Please use this post only to offer or request orchids for trade or sale. Before you post what you'd like to trade/sell, or what you're looking to trade for, read the rules below first!
Rules:
1.) No personal information can be exchanged publicly. Conduct sharing of addresses via pm or email.
2.) Post what orchid(s) you have for trade, what you're looking for in return. If you have pictures, post them or write an accurate description of the orchid you want to trade or sell. If you're selling, post how you'd like to receive compensation.
3.) If you agree to a trade and have an issue on your end of the deal, communicate! Most people are reasonable and will understand a delay or an unexpected issue that comes up. That being said, trade at your own risk. The moderators are not responsible for privately conducted trades gone wrong. However, if there's an issue with an ongoing trade do contact the moderators. If someone fails to come through with their end of the deal, ignores communication or otherwise is being problematic we need to make the community aware of deadbeat traders. Do NOT make posts calling people out, insulting, harassing, or making accusations at them publicly.
4.) Only make legal trades here. If you ship or receive a trade overseas or out of your country, make sure all proper paperwork is in place first if required.
5.) Ship within a reasonable time and pack well. Flat rate Priority, 2-3 day via USPS within the US is standard for plants. Use whichever shipping method is appropriate for other countries. Your orchid shouldn't spend more than a 2-3 days in the mail so they don't suffer too much from the heat/cold. While in cooler weather its generally better to ship orchids totally dry, its probably best to water any more moisture loving plants a day or two before they ship out (so they are moist but not soggy) or wrap some sphagnum that has been wetted but thoroughly squeezed out around the roots of bare root plants.
6.) If you've successfully traded, update your post to make sure it availability is accurate.
Giveaways, and just trying to re-home an orchid that maybe just isn't performing for you is totally fine to post too! You never know who might want to try growing it. Seed pods are also a great thing to offer since many people may want to try flasking and it is safer and easier to send seeds than plants. If everyone trades fairly this is a great way to add to your collection or get rid of orchids you are bored with or are willing to make divisions of.
Happy trading!

Some flowers to share on this Ctsm. Mem. Gary Polmanter.
Got this at my local orchid society a couple months ago and have been growing it in my kitchen under some lights. It's got another spike on the way and I'm hoping the cold weather doesn't get in the way of another set of flowers. Fingers crossed!

I went away for a few nights, and upon my return, my Encyclia cochleata had opened up this bud 🥰 I love this orchid; such an alien and eye-catching bloom. That's exactly what drew me to it in the first place, at an orchid show back in April. This is my first Cattleya alliance orchid, and it's somewhat less forgiving than my Phals or oncidium (as you can tell by the accordion leaf—sorry buddy). But still, it's been a fun learning experience, and highly rewarding to take it from barely-visible new pseudobulb to flower. It's fragrant, too—it smells exactly like honey!

Best bloom yet. Seven flowers!
Don't worry, she doesn't live on the floor. I needed a solid, dark background to feature her gorgeous flowers.

Had to bring in some of my vandas for the winter. Everything at least half coerulea stays out in the unheated backyard greenhouse. The minis and seedlings have their own grow tent.

Hi everyone! I’m a beginner when it comes to orchids, and I could really use some advice on how to care for mine.
My orchid’s original flower spike died during a recent move. During the move i transported my plants in the summer heat, and I’m pretty sure my orchid may have developed some sort of fungus afterward. I haven’t been entirely sure what was going on with it, so I’ve been hesitant to water it. It’s now been a couple momths since I last watered it, and I’m honestly not sure what to do next.
Despite everything, it looks like there’s some new growth! I’m not sure whether it’s a new root or a flower spike, but I’m hoping that’s a good sign.
I’ve been considering repotting it, but I don’t know if that’s the right move or what kind of potting medium I should use. I also don’t want to make things worse if it’s already struggling.
Here are some questions I have:
Should I repot it? How can I tell if it needs repotting, especially if it may have had a fungal issue?
What kind of potting medium should I buy? Should I use orchid bark, sphagnum moss, or a mix of both? I know regular potting soil isn’t recommended.
Should I water it now? It’s been over a month, but I’m worried about overwatering if there’s still a fungus issue.
How can I tell if it actually has a fungus or if the damage was just from the summer heat?
How do I know if the roots are healthy or rotting?
What kind of pot, lighting, and general care routine would you recommend for a beginner?
I’ve attached pictures of the orchid and its new growth. I’d really appreciate any advice on what I should do first, what supplies I need to buy, and how to get it healthy again. I’m a little lost on where to go from here, and I really don’t want to accidentally kill it!
Thank you! 🌱

I discovered the Gongora a couple of years back by means of an article that a friend wrote in the local orchid club newsletter. It is a genus, that for whatever reason, is unpopular in my area. Due to the respect that I have for this fellow grower I acquired a Gongora Grossa and to my delighted surprise this plant has turned out to be one of my favorites, and I have dozens and dozens of Cattleya, Catasetums, Dendrobium and multiple other Genus. The Gongora eclipses many of these other plants.
I have acquired 2 other Gongora. These orchids are not visually showy in the sense that other genus are, but they make up for it in many ways.
The Gongora flowers are short lived. The flowers occur along long pendulous raceme, often 10 or more flowers per raceme. The flowers on mine last 5 or 6 days at most, but during the season the plant produces raceme after raceme after raceme consistently over a period of months... hence the plant is always in bloom, often with 4 or 5 racemes occurring simultaneously with dozens of flowers.
The flowers are VERY VERY fragrant. I can smell them all over my yard. It is an incredible plant, being a hardy grower, easy to grow, thrives in shade, and very fragrant. It is a plant that everyone would delight in adding to the garden regardless if you are an orchid hobbyist or not.
Did I mention that they are VERY fragrant? <yum>
Attached is a photo of Gongora Galeata

So I have this phalaenopsis that is determined to grow, but looks terrible on the bottom! The stems are firm, I’ve lost two blooms over the last few days (presumably because it’s upset that I disturbed the mold-arama), the leaves are droopy but not mush, but the roots….yikes. Last night I lightly hand washed with just water the mold off of several roots, made sure no water got in between the leaves, and set it in its normal spot to let some airflow get to the roots, but I’m definitely worried about it 😅
I know I need orchid bark, 3% peroxide, and a pot with more ventilation, but before I buy all that or get scissor happy with some shears, can someone tell me if this is worth saving?

After having this orchid for 2.5 months, I noticed that she spawns a tiny green purple-ish leaf while her flowers are still blooming. I thought, from some info I read about phalaenopsis, phalaenopsis usually started growing leaves and roots after their flowers wilt. Maybe, mine is either confused or just wanting to grow anything whenever she likes 😆

Decided to commemorate our wedding yesterday with an orchid (because 8 wasn't enough lol) and found this beautiful butter yellow and pink one that we both liked - only realized when we got back that it's scented! It smells almost soapy but in a good way 😇🩷
