Announcement Why We Can No Longer Allow Recommendations for Dr. Salar Hazany

The moderation team has completed an extensive investigation into coordinated deceptive activity on this subreddit. The evidence concluded that Dermatologist, Dr. Salar Hazany and/or members associated with The Scar Institute of Beverly Hills in California, USA, have repeatedly created fake accounts, posed as satisfied patients, and simultaneously falsified negative outcome testimonials acting as real patients at other medical offices. The same practice was formally warned and temporarily suspended early this year but the offenses resumed and escalated.

The community’s safety and trust are non-negotiable, we have a zero-tolerance stance toward any form of covert marketing, shilling, or competitor defamation. Accounts identified as socks, shills, or alts tied to this provider have been permanently banned.

Separate from the astroturfing scheme, we have received a growing number of patient complaints that fall well outside the scope of ordinary side-effect discussions. These include:

- Innapropriate conduct and comments made to both male and female patients.

- Unexpected facial sagging, facial-fat loss, and other serious anatomical changes.

- Dr. Hazany has reportedly delegated procedures to alternate staff mid treatment to rotating medical students without the patient’s prior knowledge or consent.

We are not a medical regulator; we can, however, protect this subreddit from being used as an extension of an unethical marketing department and from becoming an unwitting referral pipeline for a provider whose conduct might soon by under formal scrutiny by state and specialty boards.

What this means going forward:

  1. No recommendations referencing Dr. Salar Hazany or The Scar Healing Institute of Beverly Hills (SHI) will be allowed.
  2. Anyone who suspects new shill accounts is asked to use the “Report” button rather than engaging; witch-hunting threads derail discussion and will be removed.
  3. “DM me for the name/website/price” is not allowed. All substantive information must be posted publicly so every member can benefit. If you’re tempted to send or solicit a private message for a referral, those comments will be removed and repeat offenders will be banned.
  4. Physician participation is welcome and general education is encouraged, however, funnels that steer users off-board (“message me to schedule,” “visit my site for pricing”) are not. Answer in-thread, cite published evidence, and let readers decide their next step.
  5. There are times that we receive reports of suspicious comments. When a report is made, an investigation is done and we reach out to the commentator for more details. If we determine that the account is legitimate, we ask that you remain respectful while the commentator continues to engage in the thread. Sometimes people want privacy.

We recognize that cosmetic and procedural sub-specialties are contentious by nature, and bad outcomes can occur even in the best hands. Transparency, informed consent, and honest peer-to-peer discussion are the only ways this board remains useful. Practices that deliberately erode that transparency forfeit the privilege of being mentioned here.

If you have questions about this policy, contact the mod team via ModMail.

Thank you for helping us keep this a transparent community.

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Which treatments are best?

Hi all! Looking for best treatment options for these scars. The first picture is with the worst side lighting right next to a window. The second is if I pull my skin taut in that same lighting. Do these scars look tethered? Do you think I would likely be a good candidate for subcision and filler? Just filler? Something else? I’m pregnant currently and am just coming up with a plan postpartum. Also would appreciate knowing how severe you perceive these scars/how noticeable they are on a scale of 1-10. Would you fix them if you were in my position? Thanks

Thoughts/Review (Q) it is said that the results from laser treatments often show up after 2-3 months as remodeling is a gradual process. Has anyone here had the same experience?

Hi I was wondering what kind of procedure would give me the best results for these scars ? My options are quite limited and I’m quite scared of making them worse than they are. When I wakeup in the morning they’re all almost flat but through the day they get more noticeable.

After isotretinoin is had 2 subscisions and 3 4mm deep medical dermarollers but i’m still not in peace with my skin. I know it’s not as bad but compared to the skin i had before i’m just not happy with it. I had this redness and uneven texture, plus large pores for years now. My skin is always dull and not looking healty at all. I tried using skicnare rutines for the redness and dullnes but it does nothing, after it absorbs its dull again. Please recommend me treatments. The first pictures are my skin currently and the last ones are the skin i had before.

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Should I try TCA Cross on my scars?

I’ve had them since teenage years. Now (28) I wish I could do something to minimize their appearance over time. I’ve heard people use TCA on similar scars with great success, however with risks present.

Scars are only on both cheeks. Redness is just on the photo cause I used SA cleanser before taking this picture. I will appreciate any advice on improving skin texture!

Hi! I’d love to get some advice on my acne scars. Which procedure would you recommend?
I’ve already had fractional CO2 laser, TCA CROSS, and microneedling. I was wondering whether subcision might be a good option for me, although I was also considering having another laser treatment, but this time using a different type of laser from the one I’ve had before.

Feel free to share your thoughts, especially if you’ve had any of these procedures yourself and could tell me about your results.

Thank you! 😊

I’ve been dealing with acne scars for decades and have tried several different procedures. Subcision has made a significant difference for me and saved me a lot of money. I’m still receiving treatment from a caring, passionate doctor who has helped me regain my confidence. I hesitated to share this, but I hope my experience helps others going through something similar and considering subcision. I’m so glad I took this step.

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Would I benefit from subscion before other treatments?

Thumbnail

My dermatologist has suggested me to do 6-7 sessions of either MNRF + PRP or CO2 + PRP (80 and 70 dollars each session) with chemical peels before and while doing the treatments.

But there was one doubt in my mind, that is..Would doing subscion before the resurfacing treatments would be beneficial for my scars?

I think I might have one big shallow rolling scar at the side of my cheek

Venting Can we stop pretending like it's common to have acne scars?

