Discussion If that had happened, the Gamecube would have skyrocketed and at least surpassed the Xbox
These titles are almost icons of the sixth generation of consoles, I thought for a long time that Nintendo didn't want these titles because they were too adult and violent, but my thesis was shattered when I saw Manhunt 2 on Wii, which contradicts this because it is more violent than the 3 games in the GTA trilogy
Nintendo really lost, it's like every mom let her kids go on a school trip and only one left her son out of that fun...

Help GameCube Makes a very loud click noise during gameplay
Hello,
I started playing my GameCube recently and the disc lens has been making this loud click noise about once an hour.
I did get my XD Gale of Darkness Resurfaced yesterday and it still makes this loud click during gameplay. Sometimes the game does pause when it clicks but it does resume shortly after.
Has anyone else had this issue?

Help I've never seen this on a disc. It looks like damage at first to the inside ring but it's too perfectly cut out. Is it something to worry about?

Help Wavebird battery contacts still not clean enough yet, any suggestions?
I recently desoldered the battery contacts off a wavebird needing internal cleaning. I used a vinegar amd baking soda solution to let it sit in for the night. One contact came out looking much better, as pictured. The other now has light brown splotches and some green on it still.
I went through the second contact with a toothbrush and let it sit for a little longer in the solution, but I have see no signs of further improvement. Any other steps I could take to get it cleaner, or just more solution + time?

Help NSO wireless N64 controller on GameCube?
I've seen a couple of threads on here of people successfully using the NSO wireless GameCube controller with a blueretro/8bitdo GameCube wireless adapter. Would it also be possible to play on an actual GameCube in the same way but with the NSO wireless N64 controller instead?

Help Looking to play my gamecube games again
Hi community,
I live in India and am in SF and LA for a week. I have an old gamecube which died on me a few years back. I probably was one of the very few kids who grew up with one and its practically impossible to find another one there! I did a bit of my research and saw a refurbished one at gamestop, and the other option is probably to buy an old wii(001) and play my games on that and that will save me money. One of my concerns is taking it back to India and it doesnt work. What would be my best bet here?

Modding Quick shell swap surgery
This was my first teardown of a GC. Bought two shells with the intent to eventually sell the orange one. I wanted a smoke shell for my original console but with a solid black faceplate. This one had a tiny bit of either dried Pepsi or Coke on parts of it. I'll probably mod these further. 10/10 experience, well-designed console. I now have a greater appreciation for this box.

Collection Zelda Promo Disc! Finally!!
I'm literally so excited. I assume most know, but you could originally only get this game in a GameCube console bundle* at the time. One of my biggest regrets has been that as a child I traded my copy, along with several other notible items, in to Gamestop. I have been trying to get my hands on one as an adult ever since I realized my foolish blunder. But I wanted to do it somewhat naturally, rather than just online. I finally scored one, and a real clean CIB copy at that. It's probably been at least 16 or 17+ years since I've held one.
I used to see how far I could get in to the demo before the time ran out. As a kid, I was convinced the whole game was in there, if only I could speed run it in the time given. Or at least, I wanted to push to see how far into the game I could actually get.
I'm so stoked.
Edit - *or as a subscription bonus for a year of Nintendo Power, as well as some other special instances

Modding USB Dolphin SP1 and USB hubs
For those of you with the "USB Dolphin SP1" from Maks Tech, is it compatible with a USB hub so that you can use a USB-to-ethernet adapter at the same time as an external SSD? Or is it only capable of using one thing at a time?

