The Rules Of Lesbian Actually

Today, the mods voted on a rule change to the sub. Rule 3 has been expanded to include any post or comment not just directed at one person but, in general, the singling out of a member of our community. This now means that content in the nature of "Would you date ____", "Am I ___ if I don't like ____", "I don't find ____ attractive",etc. are not allowed. The bottom line is that there is someone out there for everyone, and often, these posts are used by terfs and other assholes to make people feel excluded or unwanted.

The rules now are as follows:

Rule 1 - Any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.

Rule 2 - Trans women are women

Rule 3 - The singling out of an individual or a group from the community is not allowed

Rule 4 - No posts or comments attempting to restrict others' definitions of self.

Relationships / Dating How do you tell your girlfriend she has bad breath without hurting her feelings?

So yesterday I was at my girlfriend’s place and we were making out a lot, but I noticed she had pretty bad breath. I know everyone has bad breath sometimes, and I’m not trying to judge her for it, but I could really smell it while we were kissing, and I could even taste it when our tongues touched.

The thing is, I always make sure to brush my teeth or have a piece of gum before seeing her. I also wear deodorant and perfume because I want to smell good around her, so I guess I was a little surprised by the situation.

I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to embarrass her or hurt her feelings. Instead, I somehow managed to avoid kissing for about 20 minutes. Honestly, the smell was strong enough that I felt a little nauseous, and I feel bad even admitting that because I love her and don’t want to make her feel self-conscious.

I’m really hoping it was just a one-time thing so I won’t have to bring it up, because I genuinely wouldn’t know how to approach that conversation without making things awkward. I’ve also started wondering whether she’s ever noticed something like that about me and just hasn’t said anything.

Has this ever happened to any of you with your girlfriend? How did you handle it? Did you tell her directly, or did you find a gentler way to bring it up? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences because I don’t want to hurt her feelings, but I also don’t want to feel uncomfortable during something as intimate as kissing.

Relationships / Dating I can make them a sword but I'm too nervous to ask them on a date.

I'm wondering what level of useless I am. We talked about swords briefly and so I made them one. No big deal. Its only 10 inches long and I used a low temperature metal. But I can't ask them on a date of course, because that's scary! 😭

Questions / Advice Wanted I’m 25 and I feel like I’ve forgotten how to socialize. Has anyone else experienced this?

This might be a little random, but I feel like I can’t socialize the way I used to anymore, either online or IRL.

I’m 25, and I’m struggling to make new friends, even online, where I can remain anonymous. It’s like something inside me constantly pushes me back into my own little bubble and keeps me from connecting with people.

I’ve been in college for seven years now, although I had to take three years off because of health issues. I re-enrolled last year, so I’ve been attending classes again for about a year, but I haven’t even had a proper conversation with a single person in my class. It was the same way before I took time off, too. I just can’t seem to connect with people my own age or meet new people in environments where everyone is around my age.

The same thing happens online. I can barely hold a conversation anymore, and it genuinely feels like my brain has stopped working when it comes to socializing. I mostly just keep to myself. Sometimes I really wish I had a group of friends to hang out with, even if it was just online, but for some reason, I keep shutting myself off from that possibility.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? What do you think might be causing this, and how can I work on getting out of this mindset? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences or any advice you might have.

Relationships / Dating Racism in the community

all shade, what’s with a lot of people in the lesbian community calling white mascs studs? also, the racism too by generalizing black lesbians as studs automatically or just denying black lesbians because of race? i don’t see people talk about this a lot and i've noticed it happening for years. i personally remember being rejected whenever i had my natural hair out vs when i had my braids or straightened hair. i know this doesn’t apply to all lesbians, but have any of the poc lesbians had this experience, or is anyone in general peeping the racism in the lesbian community, or is it just me?? lmk!!!

