COLUMBUS, Ohio —The Columbus Regional Airport Authority, Lufthansa Airlines, JobsOhio and One Columbus today announced that Central Ohio’s first nonstop flight to Europe will launch in May 2027, connecting John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) with Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany. The new service marks a major milestone for the Columbus Region and Ohio, providing direct access to one of the world’s leading international hubs and creating new opportunities for businesses, travelers and visitors throughout the state.

“Today’s announcement is a tremendous milestone for the Columbus Region and Ohio,” said Daren Griffin, CRAA President and CEO. “Lufthansa’s new nonstop service to Frankfurt provides our passengers with a direct link to one of the world’s strongest global networks, enhancing connectivity, competitiveness and continued growth. We are grateful to Lufthansa, JobsOhio, One Columbus, our business community and so many others whose partnership helped make this opportunity possible. Couple inches to the right and he would be dead or wish he was. Absolutely idiotic behavior putting my mental health in danger to ride his little bike fast. People that feel the need to ride like this on public roads should have their motorcycle licenses taken forever.

FOOD OSU's Meat Shoppe website has been overhauled and a new form-based ordering system has been introduced. They also have a fall special; premium rib chops and bone-in pork butts for $1.99/lb until Oct 30th 2026

Link: https://ansci.osu.edu/meat-shoppe

OSU's Meat Shoppe website was relaunched this month and it appears they now allow you to submit an order via Microsoft Forms (previously it was by phone or email only).

Along with this relaunch they also have a fall special promotion on some pork products:

For a limited time, extra-thick premium rib chops, 1.5", 2 per package, are $1.99/lb and bone-in pork butts, avg weight 8-10 lbs., are $1.99/lb. This special pricing lasts through October 30, 2026.

Info from their FAQ if you have any logistical questions:

How do I order?

There are three ways to order: Use the form above, or call 614-292-2201 or email FAES-meatshoppe@osu.edu.

When and where do I pick up my order?

Order pickup is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays in the Animal Science building, 2029 Fyffe Road, on the first floor.

When is the order deadline?

Order by Wednesday at 5 p.m.

How do I pay for my order?

Pay for your order with a credit card at pickup on Friday.

Definitely worth supporting them, good quality meat and the money supports students in the CFAES

PHOTO Curbside early voting

Just a reminder that curbside early voting is available at the Franklin County Board of Elections for anyone with disabilities that would make it difficult to walk in and stand in line. They send out a bipartisan team of poll workers to assist voters. Just call the number when you arrive. They have 10 parking slots available and the area is marked with a large sign.

REQUEST Free 3xlt & 4xlt clothes for dudes.

I'm not selling anything.

I have recently lost some weight and rather than go through the hassle of yard selling clothes or selling them at some shop or app I've decided to give the clothes away to big fellas in need. Times are tough and big and tall clothing are holy shit expensive. Most of these clothes are from DXL, JC Penny or Duluth. Shirts and pants/jeans.

I don't want to give these to some person that is just going to turn around and relist them elsewhere. So, if you're a big or tall fella and you NEED some clothes, hit me up and I'll see what I have. I have bags and bags of clothing and I've honestly forgotten what I even had. If I had to guess I have pants in 54 to 42 waist, 32/34 inseam. All shirts are tall as I'm 6'6".

Sorry if this isn't allowed mods.

Spent 3 weeks in Cbus and WOW, what a difference from Cleveland!

From Cleveland but have lived in many other states and cities in my life and NOTHING compares to Cbus. Maybe it's because I'm older now but you all are very colorful...for sure!

Definitely have to keep up with traffic. Oh, and the semis driving downtown in the left lane can kiss my @ss. I am an aggressive driver and stay to pace but there are some very obnoxious people! I get it.

Just curious what your thoughts are comparing Cleveland to Columbus?

