Employment Marketing/PR Job Search

Hi fellow gators! I’m 26, an alumni from 2022 (can’t believe it’s been 4 years) living and working in NYC!

I wanted to post here knowing it’s a bit of a stretch. I recently got laid off from my major retail company. After being hired in March of this year, the company laid off a solid 1/3 of corporate. So I’m currently looking for a new role. I have about 4-5 years of experience in public relations, internal/corporate comms, and influencer marketing.

Any referrals, internal references, or advice welcomed. I’ve worked primarily in luxury fashion and retail consumer brands, but would love to pivot into tech, hospitality, finance, etc.

I’m also happy to answer any questions about what I do if you’re a current student!

Those students that have an electric vehicle, where do you usually charge your vehicle? Since I live in an apartment, I don't have the option to charge at home.

Classes Midterm POS4443 Political Parties

• Upvotes

Has anyone taken POS4443 with Roger Austin? His midterm is coming up and I have no idea what it might be like. He only told us it'll be based on the readings, but there are so many so many possible questions that I don't know what to focus on. He also said it'll have short written questions and an essays, but does anyone have an idea of what kind of questions they might be? If you've taken the course before, any idea what it might look like?

Classes Possible spring schedule

So I’m planning on graduating in either spring or summer 2027. But what it really depends on is if I split my classes. I am a Biotech major in CALS. I still have to take Biochem, Eukaryotic cell and structure, independent research in bioinformatics, public speaking. But I also need analytical chem and I was originally planning to take it in summer. I was curious if it would be possible or too much to take it spring so I am done with classes by spring. I figured public speaking and the independent research would be more background and the other would be the main three. Advice?

Other HELP! - REWARD FOR RETURN - Taken luggage and more importantly woobie

[UPDATES] Some new facts we have found:

- This happened at 6:45am

- After going down 12th they turned on 1st ave and headed towards College Manor / or the 3 frats on 2nd

- Below are some still images of them, better video is being sent and are waiting for video from some other near buildings

- It is 3 college aged white males, all wearing flip flops and sweatshirts

- The police are involved but we would rather just get the stuff back no questions asked and we will pay a reward for returning it

HELP PLEASE. My daughter’s Lyft driver drove off with her tan Away bag yesterday [10/18/26], then dropped it off without any notice in the middle of the night outside Sweetwater. Around 5 AM, a homeless man began going through it and took some items, but he came back and left a note. Shortly after, two college-age kids walked past (probably coming from McDonald’s) and were given the suitcase, or took it, from him.

Her belongings are important, but what matters most is her baby blanket, which was in the bag. It’s very meaningful to her and of no value to anyone else. Her name is on the bag, along with an American Airlines tag that also has her name.

We will gladly pay for the inconvenience of returning the blanket, no questions asked. We should have video or stills of the events soon, but wanted to get this out there in case anyone saw anything.

Classes Anatomy Advice? (Apk2100)

I've been looking for advice on how to do better in this class and everyone I've seen has said they did bad on the exams but still ended with an A. I've projected my score and the highest I can get is a B. Did anyone actually do mediocre in this class or am I just stupid? Does anyone have any advice on how to finish this class strong despite that :/?

Classes Honorlock Side Camera Disconnected Me 7 Times During My Exam, Am I Cooked? MAR3025

Honestly, I'm very afraid that my test might be invalidated due to an error on Honorlock or eduroam's part, but I doubt it's the latter.

I checked for connection strength and eduroam was working just fine. I also had an exam on Honorlock YESTERDAY and also another Honorlock Quiz check just a few hours prior, but for some reason it started bugging on me. I honestly do not know why my phone (which I use as a side camera) keeps disconnecting, and whenever I try to scan the QR code again the program just freezes and I have to relaunch the entire window again 😭

I'm rightfully pised because I believe I did really well this time, but at this point as long as I get to retake the exam in person and not be invalidated without a second chance, I'd be happy with that.

Update: Grades are out, I got a 51/56 but it could go either way, since Dr. Cooke did address that there were a lot more technical issues reported today.

Grades MAR 3023 Exams

Am I dumb or something? I can’t seem to find a way to do well on these exams? I spent the last 4 days reading nonstop for exam 2, transcribing the book, listening to the lectures… I really don’t know what else to do. I have never felt this useless and every study technique seems futile. It genuinely feels imposible to me to do well on these exams

Housing Grad Student Looking for Roommate

Hi everyone! I’m looking for 1 roommate (any gender) for the 2027-28 academic year. I’m 27m, so I’m ideally looking for someone around my age. I’m a PhD student at UF, and I’d like to live with other graduate students or professionals next year. I like to think I’m pretty clean and tidy, and am hopefully looking for a roommate that is also tidy. As for places, my budget is to stay under $2k total (1k each). I’d like to live walking/biking distance from UF/downtown. I would need any place we find to be pet friendly, as I do have a dog (he’s about ~30lbs, and lazy, but very cute and kind). In my free time, I enjoy rock climbing, going to the movies (I’m a bit of a cinephile), and making/drinking coffee. Please dm if you’re interested.

Graduation Will I still receive my stipend as a research assistant after defending my thesis?

Hi fellow Gators!

I’m an international master’s student at UF and a Research Assistant in the Engineering Dept.

My I-20 lists my expected program completion date as December 1, 2027 (fake date), while the thesis submission deadline is October 1, 2027.

My question is: If I submit my thesis by the October deadline, will I still be considered an enrolled student and continue receiving my regular assistantship stipend until December 1? Or will my assistantship and stipend end once I submit my thesis?

Has anyone been in a similar situation or know how this works at UF, especially for international graduate students?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Social Anyone up for a random jam session at Plaza of the Americas?

Hey Gators!

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in having a random, casual jamming session at Plaza of the Americas sometime!

I’m an Indian student at UF, and I can bring my guitar. We could hang out, play some music, and have a chill time together. I’d love to jam over some Bollywood songs, other Indian music, or honestly, anything people feel like playing!

You don’t have to be a professional musician or anything. If you sing, play an instrument, know a few songs, or just enjoy listening to music, you’re more than welcome to join.

The idea is to pick a day when a few people are free, meet up at the Plaza, and just go with the flow. No pressure, no formal plans, just good music and good company. :)

Would anyone be interested? Drop a comment or DM me, and we can figure out a day that works for everyone!
