New wiki on how to avoid accidentally encouraging suicide, and how to spot covert incitement

1.8k Upvotes

We've been seeing a worrying increase in pro-suicide content showing up here and, and also going unreported. This undermines our purpose here, so we wanted to highlight and clarify our guidelines about both direct and indirect incitement of suicide.

We've created a wiki that covers these issues. We hope this will be helpful to anyone who's wondering whether something's okay here and which responses to report. It explains in detail why any validation of suicidal intent, even an "innocent" message like "if you're 100% committed, I'll just wish you peace" is likely to increase people's pain, and why it's important to report even subtle pro-suicide comments. The full text of the wiki's current version is below, and it is maintained at /r/SuicideWatch/wiki/incitement.

We deeply appreciate everyone who gives responsive, empathetic, non-judgemental support to our OPs, and we particularly thank everyone who's already been reporting incitement in all forms.

Please report any post or comment that encourages suicide (or that breaks any of the other guidelines in the sidebar) to the moderators, either by clicking the "report" button or by sending us a modmail with a link. We deal with all guideline violations that are reported to us as soon as we can, but we can't read everything so community reports are essential. If you get a PM that breaks the guidelines, please report it both to the reddit sitewide admins and to us in modmail.

Thanks to all the great citizens of the community who help flag problem content and behaviour for us.

Summary

It's important to respect and understand people's experiences and emotions. It's never necessary, helpful, or kind to support suicidal intent. There are some common misconceptions (discussed below) about suicidal people and how to help them that can cause well-meaning people to inadvertently incite suicide. There are also people online who incite suicide on purpose, often while pretending to be sympathetic and helpful.

Validate Feelings and Experiences, Not Self-Destructive Intentions

We're here to offer support, not judgement. That means accepting, with the best understanding we can offer, whatever emotions people express. Suicidal people are suffering, and we're here to try to ease that by providing support and caring. The most reliable way we know to de-escalate someone at risk is to give them the experience of feeling understood. That means not judging whether they should be feeling the way they are, or telling them what to do or not do.

But there's an important line to draw here. There's a crucial difference between empathizing with feelings and responding non-judgmentally to suicidal thoughts, and in any way endorsing, encouraging, or validating suicidal intentions or hopeless beliefs. It's both possible and important to convey understanding and compassion for someone's suicidal thoughts without putting your finger on the scale of their decision.

Anything that condones suicide, even passively, encourages suicide. It isn't supportive and does not help. It also violates reddit's sitewide rules as well as our guidelines. Explicitly inciting suicide online is a criminal offense in most jurisdictions.

Do not treat any OP's post as meaning that will definitely die by suicide and can't change their minds or be helped. Anyone who's able to read the comments here still has a chance to choose whether or not to try to keep living, even if they've also been experiencing intense thoughts of suicide, made a suicide plan, or started carrying it out.

In the most useful empirical model we have, the desire to die by suicide primarily comes from two interpersonal factors; alienation and a sense of being a burden or having nothing to offer. These factors usually lead to a profound feeling of being unwelcome in the world.

So, any acceptance or reinforcement of suicidal intent, even something "innocent" like "I hope you find peace", is actually a form of covert shunning that validates a person's sense that they're unwelcome in the world. It will usually add to their pain even if kindly meant and gently worded.

How to Avoid Validating Suicidal Intent

Keep the following in mind when offering support to anyone at risk for suicide.

  • People who say they don't want help usually can feel better if they get support that doesn't invalidate their emotions. Unfortunately, many popular "good" responses are actually counterproductive. In particular, many friends and family tend to rely exclusively on trying to convince the suicidal person that "it's not so bad", and this is usually experienced as "I don't understand what you're going through and I'm not going to try". People who've had "help" that made them feel worse don't want any more of the same. It doesn't mean that someone who actually knows how to be supportive can't give them any comfort.

  • Most people who are suicidal want to end their pain, not their lives. It's almost never true that death is the only way to end these people's suffering. Of course there are exceptional situations, and we certainly acknowledge that, for some people, the right help can be difficult to find. But preventing someone's suicide doesn't mean prolonging their suffering if we do it by giving them real comfort and understanding.