Help Do we have an in-depth explanation to why this error message appears?
There are quite a few posts about people getting an interesting error message on their GameCube: "An error has occurred. Turn the power OFF and check the NINTENDO GAMECUBE Instruction Booklet for further instructions". The instruction booklet says there may be an internal problem with the system if you get this error.
This "error has occurred" message is most likely to appear if the console struggles to read the disc. But wait- you would think it would tell you the game disc could not be read. That's what it would say if the disc itself was the problem. You get a message that says an error has occurred if the GameCube believes there is a problem with the disc drive.
Here are a couple examples of GameCubes giving error messages:
A GameCube is playing the first mission in Star Wars: Rebel Strike. There is a chance of the disc drive "reinitiating" during the cutscene that plays before the player can take control. You can hear the whirring sound of the motor stop as the disc drive tries to read the disc. The whirring sound continues and everything seems right until a minute later. The motor can be heard stopping and starting in the same way as if it tried to initiate a disc. You can hear occasional clicking noises from the laser hitting the end of its track. Finally, the cube gives up and throws a message that says an error has occurred. The error can be prevented by opening the disc drive while it is struggling. The capacitors have not been replaced.
Another GameCube is playing The Simpsons: Hit & Run. A sudden click is heard from the disc drive as the error message appears on-screen. None of the struggles from the previous examples are present; it's just a click and error message without warning. This is a whole different GameCube from the previous example. It's unknown if this GameCube has had any work done on it.
There are a few things that could be causing this error message from the disc drive:
-Laser not getting enough power (lens is dirty or burnt out, bad caps, etc.)
-Laser track is gummed up and can't fetch data fast enough for some games
-Spindle is worn out and can't spin fast enough for some games
-Maybe it could just be the disc itself
These two GameCubes are experiencing two different behaviors before they throw errors. Are they suffering from different problems? It seems like bad caps are the most common. Can you tell me what could be going on based on the descriptions on what happened?

Help My old GC wireless controller has batteries in it that leaked... Does this look salvageable and if so does anyone have any tips/videos for cleaning?
I did google search tips on cleaning battery corrosion, and watched a few videos.. but they were for tv remotes and also I guess there's different stages of corrosion. This controller is over 20 years old so I do not want to damage it. Any tips/recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Help Hoping to diagnose a GameCube that isn't reading discs
I'm trying to diagnose a GameCube's failure to read discs. I've already narrowed out that it's not the disc itself, all the discs are fine.
The GameCube will either:
- make a motor noise when shutting the lid and then stop and just say there's no disc. it sometimes doesn't spin during this, and sometimes spins a little bit.
- try for longer, making multiple motor noises and also spinning the disc, then result in an error that requires me to power down the console.
Whichever of these two things it does in any given attempt is seemingly random but it most often picks the "no disc" one.
I attempted to clean the laser using a q-tip with isopropyl alcohol but that didn't change anything.

TIA

Help Mario Strikers disc question
I found Mario Strikers at my local Value Village. The disc was not in the best condition. There are scratches but from what I can tell, a lot are just surface. I canāt feel any running my finger nail gently on the disc. I did notice the paint on top has some bubbling. Not peeled. Just bubbled. I can play through the Mushroom Cup or tournament but after the game tries to move onto the next cup tourney, the disc canāt be read. Would the paint lifting on the top be causing the issue??

Discussion Never realized Rogue Squadron III contains all three 1980s Atari Star Wars arcade games on the disc
I tried to post this last night but did a terrible job capturing it. I was in a game store yesterday and spotted the physical demo disc for this game which mentions the inclusion of Star Wars Arcade. So I looked it up to see if the final copy has them as well. I have owned this game for years and had no clue there is an arcade hidden on the disc containing all three Atari arcade games!

Help Digital controller for Gamecube to use with GB player attachment
I want to start utilizing my GB player on my GC more, but the original dpad on the GC controller isnāt great to say the least. I have a GBA sp and link cable I can use, but I donāt find that comfortable for longer sessions.
Iāve seen knockoff digital controllers on Walmart/Target for like $20 that are exactly what Iām looking for, but they have no reviews š I havenāt found anything like what Iām looking for from other companies like Hori.
Was considering an SNES to GC adapter too, but same thing Iām not sure of quality and input lag.
Iāve wasted money on enough gaming junk at this point, so trying not to waste more on low quality crapā¦
Any thoughts? Thank you!!! :)
