A few Christmas' ago I was gifted this oversized d20 during my dnd group gift swap. The moment I held it I thought it felt like a shift nob. Fast forward a couple of years and I am restoring my 07 Subaru impreza I remembered the d20 and decided to turn it into a custom shift nob. I took the oversized d20 and drilled it out. Then I friction fit a threaded insert with a M10x 1.25 thread pitch. I used a second nut at the base that I can tighten against so the 20 faces the right direction. If the friction fit starts to fail I will probably try to epoxy it in place. I avoided it initially because I didn't want to risk getting epoxy on the threads. Would you guys drive with one? OK I think I have run out the word count to post. But just to be safe: I CAST POTATO!

Anaxandria Ir-Arma

Anaxandria has only come into power within the last few months. Outwardly, she does not seem to rule through quiet diplomacy; she rules through explicit force, intimidation, economic restructuring, and swift, public demonstration. Wealthy merchant estates and former royal holdings in the upper terraces have been seized, partially converted into barracks for the Serat forces, or repurposed as state storehouses to control food distribution.

Anaxandria is not someone who craves a crown out of vanity; she is a survivor of a brutal, systemic hell who views the entire world as a cage that must be broken. Her personality is forged from the cruelty of her early life as an enslaved chattel in Ilindama. Because her birth name was stripped from her and she had to kill to claim a new one, identity to her is something earned, not given. She views weakness and dependency as existential threats. She is fiercely, terrifyingly independent and expects the same relentless self-reliance from those around her. Her deep-seated hatred for aristocratic privilege stems from personal trauma. She knows what it feels like to be treated as property. Hence why she handed the Dirt District back to the poor and tore down the old Aruna Pradesh rule. She doesn't just want to conquer; she wants to humiliate and dismantle the machinery of inherited power.

Obituary..

Zan Zanzibar, high flame of the tempest, reveared son or Zar Zanzibar, died last Tuesday night defending his party while they made their escape. Took a non recoverable necrotic death ray to the face from a particularily nasty beholder while severly wounded, as his own fireball finished him off.

Zan is survived by Zel, Elain, Remmy and Fancyman3000.

May you find peace in the here after you glorious bastard.

After two years of playing this character every other weekend I just wanted to share.

Its funny I feel weird rolling up a new character, like I need a session or two to grieve. Have you felt this?

Art [Art][Comm] Ursine Artificer, by Vanharmontt

This is a piece I was commissioned to make recently.

"Bylo Stonefur is an ursine artillerist artificer. Coming from a long line of druids and barbarians, he was obsessed from childhood with fire, and his inquisitive mind drove him to investigate means of creating and manipulating it. A wondering tradesman and artificer once came through his home town and he was fascinated by his arts, quickly becoming his apprentice and going with him in his travels. After learning the basics of tinkering and magic, and seeing increasingly suspicious activity from his master, Bylo was surprised by him one day when he asked him to commit a horrible crime. He abandoned him, but his master swore to find him and kill him. He now is on the move to escape and become more powerful to one day confront him."

I'm currently open for commissions in case anyone is interested! you can see prices and info here:

Giveaway [OC] [GIVEAWAY] I Made a Folk-Horror One-Shot for 5E/5.5E - Win One of 5 Digital Copies for Halloween

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I really enjoyed running my Kobolds & Kobolds giveaway here, so with Halloween coming up, I wanted to come back with something a little darker!

I’m giving away 5 digital copies of my new adventure, The Red Tithe, through DriveThruRPG, with one copy each for 5 winners.

What is The Red Tithe?

The Red Tithe is a dark fantasy and folk-horror one-shot compatible with 5E (2014) and 5.5E (2024), designed for 3-6 characters and approximately 4-6 hours of play.

For generations, the isolated village of Hollowmere has maintained a terrible tradition: whenever nightmares and supernatural disturbances plague the settlement, one villager is sacrificed beneath Saint Harrow’s Church to keep an ancient horror imprisoned.

But this time, something has gone wrong.

A blood-covered survivor has fled the village, claiming that everyone is dead. The supply wagon has failed to arrive, and the adventurers are sent to investigate what happened.

