Has anyone had skin like this and been able to clear it?

Its a cycle I experience. It gets calm and then gets worse and recently its just been getting worse and worse. All I use is minimal barrier friendly products and mineral sunscreen but it does not get better.

Its always the cheeks. My skin does flare up in heat, embarrassment and strong acids. Its like a baby and sensitive. My diet isnt high in sugar either. Im pretty healthy.

Ive tried sulfur, soolantra , azaelic acid (which worked wonders years ago but now nothing works including finacea) , benzoyl peroxide but nothing works at all and im sure theres a hormonal component to it.

I would appreciate any sort of advice if you've had skin like this !

Hello i've been dealing with consistent breakouts on my cheeks. Everytime I think it starts to get better a constellation shows up on my face and leaves their mark on the way out. I deal with combination skin I can be really oily but at the same time dry. My skin is also really sensitive. Any recommended products would be amazing!

Help - General It's been years and I'm finally getting tired

Im on my last straw.

When I was 14 years old, my mother brought me to a dermatologist to deal with a few pimples on my face. The dermatologist prescribed a strong medication (forgot the name, it's been over 6 years now) and it ended up BURNING my skin off because of misuse. We didn't have WiFi back then so I wasn't able to properly search about how to use it safely and the dermatologist didn't give us enough instructions.

I never got myself treated for the burn and I got a really ugly scar that hunted me for years, hoping it will be disappear in a few years.

Low and behold, it's 6 years later and I'm still struggling with it.

I've tried a lot of things, I can't afford to try everything due to funds, but I really did try alot of things. Glycolic acid, BHA toners, Azelaic acid, naicinamide, various and other exfoliators. The only thing that I'm focusing on now is lessening the acne (all the ones here are fairly new and will be gone in like 2 days), I'm using the pair acne medication cream and Dr Althea's 345 cream plus sunscreen as my only routine rn. it's just the small dark bumps behind them that don't go away. I break out easily, and even though I manage my diet well and avoid triggers, it's impossible to completely stop eating them (chocolates, nuts, dairy...etc) which makes clearing the acne blemishes extremely difficult and costly.

Everyone keeps telling me to exfoliate but that clearly hast worked so far. I watched tutorials online for the best practices, what to do and not to do to make sure I don't waste my products needlessly.

Should I just get a lazer treatment? Even though I've heard a lot of negative experiences with them and I'm not keen, it just seems like my only option rn...

Btw, it looks much worse than it does in the pictures...

Before & After I think I’ve found a good routine for my decades-persistent acne!

I’ve struggled with Acne for at least ten years (23F) and I think I’ve finally found a routine that’s consistently helping. Hope it may help someone dealing with similar struggles!

TLDR Products:

  1. CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum
  2. CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser
  3. CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion
  4. Hydrocolloid patches (a roll is a way cheaper!!!)

I chose to start slow with the Retinol and only use it AFTER moisturizing. I didn’t have any breakouts or dryness or discomfort using it this way.

Tried in the past:
Accutane
Spironolactone
Clindamycin
Antibiotics
PanOxyl
Other retinols
probably 100 other actives + holistics

Okay I literally can’t say shit that isn’t b-nned that’s my routine hope it helps

someone needs to deal with r#ddit m#ds at large bffr

Help - General Sick of this!

I’ve had hormonal cystic acne on and off for 10 years. I recently went maybe 2 months completely clear, and then, over the past few days, I’ve developed new cysts on the left side of my cheek. But now, this new thing is happening where I get these red marks? They kind of look like acne scarring, but most of the time, nothing happens, and occasionally, they turn into cysts.

Also, just in the last hour, I’ve noticed this random AF white circle with redness around the outside and a slight dip in the middle. I’ve never seen this before, and the right side of my face is completely clear.

I got the Omnilux Clear mask 4–5 months ago and have been using it at least 5 nights a week since then, so I wonder if my skin has randomly started reacting to that? IDK, I’m just tired of wondering what’s causing all my issues. 😩

My skin was clean for the most part (last 2 pics), and about a month ago I had a few pimples that left my skin scarred and uneven. I used to use panoxyl fash wash, panoxyl toner/ witch hazel, moisturizer & sunscreen. I’ve also tried a dark spot correcting cream. That routine doesn’t seem to be working. What should I do/ use to help?