Relationships / Dating How often do longterm lesbian couples have sex? Is this normal? NSFW

I’ve been with my partner for almost 4yrs. I’m 23 and she’s 32. We never really had sex super often, even when we started dating, but there was at least a level of intimate banter and teasing that I really miss. We’ve had conversations about our differing libidos multiple times during our relationship, and we’re in counseling, but this is something we haven’t felt comfortable enough to discuss in session. I’m very hypersexual so my drive is very high while hers is much lower. I would sayĀ we average about 10 times a year, maybe more. It’s normal for us to go well over a month or two without being sexually intimate. This is something that I have a really hard time with. Just some basic context on me, Iā€˜m a very large woman and have very low self esteem because of it. I also have trauma from past relationships revolving around intimacy, so I need a certain level of physical reassurance from my partner to keep in mind they are still attracted to me. Not healthy, I know, but we’re working on it. I’ve had numerous discussions about this with her and things go well for a while but then things start to dwindle again.

I really want to feel desired. I miss how I felt at the beginning of our relationship. She would compliment me, she’d make sexual comments here and there about things she liked about my body, and it made me feel really nice and attractive. I’ve gained weight since then and I always wonder if that’s why things sort of dwindled. She says she’s still attracted to me and loves my body but it’s going to be 4 years and we’ve had the same problem for about 3 of those years. Does anyone else struggle with their longterm partner like this..?? Or does anyone else feel similarly..?? I also want to quickly say, we've discussed a frequency of once a week and it’s never lasted more than 2 weeks.. So we’ve tried to set times and stuff, it just has yet to work

Life I look like I'd be rude

• Upvotes

Because of this, I am forced to initiate literally everything. If I don't go out of my way to start the conversation, I have zero social life. I’m 70% introverted, so forcing myself to go first every single time is completely unnatural and draining. It doesn’t get better once people know me, either.

When my uni friend group plans a night out, everyone hypes each other up, but when it comes to me, they just stare awkwardly. They can’t even choke out a basicĀ will you come too? Like c'mon, we are grown-ass uni students.I won’t bite. Even compliments are painful; we went to a fancy bar recently, and people looked visibly uncomfortable just muttering,Ā uh the shade of the black looks good on you.

I’ve never had that normal "girls-girl" experience because I look "too serious." If I smile and compliment a girlfriend, they assume I'm flirting. Two women in my circle even confronted me for "playing them both" during a flirt phase I had no clue existed.

When I ask what is so weird about me, nobody gives a solid answer. Look, I don't give free hugs, but I'm not a monster either. I wondered if it was code for ugly, but between FWBs, one-night stands, and relationships, I know I'm objectively not bad-looking.

Honestly, the only time this lessens is when I’m away from uni people. If I go to a bar by myself, that’s where the majority of my love life happens because people have a drink in them and are way more upfront.

I’m just so irritated and done with carrying 100% of the social weight

Relationships / Dating I'm [24F] unsure how to address jealousy I've developed of my girlfriends [25F] friend

• Upvotes

Me and my girlfriend (both 25f) have been together for nearly 2 years. We’ve had several conversations about sharing the goal of wanting to make more likeminded friends in our mid 20’s. This is something I want to explore and I want to give her the freedom to explore as well.Ā

A couple of months ago she mentioned she was hanging with a grad school friend. When I asked who she said a girl in her class she got along with so she DMed her to hangout. My girlfriend carries a polaroid camera around with her and they took pics of each other that the classmate posted on instagram and my girlfriend reposted. I’m not going to say it didn’t irk me especially because she’s not a big poster, but I was happy she’d found a friend in her profession after expressing difficulty doing so and never mentioned it. They’ve hung out a few times since and my girlfriend informed me while we were making Halloween weekend plans that the classmate asked if she and a friend of hers could do something with my girlfriend on Saturday. She also told me the classmate will be sleeping over at hers that night.