The adventure combines investigation, exploration, roleplaying, moral dilemmas, and challenging combat. As the characters uncover the truth behind the village’s tradition, they’ll have to decide how far they’re willing to go to save those who remain.

One of the things I wanted to do was make the same story playable at three very different level ranges:

  • Tier I: Levels 3-4.
  • Tier II: Levels 10-11.
  • Tier III: Levels 17-20.

Each tier has adjusted encounters, DCs, and enemies, including a different manifestation of the adventure’s main antagonist. You can run it as a standalone horror session or work it into an existing campaign.

The manual also includes 6 custom monster statblocks, 3 battle maps with 8 total versions, and 4 tokens for tabletop or VTT play.

How to Enter

Just leave a comment on this post.

Any comment from an account that is at least 3 months old counts as an entry. One entry per account, and no purchase is necessary.

If you’d like something to talk about, I’d love to hear what makes a D&D horror adventure genuinely unsettling for you. But answering that is completely optional; any comment counts!

The giveaway closes on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 8:00 PM CEST / 7:00 PM BST / 2:00 PM EDT / 11:00 AM PDT / 6:00 PM UTC.

After it closes, I’ll use RedditRaffler to randomly select 5 winners and edit this post with the public results. I’ll contact each winner directly with a code to redeem their digital copy through DriveThruRPG.

All five prizes are digital, so there are no physical-shipping restrictions for this giveaway.

You can check out The Red Tithe on DriveThruRPG for more details. I’ve also shared preview pages, maps, and a monster statblock over at r/JonnyDM if you’d like a closer look.

Good luck, thank you for supporting my work, and I hope Hollowmere finds its way into a few of your Halloween sessions!

OC [ART] [comm] Yrindis.-

Post image
59 Upvotes

I developed the character based on the following brief, which was accompanied by a few visual references.

Yrindis, the black sheep of a fallen noble family.

Throughout her childhood, she was raised with a single purpose: to marry and save her family from losing their privileges. She was kept surrounded by a façade of extravagance and educated in what she considered the most tedious subjects: embroidery, manners, dancing, and etiquette.

As she grew older, she gradually began to reveal her rebellious spirit, sneaking away to visit nearby villages on her own and get to know the people who lived there. During one of these excursions, she came across an old mage who was helping the village women with matters related to their crops, and asked if she could take part.

The mage saw in her a spark and a thirst for knowledge she hadn't encountered in years. After completing a short ritual in which Yrindis proved useful, the mage offered to become her mentor. Yrindis accepted without a second thought. Her family never heard from her again, though they are still searching for her.

As she grew older, Yrindis realized she had become a strikingly beautiful young woman. She would use these attributes, along with her refined manners, to persuade the village's rulers and gradually secure better living conditions for the people around her.

Physical description

She has a piercing, intense, and seductive gaze that reflects her determination and fiery spirit. She has fair skin, long blonde hair adorned with a crown, and an elegant yet somewhat vulgar style of dress. Her outfit features a sweetheart neckline, silk sleeves, and gold details that subtly remind us that, despite having left her family behind, she is still a noblewoman.

OC [OC][Art] Vaelar - Elf Ranger

Post image
107 Upvotes

A Wood Elf Ranger I'm playing in a one-shot later today. The character's design is heavily inspired by Ryoko Kui's artwork in Dungeon Meshi, so I also took inspiration from the series when developing his backstory and role in the world.

Like the "Canaries" in the series, he works as a dungeon explorer and monster hunter, venturing into dangerous underground environments to investigate their depths and deal with the creatures lurking within. I wanted to capture the simple and clean adventuring gear the author does, while keeping the fantasy aesthetic.

Really looking forward to bringing him to life in the table later today!

"The clanking of his armor resonated differently. They knew what was about to happen. Blood had already been spilled on the ground, yet not a single sword had been drawn. The armor itself bit into his flesh: that vessel of pain took the first step, and so it began".

Hi all! Wanted to share this big bad guy I illustrated for an awesome project I'm working on, hope you will like it!