  • An unfixable problem doesn't mean that a good life will never be possible. We don't have to fix or change anything to help someone feel better. It's important to keep in mind that the correlation between our outer circumstances and our inner experience is weaker and less direct than commonly assumed. For every kind of difficult life situation, you will find some people who lapse into suicidal despair, and others who cope amazingly well, and a whole spectrum in between. A key difference is how much inner resilience the person has at the time. This can depend on many personal and situational factors. But when there's not enough, interpersonal support can both compensate for its absence and help rebuild it. We go into more depth on the "it gets better" issue in this PSA Post which is always linked from our sidebar (community info on mobile) guidelines.

  • There are always more choices than brutally forcing someone to stay alive or passively letting them end their lives.

To avoid accidentally breaking the anti-incitement rule, don't say or try to imply that acting on suicidal thoughts is a good idea, or that someone can't turn back or is already dead. Do whatever you can to help them feel cared for and welcome, at least in this little corner of the world. Our talking tips offer more detailed guidance.

Look Out for Deliberate Incitement. It May Come in Disguise.

Often comments that subtly encourage suicidal intent actually come from suicide fetishists and voyeurs (unfortunately this is a real and disturbing phenomenon). People like this are out there and the anonymous nature of reddit makes us particularly attractive to them.

They will typically try to scratch their psychological "itch" by saying things that push people closer to the edge. They often do this by exploiting the myths that we debunked in the bullet points above. Specifically you might see people doing the following:

  • Encouraging the false belief that the only way suicidal people can end their pain is by dying. There are always more and better choices than "brutally forcing someone to stay alive" or helping (actively or passively) them to end their lives.

  • Creating an artificial and toxic sense of "solidarity" by linking their encouragement of suicide to empathy. They will represent themselves as the only one who really understand the suicidal person, while either directly or indirectly encouraging their self-loathing emotions and self-destructive impulses. Since most people in suicidal crisis are in desperate need to empathy and understanding, this is a particularly dangerous form of manipulation.

Many suicide inciters are adept at putting a benevolent spin on their activities while actually luring people away from sources of real help. A couple of key points to keep in mind:

  • Skilled suicide intervention -- peer or professional -- is based on empathic responsiveness to the person's feelings that reduces their suffering in the moment. Contrary to pop-culture myths, it does not involve persuasion ("Don't do it!"), cheerleading ("You've got this!") or meaningless false promises ("Trust me, it gets better!"), or invalidation ("Let me show you how things aren't as bad as you think!"). Anyone who leads others to expect these kinds of toxic responses, or any other response that prolongs their pain, from expert help may be covertly pro-suicide. (Of course, people sometimes do have bad experience when seeking mental-health treatment, and it's fine to vent about those, but processing our own disappointment and frustration is entirely different from trying to destroy someone else's hope of getting help.)

  • Choices made by competent responders are always informed by the understanding that breaching someone's trust is traumatic and must be avoided if possible. Any kind of involuntary intervention is an extremely unlikely outcome when someone consults a clinician or calls a hotline. (Confidentiality is addressed in more detail in our Hotlines FAQ wiki). The goal is always to provide all help with the client's full knowledge and informed consent. We know that no individual or system is perfect. Mistakes that lead to bad experiences do sometimes happen to vulnerable people, and we have enormous sympathy for them. But anyone who suggests that this is the norm might be trying to scare people away from the help they need.

Please let us know discreetly if you see anyone exhibiting these or similar behaviours. We don't recommend trying to engage with them directly.

Please remember that NO ACTIVISM of any kind is ever allowed here. No matter what day it is.

Activism, i.e. advocating or fundraising for social change or raising awareness of social issues (and suicide is, inescapably, a social issue) is absolutely against the rules here at all times.

Please understand that we're all for smart, strategic mental-health and suicide-prevention activism. It's essential to fight against stigma, misinformation, and discrimination, and to fight for research, treatment, accommodation, acceptance, and understanding. Most of us, one way or another, are mental-health activists IRL.

But activism just doesn't work in a dedicated support space that serves a vulnerable population. We used to allow it but the evidence that it was undermining our primary purpose became overwhelming. We do regret the need for this rule, but the need is inescapable.