After the sleepover was mentioned I was inexplicably bothered and I could see myself getting snappy in my messages to her. I have zero reason to be jealous-she hasn’t hit anything from me and I’m included in both the Saturday night outing and the sleepover if I want to attend. Yet I’m still so bothered and I hate that my insecurities end up making me feel irritated and change the way I speak to her. I know the simple answer is to communicate but I’m worried if I express this I will make her feel like I’m controlling and limiting her ability to make new friends. How do I deal with this or address the situation?Ā

Questions / Advice Wanted My girlfriend enjoys giving but not receiving physical affection. How can I be a supportive partner? NSFW

Hello guys !

I would love to have your feedback or your thoughts to help me.

I am with my girlfriend since some months now and we already did some sexual stuff. She already told me that sex and being touched below the belt is complicated and need time and never got orgasm with ex-partners. She said that it happens for her sometimes alone but not a high feeling. So everytime i want to take off one of her clothes, i always ask and i told her that I would never ask for the clothes below the belt (pant ect...) because it depends on her. (Never saw her naked)

She loves really touching me and giving me pleasure. But a discussion came and she litterally told me that she's clearly feeling nothing while i am touching her (caress, licking her body), she just wait that it's over. She told me that sex for her is not needed but her pleasure is in her mind and clearly enjoy giving me pleasure (and she even start most of the time this) but her being touched she don't need. She told me that it never came into her mind to ask me to touch her in a specific area. The thing is due to her past relationship, she learned to react and so she's reacting as if she loves it and enjoying but it's not the case. She said sometimes the feeling is okay but nothing more.

I feel a bit dumb to having doing that and maybe asking her more but when i asked her if she liked she said yes... She said to me that it was okay but i didn't realized she was waiting when i was doing something for her. But now i really want to change this, i want to know how i can do stuff to make her confortable, not giving her pleasure but that she don't have to wait like this. I asked her to tell me when it's the case but she don't want. So i am actually a bit lost because i want to behavior for her the best way possible. She deserves everything. But i don't want to change everything making her thinking that i don't like her anymore or something.
I feel so dumb...

Questions / Advice Wanted I like a girl for the first time in years and I’m not quite sure what to do

• Upvotes

Hey all! I have recently found myself with a crush on my friend's friend. I'll call the friend Allie, and the girl I like Mel. Me, Allie, and Mel all went to a comic con about a month ago, I'd hung out with Mel twice before that (both times at the movies with ithers present.) That's when I first realized my crush on Mel, I walked around with her alone after Allie left, we played games, I carried around her stuff, and won her a plushie, it was really nice. There was an awkward moment where when we were leaving, she said, "It was nice meeting you." yeowch lol, but I just took it as a slip of the tongue as after she apologized profusely. I sewed her a coin pouch, made her a bracelet, and bought some snacks she liked for her birthday, however the only thing she thanked me for in her text was the snacks, not sure if that matters much but I'll put as many details of our interactions as possible. After the con I ended up telling Allie how I felt about Mel, she immediately got excited, saying "I knew it! I knew it!" then joked about how she "ships all of her friends" lol. After that, me and Allie went around my neighborhood going to abandoned or under-construction houses. However, the entire time, Allie took photos of me, I just took it as me getting in her shots, but after that I peeked over her shoulder in the car and she was texting Mel! I immediately asked if she'd told on me and she answered with a bit of awkwardness. Turns out she was sending them to Mel, but honestly, I really overthought that part. I try to text Mel every day, but she's a busy person and tends to take a long time to reply, and doesn't always reply to every message, but when I asked Allie, she said Mel usually texted like that, so it wasn't personal. I asked Mel about her hoco, and she told me about how she went with her friends, sent me pictures, and I joked saying that it looked super fun and that she'd have to stow me away and take me next time, Mel replied in all caps saying shed take me to her next school event. Those are usually dances right?? so I kind of got excited, I'll be honest. Also, when we were recently at my house all three of us and another friend, one of them asked her to send the photos from the day to our group chat, when she did though, I was surprised to see that half of the photos sent were of me not looking at the camera (I didn't even know she took half of them...) The point of the story is that man, I really like this girl. But I honestly feel like I don't have much of a chance, she's just so awesome. I mean, we like a lot of the same song artists, (which for me is rare as I have a bit of an acquired taste in music that isn't much for everyone.) we both like some of the same shows, the same game genres, stuff like that! (She even said the other day that she was watching one of my favorite shows and said she thought I would love it. she didn't know I watched it previously!) not sure if it matters but I've been trying to play her favorite game series so we can talk about it, I'd been meaning to for a while, and she inspired me too finally do it. However, the other day, she bought one of my all-time favorite games, she said she'd also meant to play it for a while. Okay Okay I'll end this here. my main point of this was to hopefully get advice of how I should go about this crush, should I wait or act on it? Allie said she'd ask if she liked anyone but man I'm so nervous, I wish I knew how she saw me, all I know is that she told Allie that I was cool a while back.