The project is still a work in progress and there are things to work on, but illustrations are coming out in a really awesome way and I'm so proud of all them. They're grim, dark and heavy: like metal.

I am currently also open for commission, feel free to DM or email me for badass dark art, you'll find even more cool stuff on my ig: simone_tammetta_art !

Art [OC] Dragonborn/Bard character

Post image
38 Upvotes

Hi! My names Lyd, I’ve been playing DnD for about a year now but only recently joined the Reddit!

This is my character design for my Dragonborn Bard. The drawing is quite old now so I’d love to redesign it as I can see a lot of things that I could improve 🌷⭐️

Edit :

I have already uploaded this, however it got removed as I didn’t hit the 400 word minimum! So I’ll give some detail ☀️

My character is called Lethira, she’s a Dragonborn bard who plays the violin! Shes pink because I wanted her to be, though she does have the green traits of poison damage.

Shes a kind hearted soul who is just a cowardly creature really.

Anyway, I’d love some feedback if you have any and hopefully my post doesn’t get taken down this time 🌷

Edit AGAIN :

I forgot to attach the image 😁😁

Art Elf Fighter character [Art] I drew for a player

Post image
799 Upvotes

I received a request from a player recently to draw their character, Lorna, an elf of the fighter class. Below is a brief description of the character they provided, along with some notes regarding her appearance.

Backstory:
Lorna was born into a world of turmoil, her home and community ransacked as a small child, burned and destroyed, and her parents lost in the process. Wandering far from her once home, and barely surviving off the land, she was discovered by a tribe of orcs who took her in and taught her their ways.

Lorna adopted many orc customs, and although elvish by blood, is more orc at heart. She uses a blunt and brutal fighting style, and isn’t interested in etiquette or grace. She gets to the point, blows like cannonballs and bombs being released onto her adversaries.

Brief description of appearance:
I imagine her being medium brown in complexion, but with light blonde hair, coiled and abundant in the back, but tight and braided in the front. She is missing her right eye, and has a vertical scar over it, starting at the forehead and going down to her cheek.

She wears armor, but I’d prefer it to look more Greek or Roman in appearance, and with a bit of skin showing as you would see in pop culture depictions of Spartans or gladiators. Sandals are preferred over shoes or boots, and she should carry a large round mace and shield. Maybe a knife or short sword by her side, but it’s not necessary if too much trouble. A gown or cape would be nice too, but as far as color or pattern, whatever you think will work best.

5th Edition Seeking advice. DM just noped some of my character features. Barb-Druid

I've been at this monthly table for almost 2 years. People have come and gone but myself and one other character have been at the table the whole time. 3-4 sessions ago, in response to departures, with DMs blessing swapped out my original character for another, a caster druid for a barb-druid. I had been talking about making this switch and when we ended session with caster a POW, I asked if I could just start the new character.

Caster druid mostly did support either changing combat landscape or calling a play that made battles much easier.

Barb-druid is primed for combat with two really good pairings. Polearm master and sentinel. Rage and wild shape. After the first session where I was taking 4 glaive attacks a turn (2x for barb level 5, d4 from pole arm master, and reaction since we were bunched up with the enemy), DM said my character had a target on its back. I said as I've often said "scale up the enemies to match us." We had a tiff where one of the enemies had an effect that I would attack them at disadvantage. I asked if I could use reckless attack to negate the disadvantage. "No, because they are the one that put the effect on you"

Second session with new character I raged and wild shaped. As a totem warrior on the bear path, we talked about how with immunity to everything but psychic, I basically have double the HP.

Third Session was yesterday

On a particular turn, I was raging, killed the last enemy in range, and spotted another enemy 60 ft away, I bonus actioned to wild shape into a panther and run to close the gap. DM says that I can't rage and wild shape at the same time and that if I wildshape, the rage falls off. Rule 0. Fine. So I've closed on the enemy in panther form but my turn is over with getting to attack.