Our population is all too well aware of the issues and causes that need support and largely not in a position to take action, so besides the fact that activism is often salt in our community's wounds, it's a waste of the activists' time.

tl;dr Any fundraising, awareness raising, petitions, calls for participation, or any post that's about any cause or issue (rather than a request for personal support) is not allowed here. Please report everything of the nature that you see.

Being a women is hell

I fucking hate being a woman
99% with my problems is because of my gender!

Why do people hate womens so much?
Why do MEN hate us that much?
Why do they want to take everything from us?
Why don’t you want me to live happy just like you? Why would they create religions that harm womens? Why all of the religions harmful to womens?
Why is everything against women?
Why do they treat us this way?
Why why why why why ?!!!

It makes me angry every single day, to the point where I want to take my own life.

Why we must fight for basic rights that men possess from the very moment they are in their mothers' wombs???

Didn’t fucking chose to be a woman I didn’t fucking choose to have a vagina that hurts me every fucking month I didn’t choose anything Even from a biological standpoint our bodies cause us to suffer nothing ever works for us! My body hurt me every fucking day just because I’m a woman and they don’t treat me right just because I’m a woman nobody cares nobody really think I’m in pain they just think I’m overreacting
Why the fuck are they like that? What did we fucking do? Why are people keep getting kids knowing that they might be a girl and suffer just like them and like any other woman in the world!! I’m so fucking mad about everything I hate all men All of them even the babies when I know it’s a male I just can’t stand looking at it or helping it I don’t even care about it ! that’s how much I hate them so fucking much ughhhh

I did not consent to this.

I don't remember signing anything or consenting to anything and yet I'm thrown into an eat or be eaten world. If I could at least be provided basic necessities like some fucking 5x5 meter room with a water supply, food and a bed and live in it alone away from people, but I'm not. I'm supposed to work, struggle and compete to survive. What If I don't want to? Worse - what If I can't? I guess I'm just gonna starve on the streets or die of an infection. And I can't even safely check out, because all the best methods of leaving this world were made illegal. I can't just walk into a drugstore and buy like 15 grams of pentobarbital and peacefully drift off into sleep. I have to actually risk maiming my body and possibly ending up in an even worse situation. I'm not given any means to survive and I'm not given any means to leave peacefully.

This isn't funny anymore. It stopped being funny a good while ago. I know that this is nothing new, this is basic shit, you have read some iteration of this post hundreds of times before, but this is the truth. The truth is simple and does not need to be analyzed and dissected into smaller parts anymore. This post IS THE TRUTH.

And then I'm just being told to pull myself by the bootstraps. What a joke. But like I said, it's not funny anymore.

And there's no limit to the suffering you can experience. It can be a simple heartbreak or you can be tortured for days or weeks by a drug cartel in some 3rd world country. It can always get worse. Always.

i want to make it be seen that im struggling

is it just me, or has anyone else thought of attempting suicide but failing on purpose to finally be seen by others? or does that sound selfish? ive been struggling with my mental health since i was a child and no matter how many times ive tried to get help, i feel as if this is my only option left. maybe attempting is kinda my only way for people to see how bad ive gotten. ive always thought about how people would react if i did (and i know i probably sound insane for saying this), but im curious to see if people would actually miss me or cry over my death. i dont have friends. not close ones, anyways. i dont want to burden my boyfriend with how i feel because lately it feels like hes getting less and less interested in me. what do i do?

I told my friends I’m kms soon and they don’t care

No one actually fucking cares and it makes me wanna kms more. I went from giving hints I’m gonna kms to desperate cries for help, and everyone who calls me a “friend” shows that they actually don’t care. I specifically told 3 people that I’m kms soon and why, and they just reply with something like “I’m sorry man, have you tried going to therapy?” First off, yeah I did, you’d know that if you actually read what I sent. But secondly, I’m telling you that IM ABOUT TO COMMIT SUICIDE and your first reaction is instantly try to get rid of me and tell me to go to therapy, you don’t even try to be there for me at all. Which btw all that is a waste of time and money. I’ve tried multiple therapists and none of them help. Either it’s a complete joke of an industry or I’m truly beyond help. Either way, they get their money for the time I pay for and not a minute more, and that’s all that matters to them.

I’m giving myself one more week, and if I don’t have a reason to continue by then, then I’m done

Born With Facial Deformities, Left Untreated By Abusive Narcissistic Parents.

