If Empower is available in your market drive it. I can not stress this enough.

I drove collectively about 15k rides between Uber and Lyft. After getting kicked off both platforms for fake complaints, pay attention to the number of rides I completed before you say I did something to deserve it, I had enough of being used/abused and controlled by a tyrannical toxic corporation for pennies on the dollar.

Empower came to my market and when I tell you the difference is nght and day, Empower is exactly the way rideshare should be.

You get 100% of your customers payment, pay a small monthly driver subscription fee, there are no metrics, and they don't respond to bullshit rider complaints without real actual proof something criminal actually happened.

Uber and Lyft are scum bag corporations using you, using your car, to proift. Greedy fucks that still think they control the transporition market.

Too bad for them Waymo, Tesla Cybercab, and Empower are changing that fast in some markets and soon many more.

You can trash Empower all you want, talk about how its illegal, talk about how they don't provide insurance, tell me how it wont exist tomorrow, but the two month hyper growth in my market proves it will stand and shows that no one gives a fuck about insurance because riders and drivers are both tired of being robbed. Empower has been operating since about 2020 and was originally founded in 2019. They continue to expand regardless of what you or government thinks just as Uber and Lyft did when they emerged.

They are new and n my market since July 1 and I have made well over 9k driving 1/2 the time. Riders have saved a fortune often costing them 30% to 40% less while I still earn more.

It may not be perfect but weighed against Uber/Lyft, it makes you guys look like welfare workers seriously in almost all your markets with rare exception.

Etiquette when rider have luggages

Dear Uber driver, I want your take.

I have noticed that lately everytime I travel with luggages (I take 4-6 plane each month) the uber driver do not get out of his car to offer help with loading the luggage in the trunk. At best they open it and wait at worse (if its an old car) I even have to figure it out how to open their trunk.

It was NEVER the case in the past and it happened to me about 80% of my rides over the last month.

I feel offering help to charge the luggage in the trunk is just normal and polite in particular as a first interaction. Also from a safety perspective I am always scared the driver will just drive away when my luggage are in the trunk and I have to go sit.

For me when this happens I give an immediate bad rating to the fare and I will not tip. Am I too demanding? What is the deal with the service nowadays…

Nb: I understand some driver might not be in good shape to carry heavy item or what and I am perfectly fine but at least coming out and asking my help.. and I doubt this is 80% of my drivers.

‘Maintain the premium experience.’

Do you know how many riders compliment me on how nice my car is, is clean or smells good? Because other drivers have shit cars and leave them in crap condition.

Not to mention, even Comfort rides are offered at MAYBE 10 cents more than X here lately. It’s an utter insult.

I made $50 buck through Uber last weekend after declining over and over fare that were no more than .50 cents per mile.

Meanwhile, I made $410 on LYFT and rarely have to decline.

Just sucks LYFT can be super slow and not offer anything so I run freaking Uber. Ugh.

But yeah.

Not to mention the hike in prices has lead to almost ZERO tips. I got $4 tips out of all that. And $10 the week before.

I used to make WAYYYY more tips and I didn’t change my behavior in anyway.

America is so burned out on everything asking for tips, especially from jobs that don’t rely of fucking tips.

Sigh.

Edit: Honestly, I don’t even fucking care that much about Comfort itself anymore. Uber is garbage, and Comfort fares lately pay next to NOTHING more than UberX anyway.

What I find ridiculous is that apparently you can’t even complain about a shitty decision made by a multibillion-dollar company without everybody and their goddamn grandma crawling out of the woodwork to defend it.

I wasn’t asking for anyone’s approval of my vehicle, nor was I claiming it’s some luxury car. I was complaining about Uber removing eligibility earlier than expected (previously stated in guidelines).

That’s it.

Jesus Christ. Anonymity really does make people bold. 🙄

Edit2: and for fuck sakes. Ubers website LITERALLY FUCKING LIST MY MAKE AND MODEL ELIGIBLE FROM 2020 and newer!!

So will you fucktards stop trying to tell me I am WRONG and that it has always been this way or it’s in the TOS.

BULLSHIT. I know what it fucking says!

