legs/feet Dr won't take me seriously, what is this?

Hi all

Please help me if you can.

About 6 weeks ago while I was driving home from work my last two toes on my right foot felt cold/itchy. The itchy feeling didn't go away and was mostly present on my little toe. It was weird as if it was intensely itching 24/7. As in if I randomly scratched it I felt relief because it was itchy the entire time.

I bought some daktarin 2% cream but it went on for a month! Went to the drs and got home essentially they wouldn't take me seriously. I was like this is more than a normal itch it is intense and a literal 24/7 it doesn't stop. I felt like I could have ripped the skin off.

Fast forward to this week a dark/discoloured patch/spot with dry skin has formed underneath my 4th toe but my doctor won't give me an appointment for it. Does anyone know what it might be please? The spot is painful and feels hard but like under the skin hard.

It's now 6 weeks of suffering. I've ordered some wart/verruca cream online but I'm worried it's something else as. Outside of my home (and have had no visitors) I've only taken off my shoes publicly twice to get my toes painted. The itching came on before the second pedicure and the first one was start of July so thinking a wart/verruca would have showed up long before now.

Thank you!

neck/chest/abdomen Diagnosed with ringworm, but starting to think I was misdiagnosed. Does this look like ringworm or something else? NSFW

I went to my gp and she diagnosed me with ringworm based off a visual exam only. At the time I only had the patch on my back (labeled “first” in the second picture) and then two new smaller patches on my breast and just under it. She prescribed me an antifungal cream (Miconazole 2%) and said if it continued to spread let her know and she would prescribe me an oral antifungal.

I did ask for the oral antifungal in following days because it started spreading pretty rapidly. I’ve been taking Terbinafine. I’ve taken 5 doses so far but the rash is continuing to spread, and I’ve still been using the cream twice a day as well, which was advised by the pharmacist.

The first spot was on my back, then the two on my breast. Next I noticed one on my neck, just in my hairline, and one on my thigh, right where my thigh meets my torso, kind of in the crease. Now the spots are all over. I have them all over my back, on my stomach, chest, shoulders, neck, and legs. They are continuing to appear since starting treatment a week and a half ago.

I’m concerned that they might not actually be ringworm because none of them really look like the images online to me. That, combined with the fact that the treatment hasn’t made a difference and it is continuing to spread, and no one else in my life has ringworm despite it being very contagious. (I have also been washing my bedding on high heat with laundry sanitizer daily, washing my clothing and towels the same way after each use, and deep cleaning my home.)

My back had been itchy before going to the doctor, but not the spot specifically. It was just my entire back was slightly itchy. Since starting treatment, the spot has gotten incredibly itching and irritated, almost a burning sensation. It has really increased in the past few days. I’m wondering if my skin is very dry from the treatment and that’s why.

The new spots seem to start almost like bug bites, small raised white bumps, then they turn into red patches.

This is really worrying me and also driving me crazy. I’m planning on making another appointment with my gp, but I’m unsure if I just need to give the treatment more time to work or not. Please help me! Does this look like ringworm or something else? I’ll answer any questions if more info is needed.

(Pictures: 1&2 is my back, 3 is shoulder, 4 is neck, 5 is breast/chest, 6 is upper thigh. The other spots are on my stomach, butt, legs, and hips and they mostly look like the spots on my shoulder)

back Change in mole, should I worry?

I had a new mole appear in February of 2026. It is on my lower back. I wasn't worried about it at first, but now it has a new brown spot on it in October of 2026. Should I worry or does it still look relatively the same and unconcerning?

back red ring around splotchy mole

• Upvotes

over the last year, i’ve ( 25/ F) noticed a progressively enlarging mole. multiple times, it has grown, both in size, and in noticeability physical discomfort. it had itched in the past. i’m assessing it now, as it has caused physical discomfort once again. I showed to my mother, and she told me to get it checked out ASAP, so I made an appointment 3 days away. we’re both worried it’s melanoma.

Can someone prep me on / share your experience with a biopsy and the waiting for results? I’ll research what to do if this were to be a “positive” :/ experience.

Any time spent responding to this post is heavily appreciated.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Pimple emerged behind my left earlobe and turned into this over a bit of time despite being treated

Post image
• Upvotes

21M, I have had noticeable acne for about 6 years.