Help - General Raised bumps won’t go down !

I’ve got cystic acne:( I have had a deep pimple since August and I can’t get it to go down…it’s much flatter than it was but it’s still sticking out of my face and I can see there’s fluid below. I’m from the UK so injections aren’t very accessible. What can I do to reduce the lump and inflammation ???

Help - General tips? help? anything?

I had no acne my entire life, i’ve always had the clearest skin and would constantly get compliments. Once I turned 19 I started to get painful cystic acne for no reason. I went on spironolactone and i’ve been on it since. now i’m 22 and it’s returned even worse. it’s so severe and painful and covering my entire face. it hurts to sleep, wash my face, smile, etc. it has honestly been making me feel so depressed and i don’t know what to do. i’m on 50mg right now. i’m so embarrassed i don’t even want to leave my house. i just don’t look like myself anymore. Everyday I wake up with new acne and I wish that was an exaggeration.

I’m about to switch to a different birth control pill this week, my doctor said that could make a change. I’m honestly just feeling so helpless about it. I just want it to go away. I’m an actress and I feel like it’s gonna stop me from getting more work.

Help - General Acne scars/purging

Hi everyone I need help and advice I started seeing an esthetician back in June for minor hormonal breakouts. We started a routine using glymed and skin better products I began using a retinol by skin alpharet clearing serum 3-4x a week and the purge has still been purging today . She said it can take up up a year for it to purge the acne out. I keep breaking out in the same area everytime I put the retinol I “purge” . I went back to her and she told me to reduce it two twice a week and now I’m using “skin better alto defense serum “and “even tone correcting serum”. My skin is still breakout somewhat. I’m just not sure if how long should I hold this out for before I give up.My acne keeps leaving these deep scars and I’m feeling defeated. I also began using the glymed benzoyl peroxide face wash twice a week. Note: all the actives are only being use twice a week and I just rotate. If you have any advice or if you’ve dealt with skin-better and glymed products let me know your experience. The pictures above are from being on this skin care routine and are my most recent

Discussion Year #8 of having acne

Hi! I actually wanted to talk about this and see if anyone else feels the same way, but for so long, my acne mattered so much. It was the first thing I thought about in the morning and the last thing at night. It consumed over half of my thoughts throughout the day. I HATED my skin, and I could never stop thinking about it. I would not allow myself to go out to certain events or spend time with others, and I felt like my acne dictated my value.

The thing is that I was that way for 7 years. So much of my brainpower was dedicated to my acne. I tried over 150+ skincare products during my 8 years of having acne. If I walked into a Sephora, I would be able to point out every single product I have used and how much I liked it and how much I recommend it.

And well, now being in Year 8, it's odd, but I've realized I dont care as much anymore. 5 years ago I posted on this subreddit about how much I hated my skin. And now I barely think about it. I just got tired of thinking about it. I tried EVERYTHING except for Accutane, and nothing worked, so now I'm just exhausted. It's so weird to think about, and I was wondering if anyone feels the same? Like they reached their limit of how much time they could spend thinking about it.

PIE/PIH how do i get rid of all this scarring

Post image
2 Upvotes

all this PIE scarring is from years of acne but I’ve finally cleared it, but not really, because now I’m left with all this scarring that wont go away. I’ve been using azelaic acid because i heard that it’s the best thing for this specific type but its hardly fading old scars, only newer ones. Tretinoin dosent work for me so I only use it as spot treatment

Help - General Post-birth control acne that won't go away

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

I never really had acne as a teenager or adult, just the occasional pimple here and there. I used the vaginal contraceptive ring for about 10 years and stopped using it at the beginning of this year. Shortly afterwards, I started developing acne, first on my neck, then on my back, and now on my face.
I’ve already seen a dermatologist and have been using the prescribed topical treatments, but unfortunately, they don’t seem to be helping.

Has anyone experienced something similar after stopping hormonal birth control, especially after using it for so many years? Did your skin eventually go back to normal? If so, how long did it take, and what treatments actually helped you?

Thank you!

I’ve been dealing with acne since I was probably 12 years old I am 30F now. My skin texture is quite bumpy and oily . My current routine is just gentle vanicream cleanser and Sofia pacify sunscreen in the morning and tret cream 0.05% at night. I’ve been doing that the past few weeks.