Uber Giving Passengers More Opportunities to Lower Rating NSFW

Post image
2 Upvotes

I had to take an Uber recently and normal take them 4 to 5 times a year. This is new I haven't seen this until recently that, Uber are giving passengers more reasons to lower your rating. I guess they are doing this for psychological reasons, because most drivers care about their ratings. It takes 500 rated rides for one bad to fall off. Its away to keep drivers on the road longer.

So make sure to keep your car fresh. Ask the passenger is the temperature okay and your car is clean. Also I did tip the driver.

These passengers are out of control!!!!

I live in New Orleans, we’re 5 miles over the speed limit is allowed. I did that and was reported for “driving too fast” so I started doing the speed limit and guess what folks, now I got flagged for driving “too slow” between Uber and Lyft, they have some deactivating to do of these accounts that make false reports to get free rides. Absolutely ridiculous!! You’re messing with other people’s livelihoods! We deserve better.

I got hit by someone not paying attention and now I cannot drive

the title says a majority of it. I got rear ended by a person, I am assuming on her phone or simply not paying attention. Because of her mistake Uber has deactivated, not my account but my car. Have they offered a rental? Yes for me to pay for when I am already behind on bills. The concern is if I have exposed plastic, which I do not, a customer can get snagged on it and hurt themselves. So someone does something stupid to me and I suffer. This is ridiculous and now I am completely screwed.

I had 2 very uncomfortable male passengers yesterday

This might get a lil long.
I’m a leftist woman living in south Mississippi, and I have bumper stickers about ice and trump/epstein. I go to pick this man up at the airport, he goes to put his suitcase in the trunk, and then he starts walking towards the drivers side, so I roll my window down and he’s like “I refuse to get in your car bc of your stickers.” And I kinda laughed and just said okay and then he yells “FUCK YOU”. It definitely shook me up and I got a lil scared bc im scared of white men, even though I’m also a white, but nothing else happened.
I thought about taking a break, but I had just lost out on $30, so I took the next trip, and it was another man so I was anxious af. But he ended up loving my stickers, so I told him about what happened with the other man, and we talked about politics and religion, but he started making me really uncomfortable. He was saying stuff like he wanted to give me a hug and a forehead kiss, I needed a man who worked as a bodyguard to protect me, he was asking what dating was like with my politics, he was complimenting my style (I was wearing shorts and a black hoodie), and he said some other uncomfortable and weird/creepy things. When I got to the drop off, he started talking about taking me to a gun range and wanting my number, even though I had mentioned that I was talking to someone when he first got flirty. I guess I should’ve said I was married. So, I gave him my phone to call himself bc I know not to turn a man down to his face, and it took everything in me to not go home and cry. I have so much trauma from my ex, and being around men is already hard for me. I wish I could afford to not pick them up, but most passengers are men. I don’t understand why they have to be so disappointing.
I just needed to talk about what happened. It might not sound like a big deal, but I don’t think I should have to be wondering “what is this man capable of” while I’m driving them somewhere.

What happened to the gas station/gas prices and restroom locators?

I go in to find the nearest cheap station and it’s gone. If you type in gas station, it gives you places with gas station in the name!

Best practices / tips?

Hi I have been ubering about 200 trips so far and was wondering yalls best tips and practices to maximize money? Things I've read recently like filtering riding ratings and also going offline every trip instead of accepting new ones that pop as I am currently on a trip have me curious.

I drive a 2023 Tesla model 3 premium, can I filter only getting comfort electric trips somehow?

Thank you

How is doing Uber with a Tesla?

I get like 600 miles range in my Prius and tempted to buy a Tesla as my next car for multiple reasons. Do you have range problems at all? How many miles on your car?

Uber offered this bonus for doing 80 rides over the weekend which is doable but wild. The lowest one was 30 trips for +$100 and +10 trips for +$50 which is what I'll be doing. What would you guys do??

Comfort Rides option suddenly gone

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Ever since I’ve been driving for Uber (3+ years now), I have been eligible for comfort rides, and the option has been displayed in the work hub. Today, it randomly vanished. Nothing whatsoever about me, my car, or my eligibility has changed - car is eligible, rating is 4.96, [insert every other eligibility requirement here] also satisfied.

Contacted support, they of course just gave an answer that appears as though they’re just making it up as they go when they really have no idea why it isn’t showing up.

Curious to know if this has happened to anyone else recently.