AI commercials rant

All AI commercials fall into one of 3 categories

1: We invest in Columbus... Only no you really don't. You hire people to build data centers and buy products. You barely pay taxes, and you single handedly raise our electric bills by like 50%. So you don't invest in shit. You PAY your bills and that's it. investing in Columbus would include donations, not paying your bills.

  1. Advertisements saying "How much AI helps you."

  2. Advertisements for companies that directly state "We want to replace your workers."

It's actually impressive how AI ads are only persuasive for people with absolutely zero awareness of the world around them.

More over, why are they even advertising? You really need to spend money telling people you aren't the devil?

REQUEST What restaurants/places are open on Christmas?

Due to family circumstances, my fiancee and i are gonna be spending Christmas alone together for the first time ever and this has been really hard on her, she’s been dreading the season coming in general. I would really like to have a little something for us to do that day to get her mind off it a bit, even just a dinner out together. A little about us

•she gets overstimulated easily so nothing super overwhelming or really loud
•nothing that involves a lot of walking, she can do zoo lights but nothing that’s gonna be a big hike
•we are fairly open as far as cuisine goes always interested to try new stuff at least

Anyone have experience filing small claims against a large company? (Nationwide Children’s)

I have absolutely no experience filing small claims and wondering if anyone can share their experience against a large company.

Nationwide children’s billed us for a balance that should’ve been sent to Medicaid. However, they billed us and a stupid setting in our HSA account paid the bill for us and drained our HSA account early last year and sent that money to Nationwide.

We called them immediately and asked them to bill Medicaid and refund us. They agreed and we thought the matter was settled. Since then, we have called and emailed and fought with them to send us this money back. It has been almost 16 months of this back and forth.

They collected the balance of the bill from Medicaid. We confirmed that with Medicaid. We also confirmed with our HSA provider Cigna that no money was refunded to our account. Would this not be considered Medicaid fraud at this point? The amount is approximately $3,000. It seems like too small of an amount to involve a lawyer and just right for small claims. Any advice would be appreciated.

Anyone interested in a book club/book friend? 🩷

I’ve really been into reading lately and I would love to create or join an already established book club. I’m also open to just a one on one type of situation where we read the same book, a certain amount of pages a week or every couple days and discuss either over food/pastries or facetime 🙂‍↔️ I enjoy psychological thrillers the most but I am open to all genre’s , I just really want to be around someone or people who have this same interest!

Reading alone at a place and getting the plot twist of the century and not being able to discuss it with anyone is starting to make me antsy haha. Like you guys don’t know what I just read omg!

But anyways if anyone is interested contact me. 29f , in the short north area 💖 we could meet up to see if we vibe, or text/facetime to see if we’re a good match. I love connecting to people who share my same special interests hehe

Local missing man — some Columbus residents may recognize James Morton from the car business

James Morton is a missing Central Ohio man, and I wanted to share his flyer here in case anyone in the Columbus area recognizes him.

James spent many years working in car sales, including on the west side and at other dealerships around Central Ohio. Because of that, there may be people in this subreddit who bought a car from him, worked with him, or simply crossed paths with him over the years.

His family is still looking for answers, and getting his face back in front of local people could matter. If you recognize James or remember having contact with him, especially more recently, please make sure any potentially relevant information is passed along to the appropriate law-enforcement agency.

Even if you don’t know him personally, sharing his flyer with other Columbus-area communities can help keep his case visible.

CaseTrace flyer:

https://casetraceapp.com/flyer/32670

Please keep discussion respectful and avoid speculation. The goal is simply to get James’s face and verified case information in front of more local people.

Local Parrot Sanctuaries/Rescues for Volunteering

This is a shot in the dark but I'm struggling with the "just Google it" method. I'm a bird lover - especially parrots - and I've been considering volunteering with a local rescue or sanctuary. That said, I don't have enough hands-on experience with birds to consider myself anything other than a noob. Does anyone know of places in the area that take volunteers? Most of the places I've found online aren't actually very close (closest was an hour away). Any info is appreciated and if you have a bird please share pics so I can at least love them from afar 😂
