone arriving like that, what does a man arriving on a bike have to put up with? Does he even get as far as speaking to a senior?

People who know me know I already have a negative view of the army and generally avoid dealing with them. I went because my mother wanted somewhere to swim. I understand checking visitors at a military gate. What I don't understand is why that requires speaking to people as though they are a nuisance for asking.

So much of Rawalpindi feels like somewhere I live beside but cannot actually enter without permission, an introduction or leaving my identity card behind. Even trying to enquire about a swimming pool becomes a reminder of who has authority and who has to stand outside explaining himself.

If a facility is open to civilians, give us a working contact number and a clear way to visit. And speak to us normally. I shouldn't need to know an officer for my mother to ask about a pool.

Financial How to do savings?

I'm 20M and I want to save money for buying a new laptop with a GPU (probably Lenovo legion 5). I am a student in University and currently in 5th semester pursuing BS in Artificial intelligence.

Now my pocket money is approximately 15k per month. I think of saving every time but I just cannot. I also live in a hostel that makes it more difficult to do so. My target is at least 5k per month so that I could contribute at least 50k in the laptop whenever I buy it.

Hi guys, i wanted your opinions on upcycled streetwear like the ones in pictures attached.

Would you guys prefer buying something like this in pakistan?

If yes, then what would you pay for a shirt/hoodie of this sort?

Also have you seen something like this in the market or any existing brands doing something like this?

Do you think with proper marketing, this can work out?

Any suggestions are welcomed, thankyou .