Enemy's turn, DM says they disengage and flee. "Hold on DM. sentinel. I still get my opportunity attack". grumpy noises from DM. It connects but enemy is still upright. DM starts to move the mini. "Hold on DM. I hit with an opportunity attack, their movement speed drops to zero for the rest of the turn." Ranged party member takes their turn and kills enemy with crossbow. Enemy has on-death AoE effect and reduces me to zero health even with making my save. Totally fair the other enemies had it too so no surprises there. And no big deal. Other party member aids me and I use my druid slots to heal myself up a bit.

At a second encounter, we're ambushed while I'm in human form (yes human, I'm not even taking some weird race to get crazy benefits, I just took a feat at level 1 in exchange for darkvision and trance) and flying enemies come by. I'm in front because where else do you put a barbarian, flyer whips past me. "Hold on DM. Polearm master, I get attack of opportunity when they come *into* my reach" The response "Nope, they are small and moving fast. You can't use your feat on them"

Is this a problem of my character being broken? Is my playstyle a problem? Am I reading the rules wrong? or is my DM just ignoring rules?

I understand Rule 0. but before I exercise my right to simply leave the table, I want to attempt a proper conversation about expectations and I'd like advice on how to start that convo. We have discord between sessions

DMing Everyone says they want to role-play

I've been doing this a very long time and I'm pretty good at it. I have a full roster of games and my selling point is always the character/NPC interactions and storytelling, even with crunchier systems like DnD/Pathfinder 2e. And almost universally, everyone who asks about games wants a long-form campaign, with a deep story, great NPCs, world-building, and role-play.

So, I crack my knuckles and get to it. I love writing characters, I love developing the setting. I don't play very often because - while I'd never tell a GM this - if the characters aren't at least a little bit interesting, or we're just hack-n-slashing through a dungeon, it's not really my thing. No hate to those who love that, just not my niche, and not why my players come to me.

But...sometimes those same people who CLAIM to want those things out of a campaign are the most difficult to get involved in any way. They'll just sit there silently unless they need to roll dice. I try to dangle bits of their unresolved backstories in front of them, they ignore it. I'll even have an NPC engaged in conversation with somebody else turn to them either asking for a second opinion or asking for support, ANYTHING really. And I get one-word responses.

All the above is fact, so now I'll venture into the realm of guesswork. I think that Critical Role et al has given people unrealistic expectations of a game. This isn't a complaint about that style of play, quite the opposite, given the right group it's wonderful, and I have a few of those groups. They're always engaged in the story, and their characters have little quips, conversations flow between them and the NPCs.

But I think a lot of players see Matt Mercer/Brennan doing their thing and think: "Wow, I'd love to be in their game!" But don't realize that all the players at those tables are literally professionals. The players at such a table have to give almost as much as the GM in terms of participation. That's what makes it great. If all the players just sat around the table and answered when directly spoken to, nobody would watch that.

It's just one of the revelations I've had over the years, and it kind of sucks. Because if I take the time to craft something interesting and nobody responds to it...did I just waste my time? It actively discourages me from trying, because what's the point? They won't talk to any of my NPCs anyway.

I'm sort of making it out to be a bigger problem than it is, I suppose, as I've had tremendous luck at my tables with having a really good crop of players. But I just wrapped up a game with a group I've been playing with for years now, and every session it's hit or miss with whether they'll interact with my world beyond rolling the dice, and it's discouraging. I feel like a monkey doing a song and dance, but nobody is watching.

Just curious if other GMs feel that their players know what they want when they ask for a particular kind of campaign, or you find they have an unrealistic idea of how such campaigns actually work? Maybe that makes sense...

My son and I decided we needed a ship for our DnD campaign since we just stole one in game from some pirates. Done printing and finally starting to glue things together. After it’s glued I’m going to experiment with plastic welding on some scrap parts to see if it works on wood fill PLA and then find out if I can hide it with a 3d pen. Then glueing each layer to a thin piece of plexiglass to make sure it doesn’t come apart.

OC [ART] [comm] Rudiger.