Also tonight I took a leap to compliment a post she made of herself, she did some super cool makeup. I told her it was insane and that she looked so pretty but I got a "THANK YOUUUUU" in response, that's all. I'm not sure if that was a good move or if I fucked up Y'ALL IM SO SCARED AHHHH!! ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS GREATLY APPRICIATED!

Questions / Advice Wanted Harness slipping off?

• Upvotes

Hi all! Girlfriend and I are pretty inexperienced with sex in general. We got a strap on kit about a year ago and the harness straps are always coming undone. I’m guessing it’s just because it’s a cheap harness, we didn’t know if we’d be into it or not.

I’ll link the product we bought, so is it just the quality of the harness and adjustable clips? Is there a different style that would work better? Any harness suggestions or advice is welcome.

Questions / Advice Wanted lesbian sexual preferences NSFW

I fully embraced my lesbian identity a little over 2 years ago and have definitely been enjoying hooking up with women in that time. I’ve found that I enjoy penetration and much prefer it over oral, scissoring, or other types of activities. I’ve started to feel weird about this as it seems so many gay women are very into scissoring and being eaten out, I feel a bit out of place. I also love being penetrated with the strap, but have seen some women describe that as too straight so they don’t like it. Now i’m getting insecure that I enjoy ā€œstraightā€ activities in the bedroom. Anyone else feel this way?

Relationships / Dating Can't stop thinking of ex

I broke down crying over my ex. We'd broken up in Jan. Gone no contact until I got a message from her friend, asking me if I would be willing to unblock my ex, because they were feeling guilty. I was excited thinking there was gonna be a another chance of being together. We called (big mistake), and it went well. Long story short, they didn't want any strings attached, blocked again. A month goes by, I get four miss calls from a familiar blocked number. Once again super excited. I did the stupiest thing. I messaged them, and get multiple distress texts from them, to fucking save them from something, because they did something stupid they say in verbatim, but they wouldn't tell me what. Told them we can talk the next day so things are hopefully calm (they were safe). I find out the "stupid" thing they did. They slept with a guy. A much older guy. Just looking back at it I feel used in a way?? I don't know, for them to reclaim their lesbianism back?? They identified as a lesbian. During the time of our break up, they made out with a male friend, who had a girlfriend which she didn't know. Lol (in the sadiest way possible) she'd express her attraction to them to me, saying he's hot when we were together. I don't get it, maybe its desensitise for me to say, "why don't they just call themselves bisexual??" They mentioned they had an impulsive feeling to text older guys, im just wondering if they did that when we were together, or felt like doing it? Is she a male centered lesbian?? I know its dramatic and mostly not true, but I feel like won't ever be enough for someone, because I'll never be a man. Im young (19), this was my first relationship, more to hopefully come, but geez why did I date her. How do I stop comparing myself to men?? Or Stop caring that my ex is attracted/ slept with men? If thats possible