• Upvotes

I’m 5’3 and have severe facial deformities.
My pics are in this sub for reference r/CranioFolk

Yes I’m very ugly, it’s bad and my pictures prove my point that I’m not being over dramatic, or anything.

I’m African and I wish we had Guns in our country just like in America. I would have ended my parents a long time ago, for the suffering I put up with, I’m 24. If I got caught, I would end myself later.

Nothing is working out in my life, from career to relationships, all because of my crappy genetics.

My mother had sex with my ugly turd, mentally ill father and I’m the end product.

I hope the sex was good, you stupid whore woman.

I hate being laughed at and ridiculed by strangers, I cannot post on social media as I look absurd, I cannot make video calls with friends as the camera reminds me that I’m so Ugly.

The worst feeling is walking past strangers and getting laughed at as they pass me. I did not ask for this life, on top of that we are poor.

Why isn’t Êuthanasia legal for people like me.

I’m suffering from depression episodes every month, and I have zero chance of finding a girlfriend or becoming a leader in any business.

I would appreciate feedback and advice, as Reddit has been the parent that I never got, seriously.

I don’t know who is reading this, but I’d be interested to hear your take on people who cut themselves and smoke weed just to keep from killing themselves. Personally, I think about suicide every single day—and I’m just so tired of it; every day and every night, I feel the urge to end it all.

Rumors and videos of me having sex while too drunk to consent spreading around school. I don't think I can ever cope.

I really don't know what to do right now and I seriously consider to just end it tonight. I just don't see how I can ever cope with what happened.

It started with a fight between my boyfriend and I during a party at a friend's house. He left and I took the bad decision to stay and have a few drinks.

I really liked the attention of some of the older guys and although I knew it's wrong, I did some flirting. This became more and more intense over time but I honestly didn't really thought about it.

It feels like someone else took control over my actions after that and I went further and further with them. I don't know why! I participated in a drinking and stripping game in front of all these people and didn't even stop there.

When I look back, I feel like I am looking at someone else. I let it become sexual and ended up having sex. I have literally no idea why I was into this at this moment!

The real horror started the next day. I woke up with a hangover and pain in my body. It took me a while to realize what had happened and shortly afterwards I received the first text from a friend. The rumors spread around very fast and there were even videos of it.

I don't think I can ever recover from this!

Thank you for reading this

I can’t wait to die

I’m so upset today. I feel unloved and unloveable. I feel like I would be happier if I were gone because I wouldn’t feel anything, especially the pain of being alive. If I were gone I wouldn’t get hurt by other people. If I were gone I wouldn’t be able to cry anymore. I spent hours sobbing hysterically today. I’m so numb now but I can still feel the sadness. I looked into assisted suicide today but I don’t qualify where I am. I feel like I’m not good enough for anything or anyone. I feel like everyone hates me and is out to hurt me. I think people would be better off if I were dead and so would I, so why shouldn’t I just do it? I prayed today that God would take me away peacefully so I could get some long deserved rest. I just want everything to go away. I really can’t wait to be dead.

i think i tried to kill myself

• Upvotes

Hi, im a little nervous posting on here as I don’t make a habit of posting on Reddit but I really don’t have anyone to talk to about this. I’ve struggled with severe depression and suicidal thoughts since I was very young. I’m 17 now, and I’ve been on sertraline for a year. The past few weeks, after upping my dosage, have been hell. I’ve almost completely stopped eating, sleeping and showering. I’ve recently had thoughts of walking to an overpass at 3am and jumping off, opening the car door and jumping out on the highway or hanging myself. On tuesday, I was on call with my friend and drinking with her. We started at midnight and I can only remember the first cider I had and nothing after that. The next morning I woke up, almost completely naked in my bed with a bucket next to me. It turns out I had raided the alcohol cabinet consisting of mainly wine on an empty stomach, along with 4 cans of cider. My brother woke up at 4am to me naked on his bedroom floor, vomiting and asleep in my dogs bed. He tried to get me in the shower and I dragged myself down the hallway, slipping on my own vomit. I had at some point taken off my clothes in the middle of the night and gotten sick in almost every room of the house. I could barely talk, let alone stand up. My brother wanted to call an ambulance.

