I'm ensuring my research is accurate; UF ranks 34 out of all universities in the United States, yes? So I just glance at their job postings for >>let me mind you no more than 2 minutes<< and I have spotted at least 1 thing requiring a UF employee to ensure my detail-analysis is not wrong, whilst the rest are just really bad job description grammar.
Here are my criticisms and grievances:
- Grievance 1. On the first stanza of the job description, it should print the following in quote to be grammatically accurate without subtracting the job application's original wording:
"Cleans and maintains on a daily basis all halls, offices, shops, classrooms, restrooms, conference rooms, labs, gym areas, locker rooms, and elevators, which includes: sweeping, dusting, dust-mopping, wetmopping, spot-mopping, reconditioning of floors and spot washing and cleaning of walls, doors, and partitions.".
The only other alternative is for HR or whoever proofread this job posting (to be immediately drug and alcohol tested) re-work this job description, or just get someone who can (like me) do it for free and better than all of your staff and HR combined. Then hire me, and watch all the clown shows start packing up and moving away.
- Discrepancy 1: is it "striping" or stripping? The job description on stanza 2 is clearly communicating the floor maintenance standards and expectations. I've done industrial cleaning and I've never heard of "striping" unless you're painting striped lines on blacktop, asphalt, or concrete. I need clarification from HR and related leadership on this wording. If it's "striping", then ignore this discrepancy. If it's "stripping", PLEASE do a delta tango (drug test) on whoever was leadership, HR, proofread and approved this job application.
- Grievance 2. Please view the "special instructions to applicants:" partition of the job posting. Tell me dear netizens, tell me what is wrong with this following sentence:
"Multiple vacancies will be fill from this posting.]".
What in the five flying skies is a right bracket doing in a job posting? The ] is NOWHERE near the period key. Fire ALL HR, leadership, and replace them all with Gen Z with Bachelor's or Master's degrees RIGHT NOW. You better know ninth grade English if you're mandating it on a job and my livelihood as the applicant, depends on you not flunking school at the rate of a15-year-old.
I hope HR reads this reddit post of mine, hires me, and puts me in charge of leadership. This is unacceptable from a top 30 university. All HR here needs a drug and alcohol test NOW and every 30 days/1 calendar month (to include months like February). I know my stuff, if I do my job wrong I get fired. Why do you get to do your job wrong and not get fired? Hire me. I don't get the excuse of flunking school, my dad didn't allow it.
Also this is a facilities position, you should encourage your employees to use the NATO alphabet and have a complete understanding of military time. What if someone is on the radio and you need to distinguish B, V, E, T, Q? If your employees do not know the Julian Calendar, the NATO alphabet, and military time, I demand all HR and leadership be FIRED, and put me in charge and watch this entire campus be SPOTLESS. I mean military sarge spotless.