Post image
298 Upvotes

This is a commission I did a while back. I had to work on its full design, even though the client only had a single reference image showing just the face and a little bit of the chest armor. I did my best working on the rest of this cool character's armor.
He is a black knight elf named "Rudiger," and unfortunately! I don’t know anything about his backstory. The client trusted me to design his original character after he saw my OC, "The Black Knight of NARAKA," and wanted something similar. I did my best creating it and even suggested extra design details free of charge of course which the client enthusiastically agreed to. I really hope to work on more characters like this one in the future!

OC [OC] I created an aesthetic transport box for miniatures

Post image
16 Upvotes

Recently, I needed a transport box sturdy enough to carry a figurine, with a simple mechanism that locks it in place, so the smallest part of a print doesn't break. I couldn't find a box that was both secure and aesthetic, so I made one.

I came up with a design inspired by the medieval era. It's a tower with a portcullis that locks into place with a mechanism. The clip holding the miniature was the hardest part to design. It needed to hold the miniature in place without removing the paint. The clip is removable. It can be swapped with another clip with a different gripping force.

Art [OC] [COMM] Custom DND Character Sheet Commission, "Gozashtan", a warforged rogue, made for a client!

Post image

Hello everyone! I wanted to share this lovely custom character sheet I've made for another client!

Gozashtan (Or Art) is a Warforged Rogue. At first sight, intimidating, cold and reserved, but when you get to know him, he's kind, understanding AND a lover for all types of arts! (Thus, the nickname). I've loved working on him and designing him, especially because it was my first time drawing a Warforged character, and it couldn't have been better.

Thank you for taking your time to check on my art! ⚙️

5.5 Edition Having more fun dealing 1 dmg than I ever did with min/maxing

1.0k Upvotes

I made a bard with the intent of going College of Dance at lvl 3. However, to me, just waking up one day and doing a 180 flip from fighting with ranged weapons and slinging spells to martial arts just didn't make sense. So I decided to RP the transition from the start.

We have a monk in the party so I started off trying to 'imitate' the monk. The first time I got to wade into the thick of it, pull back and let loose the biggest haymaker ever and connect... for 1 whole damage. After I talk to the monk about what I'm doing wrong. We do training in the mornings after a long rest. Obviously I'm not trying to be a monk, so I take what I learn and apply it to my own abilities. I still wade into each fight, laying out 1 damage at a time (while slinging inspiration and the occasional support spell).

That's what I can't wait for; when all of this training and application finally pays off at lvl 3 and I get to land that first real damage punch. So instead of some magic "DING, congrats! You can now somehow punch 600% better than you could an hour ago!" it'll be "Holy crap! The bard finally learned how to punch! The fluid dancing moves is all him, but that left hook, that's [the monk's]".

I've usually been pretty big into optimization. It's what I found fun, but you gotta change it up now and then, and I have not regretted it.

OC [OC] a 3D Printed character tracker (credit goes to about30cows on makerworld)

I printed this using PLA on a Bambu Lab P1S

unfortunately I don’t have the AMS unit to do multi-colored prints but its okay I can color it in

I am using orange for the ornamental patterns, the white box is going to make the orange stand out more

printing took like 14 and a half hours and it took me no more than 45 minutes to assemble the parts.

if you own a 3D printer and want to graduate from paper sheets or to impress your friends at the table I think this would be a great project for you.

(this is the smaller slim version it fits nicely in a .50 cal ammo can I got from a harbor freight that I use for my D&D stuff)

OC Wild Hearth Kickstarter ends with $4.9M raised

$4.9M puts Wild Hearth as the second-most funded D&D tabletop project on Kickstarter to date, second only the the behemoth of Neon Odyssey.

The campaign pulled in over $250k in the last 3 hours to blow past the final stretch goal. I've been going over the free playtest stuff all month & holy wow, kids. The Hat pulled out all the stops on this one.

Congratulations to Antonio Demico & Pointy Hat Studios on this history-making (very first) Kickstarter!

DMing Hidden Passages

Wondering what is the best way to elude to secret passages/hidden doors within a dungeon without making it too obvious by saying something like "there's no moss on one portion of the wall" or without having them search the entire room because you gave no clues at all? Do you try and balance the fact that there may be traps and still make it obvious so they have to risk it being a trap or treasure?