This pimple emerged about 3 months ago it was treated with local antibiotic ointment immediately, it seemed to be developing very slowly until it rapidly degenerated over the course of the last 3 weeks, it appears to be resistant to antibiotics (local and oral), to the touch it feels like a pouch of liquid underneath the skin, it is very sensible even grazing it is painful, to be precise it feels inflammatory, it sometimes bleeds in my sleep but the only openings are tiny spots localized on it's upper side.

My medication do not cause any effect of the sort and I have not been exposed to anything that could cause a dermic reaction.

I hope that I am respecting the community's rules and many thanks to anyone who will read or reply to this post.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Extremely itchy, recurring red facial patches since June - seeking advice on possible causes and treatment

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I've been dealing with a recurring skin problem on my face since June, and I'm looking for advice on what this could be and how to manage it.
I develop flat, red patches across different areas of my face. The itching can become extremely intense, and when I scratch or rub the affected areas, they become noticeably redder. The rash sometimes settles down but keeps coming back and seems to spread to other areas of my face.
Some background that might be relevant:
I used to swim regularly, but I stopped after this problem started because I wondered whether swimming pool water or chemicals could be contributing.
A friend of mine has contact dermatitis on her hands and has touched my face. I'm unsure whether this could be related.
My boyfriend has also been experiencing an itchy beard, and I'm wondering whether I could have picked up something from close skin-to-skin contact with him.
I suspect I may not tolerate niacinamide well.
I previously reacted to fresh aloe vera. Recently, I applied fresh aloe vera gel and ground oats to my face, and the itching and redness became worse afterwards.
Cicaplast Baume B5+ seems to make my skin feel dry.
My current skincare routine:
Morning: Etude SoonJung Emulsion followed by La Roche-Posay sunscreen.
Night: Simple face wash followed by a generous layer of Aquaphor.
I'm unsure whether any of these products could be contributing to the irritation, even though I'm trying to keep my routine simple.
Other products I have at home include Cetaphil Moisturising Cream, Bioderma Atoderm Crème Ultra, La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ and Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream.
I'm not sure whether this could be allergic contact dermatitis, irritant dermatitis, eczema, a fungal condition or something else.
I'd really appreciate advice on the following:
What conditions could cause recurring, intensely itchy red patches on the face like this?
Could swimming pool exposure have triggered the initial problem, even though I stopped swimming afterwards?
Could my boyfriend's itchy beard be relevant, and should he also get it checked?
Would patch testing help identify a possible contact allergy?
Could any of my current skincare products be aggravating the rash?
What is the safest way to manage the itching and redness during a flare-up?
I've attached photos showing what my face looks like during a flare. Any advice based on similar experiences or suggestions on what to discuss with a dermatologist would be appreciated.
Thank you!

back New mole change—concerning?

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

The original mole has been there for a couple years without much change. Now it is about 1/2” at the largest measurement. The dark almost black portion is recently new and I noticed it last night. The mole is under my bra band on my side, so it could have developed fairly quickly or over a couple months. I’m not sure because I don’t look at it often. I have an appointment scheduled this week. But does anyone have a take on if this is concerning or guaranteed red flag? It is not itchy or bleeding.

I haven’t tried any medications or had it biopsied. I assume my derm will biopsy it this week.

arms/hands Recurring extremely itchy bumps on elbows for years. Any idea what this could be?

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

34F. I’ve had this strange recurring rash on my elbows for years, and I’ve never gotten a clear answer about what it is.

It comes and goes randomly. Sometimes I’ll go an entire year without an issue, and other times I’ll have repeated flare-ups. It can happen on either elbow, usually just one at a time.

Symptoms:
-Small, hard, raised bumps clustered together
-Sudden, extremely intense itching
-Bumps become red, swollen, and almost hive-like during a flare
-Sometimes burns as well as itches
-The swelling and itching eventually calm down, but I can still feel the bumps afterward
-Skin can look completely normal between episodes
-Hydrocortisone cream doesn’t help

I’ve also been tested for celiac disease, and the results were negative.

Has anyone seen something similar or have any ideas what could cause this? I’m especially curious why it would keep recurring in the same general area for so many years then disappear for years and cause such intense itching.

I have had this small circle like patch on my cheek for over a month now. It looks the same
It always has since it started. It’s not itchy or painful but it does feel raised and rough.
I have tried putting some eczema cream on it along with my normal skincare routine.
It is close to a tattoo I have been lasering off not sure if that could be relevant.

This has been present but not this bad for the last 3-4 years, it’s on both arms, both legs and has now started to spread across my stomach, it started on my lower legs, then my arms and has gotten significantly worse over the last 6 months. It doesn’t hurt or itch, however without moisturiser they do turn dry but still no pain/itching.

