Review I think I Just Saw The Best Movie Ever
Magnolia—this movie is probably the best three hours I’ve ever spent. I find it impressive that Paul Thomas Anderson made this movie before he turned 30. I loved how the movie manages to tell several stories about different people all happening on the same day, all at the same time, and still manages to tie all those stories together. In that sense, *Magnolia* is similar to pulp fiction: both focus on multiple stories taking place on the same day, both have a nonlinear structure, and both incorporate music into the narrative in a really effective way. Honestly, it’s hard for me to think of anything bad to say about this movie. Even the scene with the rain of frogs was really good because of how random it was. As far as I’m concerned, this movie could have been 6 hours long and I still would have watched it. The next step is to watch *Boogie Nights*—that’s going to be interesting.
Update: A friend of mine told me that the frog rain scene is related to Greek mythology—sometimes in those stories, something surreal would happen as an allegory for the characters; the rain washes away all the mess that had been in the movie.
By the way, I forgot to mention this, but Aimee Mann’s music in this movie was great, and when her song “Save Me” played during the end credits, I stayed to watch the credits just because it was such a good song.
Also, the scene where the song “The Logical Song” came on really pleasantly surprised me.

Discussion What’s a comedy movie that turned out to be surprisingly emotional?
Mine would be Click (2006)
Definitely in my top three Adam Sandler movies, along with Punch-Drunk Love and 50 First Dates. Was definitely not expecting to cry in this movie but him and his damn fat-suit make me tear up every single time.
My ex recommended this to me and it’s the only good thing that came out of our relationship honestly.

Review You should watch "you can see everything" in the front row
A very thought provoking and great watch, but definitely scary at some points in the film. The whole movie was shot in close up face shots and this view was absolutely immaculate in the front row. I would highly recommend to watch in the very front in xd if you can. You really haven’t experienced cinema until someone’s nostrils take up your entire peripheral vision. Every facial expression becomes a major geographical event.

Question I crave more films with Rutger Hauer in badass roles?
Recently watched Blade Runner (1982) for the first time ever at 18 years old and Rutger Hauer was absolutely exceptional, especially his soliloquy at the end. After that I watched Hitcher (1986) and he also stood out so much. I just love watching his expressions, how could I have slept on him for so long??
Sometimes he's so Terminator-like, it would have been so interesting to see him in Terminator 2, I feel like he would nail it, especially with his piercing eyes.
What movies can you recommend where he's a badass (or just your favourite performances of him in general) for someone who is getting into his discography?

Discussion What you think about rocknrolla ?
I think it's one off the most underrated Guy Ritchie movies even thoughit'svery similar to his other films. In this movie Gerard Butler is playing One Two who is working with criminal Lenny Cole who recently got very expensive painting from Russian shady buisnes men .

Discussion Best Place To Be
I’ve given this a lot of thought and I’ve narrowed it down to four options, and I’d like more input.
In your opinion what would be the best place to live, based upon movies only and not real life.
Late 70’s to early 90’s Hong Kong
80’s Tokyo
80’s to early 90’s Los Angeles
80’s Miami
And stick to the modern era; sure 16th century Roma would be fun but no one wants cholera.
If you have any other options chime in, give me a reason, or don’t. 😁

Discussion The Guard doesn’t get talked about enough
John Michael McDonagh’s feature debut is one of the best black comedies of the 2010s imo.
Brendan Gleeson is so good as a foul-mouthed, politically incorrect Irish policeman who reluctantly teams up with Don Cheadle’s FBI agent to investigate a drug-smuggling operation.
The dialogue is razor-sharp, the humour pitch-black, and the chemistry between Gleeson and Cheadle is brilliant.
I wonder if John Michael McDonagh is overshadowed by his brother Martin McDonagh - In Bruges, Three Billboards, The Banshees of Inisherin?
Either way, I think The Guard deserves way more recognition. Anyone else think it’s criminally underappreciated?

Throwback 1983 & 1982 Cont’d. … My Own Adventures in Moviegoing!
You all seemed to enjoy my discovery of my old moviegoing diaries, so I’m pleased to present 1983! (In addition, the first image is a page that was missing from 1982.)
I’m glad this sparked a lot of nice memories for so many of you. In 1983, I slowed down a little because we had a big trip to New York City and Florida (to visit the then-new EPCOT Center) in June, and in November I got a job … at a movie theater, naturally!
“Poltergeist” is highlighted because it’s where I broke the mark for the movies I had seen the previous year. So far, though, I can’t find my diary from 1981.
Note: I particularly love that I noted how much money I had spent (of my parents’ money, it should be noted), and how much time I spent watching movies!

Discussion Thoughts on Chinatown?
I remember seeing it a while back without a rewatch. I remember it surprisingly well. Its definitely incredible. The script is top notch. It goes from an adultery story to a mass conspiracy so effortlessly well. The acting was all great. Cross is so unnerving. The cinematography was beautiful. Still holds up to this day. Score is top notch too. And don’t even get me started on that twist. 9.5/10.

Movie Theaters I hate modern cinema goers
I’m a pretty patient woman but every time I go to the cinema there’s usually one guy who’s on his phone with brightness turned up, someone who turned on their flashlight to find their seat cus they’re late or someone talking or laughing obnoxiously in the back.
We are here to watch a film, be respectful.

Discussion Thoughts on Blood in Blood out
I have a colleague who have seen a crazy anount of movies. But he haven't seen Blood in Blood out. We had the movie on both VHS and DVD when I was young and introduced it to a lot of friends.
Now I wonder if the movie wasnt as big as I thought it was.
So what are your thoughts. Was one of my favorites when I was a teenager.