I don't know about you but I'm around college aged people and rarely do I see anyone with acne scars. It's not makeup either because no one really cares about what they look like in class. I believe that millennials are the ones with worse skin because of less knowledge online about treatments and products for skincare.

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring TCA cross + CO2 fractional laser simultaneously

I'm going to try it next month for my icepick scars on the cheeks and general renewal.

Has anyone tried these two together (first TCA and then laser, within first visit at the clinic)?

If yes, how did it feel? Does it hurt badly?

Did you have bad skin reaction?

Did it actually help, and in what percentage was it better after 1 treatment?

Thanks in advance!

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Reviews for acne scar treatment in Chiang Mai? (Dr. Alex, Lannawadee, or Sompetch Clinic)

I’m heading to Chiang Mai soon and planning on getting a combined acne scar treatment (subcision + nanofat transfer + fractional CO2 laser) while I'm there. Chiangmai Ram Hospital unfortunately has no availability during my travel dates.

Has anyone had experience with any of the following clinics or doctors?

  • Dr. Alex Aesthetic Clinic: 25,000 THB (~$745 USD) for subcision and CO2 laser. Needs a 1,000 THB (~$30 USD) consultation in person before quoting nanofat. Clinic feedback:

For your acne scars, we can discuss the following options:
• Fat grafting: We offer fat grafting, including a nanofat approach, which we can consider after assessing your scars.
• HA filler: This would not be Dr. Alex’s first choice for you, as the effects are temporary and maintenance treatments may be needed.
• Sculptra: Dr. Alex would be cautious about using it for superficial acne scars because of the risk of lumps or nodules.
• Other options: Juvelook, growth factor treatment, and fractional laser may be considered as part of an individual treatment plan.

  • Lannawadee Clinic: 2,900 THB (~$86 USD) for subcision, 2,900 THB (~$86 USD) for CO2 Laser, and 29,900 THB (~$890 USD) for Nanofat
  • Sompetch Plastic Surgery: Subcision starts at 5,000 THB (~$150 USD); no CO2 laser available. HA filler is 13,000 THB (~$388 USD). I'm not sure if they offer nanofat, but they're still on my list because one post in this subreddit had a strong recommendation with photos. Clinic gave me this feedback:

Nanofat injections can also help improve acne scars to some extent; however, the results are generally less significant than those that may be achieved with Juvederm filler or subcision, depending on the type and severity of the scars.

Recovery Process Smartxel co₂ laser downtime?

I'm having this treatment for my acne scarring soon, and I'm a bit anxious about the down time due to having to go on the school run. Can anyone give me any insight please?

I've been told it's fine to wear makeup once my skin has healed, not peeling etc which they said about 2-4 days - but surely it's not that soon?

Thank you

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Can someone tell me what I can do?

I don’t know how much the camera picked up. I honestly didn’t even think i had that much scarring, I just thought it was hyperpigmentation that could be gone overtime. But some people pointed out that I had “holes” on my face, now that’s all i can think about. I’ve seen people saying that scars cant go away 100% even after treatments. I wish I took care of my acne sooner. Now I have to live with it. I’m 24F and completed my accutane dose 4months ago

Edit: I tried my best to take a “high quality” photo. I’ve been trying for several days actually. But this is the best I can go ig. please don’t remove my post, admin

Information/Research At my breaking point, Bay Area, without a car - flying to Dr Qazi or treating locally? How did you decide?

Hey everyone I'm in the Bay Area, 24F, dealing with Boxcars, icepick scars and hyperpigmentation and I still get breakouts. I've been battling with acne for over 10 years ever since puberty and it has left a number on my skin and mental health.

My skin is really reactive, which makes me nervous about picking the wrong person. I want to find someone who speaks english based in California since its most convenient for me and has a very conservative approach to scar treatment as I am terrified of sagging and burning my skin or turning the texture to leather which I've seen stories here before-but I don't want to live in fear anymore and this has ruined my ability to feel confident in myself and even talk to people. Even fillers (the idea that they stay there forever or migrate/not a part of my body) are a little scary for me and probably arent' something I'll pursue.

Dr. Qazi in Newport Beach keeps coming up with a great reputation and I'm tempted, but I'm stuck on the real question: is it worth traveling for a scar specialist? I have searched forever but can't find someone I find reputable here in Bay Area.

My situation:
* No car - I'd fly SJC/SFO → SNA and Uber everywhere down there
* Money matters, but I'd rather pay properly to do it right the first time than cut corners
* I know this is multiple sessions, which is what scares me about travel every session = flight + hotel + Ubers (I see cheap flights from frontier but their reliability sounds terrible and I don't want to end up missing an appointment and also I'd have to take time off so maybe I'd fly in on a sunday, have monday appointment and leave monday evening?)

My questions:
* If you traveled for treatment was it worth it? How many trips did it end up being?
* Anyone treated by Qazi, did you combine consult + first treatment in one trip?
* Bay Area people, who did you see, and would you go back?

I'm so tired of being sad and being cropped out of photos 😢 (this legitimately happened when I won a contest and they cropped me out of every photo and it still hurts me to this day) please give guidance if anyone has any

EDIT: forgot to mention I’m East Asian if that has anything to do with scarring

[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Best Options for scar?

I have this scar, i think it’s a boxcar. I was wondering what the best but most cost effective treatments would be. I like it’s in between being deep and shallow.

Please don’t downvote for it being one scar, it’s still a big insecurity of mine because of how visible it is on my face.

Also sorry for the peach fuzz this is harsh lighting!