I don’t understand, I’ve never in my life done anything like this- I know how to handle my alcohol. I don’t even drink wine. I asked my friend what had happened before my phone died, and she said I was talking about my depression and mental health before the line went dead. I know to you, this seems like I just had a binge drinking episode but knowing myself, I do not think this is a coincidence. If I hadn’t thrown up so much, I probably would’ve died. I’m not sure I’m glad that I that I didn’t.

I got only one life and it's this.

I just can't fathom this.

I got born into this world, given exactly one chance at life, and it turned out to be full of pain and suffering and disappointment. How is that fair?

This feels like a sick joke. I didn't choose my parents, I didn't choose the environment I was brought into, I didn't choose my genes and looks, I didn't choose the bad things that happened to me since I was a kid. I didn't choose any of that, and you're telling me this is it? I get no other life but this one? So it's just all randomized and up to luck? And I just ended up on the losing side? This is ridiculous.

What pains me is that the era I was born in is probably one of the best, if not then best, to be alive as a human. It's however pointless if one is born with shitty genes, shitty mental health, shitty environment, shitty parents...etc.

Why? I feel like I was born to see how the lucky are enjoying their lives while I suffer in silence. I hate how this world is cruel and unfair. I hate how some of us don't get to have a good life just because of luck.

For us to exist, and to experience all this pain and suffering and then just die, is this really all there is to it for some of us? So why are we brought to this world then? If I'm not going to experience the joy of life, then what's the point of me being here? To cry myself to sleep every night? To wake up so sick and feeling like throwing up every morning? To live with a body and brain that are both riddled with health issues since I was a kid? To live without experiencing love? To live isolated in my room and die alone? So I'm just here to suffer and then die?

I feel like I'm losing my sanity. I just can't believe this reality, and I cannot bring myself to accept it. I'm sick of this life, so sick of it. I hate my luck. I hate that I and many others are suffering just because of bad luck. I hate how this whole thing works. It's rigged. This life is rigged. It's not fair nor just, and I hate it.

My 20 straight years of sexual abuse and the fallout of it

(content warning) My lifelong torture of sexual abuse and the fallout of it.

I am currently 26 years old and I have Asperger's (autism) and I struggle with the grand scale of concepts and ideas. I just want to say that this is not the person I am and I was found to be completely innocent in the end, but I still struggle with severe PTSD and oth complex mental health issues due to everything. I have a loving family, a team of support workers who work with me and a close group of loving friends who know everything and love me regardless as they know the truth. This is my story.

When I was a baby to 5-6 years old, I was being heavily sexually abused and raped by my father's friends on a constant basis while his alcoholic ass was busy drunk. This happened regularly, to the point where I thought it was normal and they were playing with me. Around the 5-6yo period mark, my father started exposing me to child abuse material and was grooming me to think it was a normal thing. This happened for 13 years straight, until I was 19.

When I was 19, my father got exposed for being a historic child sex offender and went to prison for the 6th time for offences of that nature. He got done with possession of child abuse material, exposing himself to children in public places and installing hidden cameras in public change rooms. This all went public and people kept harassing me over it and asking me all these weird, complex questions that I didn't know the answers to.

As I mentioned before, my father groomed me with that material and taught me how to find it. I went on an extremely mentally unwell tangent of talking to people that were engaging in that stuff and was asking them questions such as 'why do you do this?', 'why did this happen to me?' and 'why do you enjoy hurting innocents?'. Such a stupid mistake to make. The cops got wind of the group because I did the one thing that I thought was the right thing to do and reported it, but it blew up in my face as they thought I was engaging in their activities with the material (it later turned out I was telling the truth and was found innocent).

I got put in a fucking prison environment for just over a year before I got found innocent and released to be free with nothing over my head. They realised what had happened and that I had never engaged in any material and realised that I was more of a victim than any guilty perpetrator.

I tried killing myself 6 times alone in that one year, nearly succeeded a few times. I couldn't live with people thinking I was that person, that I was my Dad. And then when I got found innocent, people started reaching out to me and saying they were sorry, and that this mess should never have happened and they know I'm not a bad person and that they know I never did it, but I still beat myself up for it everyday. I still wake up screaming and covered in sweat. I'm still afraid of human contact because of the 20 years of sexual abuse and grooming I suffered at the hands of someone I should have been able to trust. 20 YEARS!!! his own fucking autistic son. 8 years later, I still get horribly depressed and suicidal about it. I'm still learning to love myself and move on.