I have tried a steroid spray called Enstilar - which used to help reduce the redness but never got rid of it. I have type 1 diabetes (diagnosed 2020) and it was not present before being diagnosed however i’m unsure if it is related.

I saw a dermatologist 4 years ago who said it might be a type of psoriasis however I am unable to remember what type - any remedies or ideas would be greatly appreciated

arms/hands Should I see another doctor?

Thumbnail

I hit my finger on a running fan 5 days ago. The next day, it started getting sore and red, but it only hurt when I touched it.

By the third day, the pain and redness had gotten MUCH worse. I tried taking ibuprofen, but it barely helped, so I went to see a doctor on the fourth day.

The doctor noticed a small pocket of pus on my finger and said she didn't want to drain it because it would likely burst on its own. She recommended soaking my finger in warm water several times a day to help it drain naturally. She also prescribed ibuprofen for the pain and an antibiotic ointment to apply once a day for 10 days.

I've been following her instructions and soaking my finger regularly, but the pocket of pus has gotten A LOT bigger and still hasn't burst. The pain has decreased quite a bit, but my finger seems bigger.

Do you guys think I should see another doctor, or is this normal and should I just give it more time?

Need help.
Does this look like ringworm? I have had ringworm years before and it looks similar…
It just appeared today on my 1 year old.
She isn’t itching it and it is not too red. She has been acting totally normal.
She only had one rash on her upper arm.
She does have eczema but this looks too round to be eczema.

I have no idea how she could have gotten it. Can ringworm be treated the same on a one year old ?
I do have lotrimin. Should I start cleaning like crazy and changing all the sheet? I

Omg these are itchy and painful. Are they spider bites? Or from some sort of bug? They came out of nowhere and only on my right hand. No swelling. Drives me nuts! It’s been about 5 days. Anyone know what I can put on them to make the go away, like hydrocortisone cream or something? Have been using calamine lotion but it’s only for the itching. I have never experienced this kind of bite. I’m in central Texas visiting so I’m not familiar with the environment. The ones thar are near the knuckles and joints feel painful when I bend them.

legs/feet Title: Almost a year of painful red/pink discoloration below my outer ankle normal MRI and X-rays, doctors can’t identify the cause

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping to find someone who has experienced something similar because I’ve been dealing with this problem for almost a year, and so far, none of the doctors I’ve seen have been able to explain what it is.
My symptoms:
● I have a persistent red/pink, bruise-like area on my left foot, just below the outer ankle bone.
● The area is painful when I touch or press on it, but the pain is worse when I stand or walk for too long.
● The pain can feel different at different times, and the discoloration sometimes seems to change or appear in another nearby area. It’s difficult to describe exactly.
● When I walk or stand too much, the area becomes more painful and the discoloration seems worse.
● I tried staying on bed rest for approximately two months, but the discoloration never went away.
● Acupuncture temporarily relieves the pain, sometimes almost immediately, but the symptoms eventually return. I’ve also noticed more bleeding from the area when needles are inserted there, although I don’t know whether that is significant.
My medical history and tests:
I had an MRI and X-rays of my left foot, and I was told they were normal. My doctors initially thought the problem might be caused by footwear, friction, or putting extra weight on my left foot because of problems with my right foot.
I had surgery on my right foot on August 10 for an osteochondral lesion (OCD) and an ATFL injury. However, my left-foot symptoms started long before the surgery and have persisted despite resting.
My foot doctor prescribed clobetasol propionate 0.05% cream for the discolored area, but the discoloration was already there before I started using it. Meloxicam helps reduce the pain, but the pain returns when I stop taking it.
I’ve seen a foot-and-ankle specialist, a dermatologist, and other doctors, but no one has been able to identify the cause. Some thought it was simply skin irritation from rubbing, but the area is genuinely painful, especially with weight-bearing.
My questions:
1. Has anyone experienced a persistent, painful red/pink or bruise-like area below the outer ankle despite normal MRI and X-rays?
2. Did your discoloration change location, fade and return, or become more painful after walking?
3. Did you eventually receive a diagnosis or find a test that identified the cause?
4. Could this involve the skin or small blood vessels, a tendon or other soft tissue, a nerve, or something else?
I’m not asking anyone to diagnose me online. I would really appreciate hearing about similar experiences, what specialists you saw, and what investigations helped you finally get an answer.
Thank you!

general enquiry Is this eczema or contact dermatitis?

