During an Honorlock exam, my initial room scan went fine. I showed basically everything, including my desk, the floor, and my lap. I also had an external monitor nearby, but it was off and the screen was completely black. My phone was dead and in another room the entire time.
Within the first 5 minutes of the exam, a proctor messaged me saying Honorlock detected a second device and asked me to do another room scan. I showed the area again, including my calculator, which I think may have been what triggered it, I honestly have no clue. The proctor said thank you and let me continue the exam.
Later, my laptop was about to die, so I said out loud that I needed to grab my charger. I stayed visible on camera, went to my backpack, pulled the charger out with both hands visible, plugged it in, and continued. The proctor didn’t pop up again.
I also tend to fidget with my face/hands a lot during exams, so I’m overthinking whether any of that could look suspicious.
Has anyone at UF had something similar happen? If a proctor contacted you about a supposed second device, you showed everything, and they let you continue, did anything ever happen afterward?
I submitted the exam normally and Canvas shows it was successfully submitted.
Also, would you guys recommend emailing my professor just to explain what happened, or would that be overkill since the proctor let me continue and nothing actually happened?