This has been ongoing on my body and face for about half a year now. I’ve tried topical steroids, vaseline, anti-itch cream, colloidal oatmeal, eczema creams, antihistamines, anti-fungal washes and nothing has helped.

It’s itchy, scaly and dry. I itch a lot in my sleep and I wake up with SO much dead skin under my fingernails. It’s everywhere - especially on my under eyes, eyelids, shoulders, back, face, upper thigh and my neck. I have had sensitive skin for most of my life. I just came back from a camping trip, so this might be what triggered this flare-up again.

Should I go get an allergy test? Should I go get this checked at the doctors? I am at a loss here. Any help is appreciated!

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Incessant dryness and inflammation around upper lip for months (plz read first to understand images)

Okay, so this is going to be a long one since I'm trying to jam as much information into one post as possible.

Hi, I'm 21 and female. I've been having this problem for the last few months. My lips and the area round my upper lip have been irritated and slightly inflamed constantly. I noticed around July-ish maybe August that the skin on top of my upper lip felt rougher. I have fairly dry skin so at the end of the day my skin can get a bit rough but it felt distinctly different. Then the redness came in, and the surface area slowly got bigger and recently it's also been inflamed.

It feels like the skin is dry and it also tingles and burns quite a bit. My skincare routine has been the same for at least two years and I haven't developed any new allergies to any of my products to my knowledge. I've mainly been using Vaseline on the area but I feel like it hasn't been helping as much as I'd hoped. My lips get supper dry so at night I put on a doesn't coat of it on my lips and on my upper lip. When I wake up the whole area feels really dry. (I'm emphasizing a lot on the dryness.) So I put another coat and an hour and a half later the skin on my lips and skin on top of my upper lip is basically peeling off. At this point I don't know what to do and I'm just looking for some advice.

I do touch my face fairly frequently but it's habitual and sometimes I don't notice that I'm doing, and I do wash my hands every chance I can get. I can't afford to see a dermatologist at the moment and want to see if there are any alternatives.

Last thing I can think of is that I don't have any skin conditions that I know of. I did have a vitamin d deficiency a few years ago that gave me small dry patches of skin on my hips but I've taken supplements for that and I spend a lot more time in the sun, so it's probably not related but I thought I should mention it

I've included images of all the products that I use. 1) face wash 2) skincare 3) lip products 4-6) lips fresh out of the shower with nothing applied.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Does this require a dermatologist?

Background: I live 6 hrs away from the nearest dermatologist. There have been recent landslides so avoiding travel as much as possible. Would like your opinion if this warrants a visit to the dermatologist or I can get it cauterized by a non-MD.

Timeline: First noticed this around July this year.

I don’t usually notice this spot because it’s exactly where my eyeglass frame sits on.

I first noticed it because I thought it was a pimple. I left it alone. Then I accidentally scratched it and it bled. It formed a crust and I accidentally scratched it again. And I left it alone.

Late September, I noticed it again and felt it was crusty so I tried to peel it off. It bled. Then it became itchy and I think it grew considerably bigger the last 2 weeks.

I have skin tags and warts that I’ve had cauterized before, but I don’t want to go that route if you guys think this requires to be seen by a dermatologist instead.

1st photo: Present
2nd photo: 1st time I noticed it got bigger early August and accidentally scratched it
3rd photo: 2 weeks ago
4th photo: Last week

Thank you!

I’ve had these bumps on my lower eyelid in the outer corner of my eye on both sides for about 3-4 weeks, the left side is always worse then the right. They’ve cleared up a little bit but haven’t gone away fully and flared up a little today. The pictures are from today. No big changes in skin care or medication :/. Not particularly itchy or oozy, they’re just…there 😅.

genitals buttocks Wounds that take months to heal NSFW Spoiler

I have been getting these small wounds all over my body, but mainly on my buttocks and the back of my thighs. They’re also present on my arms, sides, back, legs… everywhere but my face, genitals, and breasts. They are not itchy, flat other than the scab, and are painful/bleed a decent amount when a scab gets knocked off.

This happened to me back in 2021 as well. I got a punch biopsy done and it was diagnosed as folliculitis. The dermatologist said to use hibiclens in the shower, it didn’t help. I tried tea tree body wash, benzoyl peroxide body wash. Nothing ended up helping, and the condition went away on its own until about a month ago. Any idea what this could be, or what I could try?