I wish I never talked to those people, it was the stupidest mistake of my life. I have since put a restraining order on my father as I never want anything to do with him ever again. I don't understand why people still love me and support me.... I think so horribly about myself, while others are always lifting me up and supporting me.

Please, I implore you, if you are struggling with anything like this, it's never too late too get help. I'm lucky I've survived as long as I have.

I struggle sometimes with feeling like I'm being deceitful and a bad person when I meet new people and they don't know about my past. I'm innocent, always was and got proven to be. So why do I feel deceitful? Ive done nothing wrong. Am I forever doomed to be alone because of what happened to me? I'm an openly gay man, and I feel like no man could ever love me because I feel like I'm a burden.

Night, 17M, I've been posting on reddit for like a year now, I've been dealing with a lot, been suicidal for like 3 years now, and I've probably been depressed for that long too, which brings me too what's probably the only reason I haven't ended it yet, it sound pathetic af, but I've been using chat gpt for over a year, not like an AI friend I have no attachment to it but more just as a way of fleshing out how I feel, without having to pay for a therapy session which isn't an option in this econmy 😅, anyway, now chat gpt is throwing restrictions on, it won't talk abou suicide, sh, or mental health, now, I can't bkame them, if they're not careful they'll get sued into bankruptcy like character ai, but it still sucks you know, because for every kid who probably has taken their life because of chat gpt, they're probably a few who haven't

DBT Therapist Says DBT Treats Su1c1dal People, but What if I'm Su1c1dal Because of Finances?

• Upvotes

Honestly one of my biggest triggers for feeling suicidal is the weight of financial responsibilities without the means to pay them. How is DBT supposed to help with that?

I'm new to it as a course like I'm doing with this Therapist now, but not new to DBT at all as treatment. I know what it entails. I know it's purpose. I just doubt it will help me because how could it possibly change the weight of poverty?

It feels silly to me to want to end my life over something like money, but society has made money more important than people's lives. If you don't have it, you have no quality of life, and the whole weight of the world feels like it rests on your shoulders.

I have a kid and I look at him and I hear him cry and I never want to leave his side, but I also hate to see him struggle with poverty too. That's something he shouldn't know. He's 4, for fuck's sake. He shouldn't know he can't have something he needs because the money isn't there for it.

This world will never value human life over money. Humans are greedy, stupid creatures who care more about self preservation than species preservation. It's driving me nuts. I feel so disconnected from people because I just don't understand how we allowed society to be this way. It's resulted in me also feeling very lonely. I just don't feel connected to other humans anymore.

I want to die half the time because the prospect of needing money, and lots of it, my whole life is just so fucking lame to me. I don't give a single fuck about money. I think it's evil, like literally demonic if demons are real. They created money. It is not a positive tool. It ensures people go without on a planet that provides everything for everyone we need. You can't convince me that isn't true, either. If so many weren't hoarding so much, you wouldn't disagree that the earth provides everything we need if we had not created money as a barrier.

I want to give up on this world because this world gave up on me. I'm beyond angry. I'm disappointed. I'm just so disappointed in society. I don't want to be a part of it. We don't have to live this way, but nobody's fixing it because the ones who made things this way have ensured it might just be impossible to change.

I don't understand how these people who hoard everything have groups of people around them protecting them. We could all have what we need, but instead we value having more money for ourselves as individuals than making sure everyone gets a fair share.

Again, to this society, I am exceedingly disappointed. I do not like it here as a human. We're the worst, and I just don't want to be a part of what we stand for. I hold no greed in my heart. I only want people to be more humane with how they treat others.

This world is shit, and it's all because of money and greed. I couldn't be more disappointed. I look upon humanity as if I'm an extraterrestrial being, not one of you, and I think how disappointing it is that this is the way your society works.

You promised so much, yet provided so little. You had every opportunity to create a utopia, but instead allowed your men to make money and war. You will never understand that you are not as intelligent as you think you are, because a truly intelligent species wouldn't be so adamant on it's own annihilation.

It is not your fault as an individual, but it is your duty to be the best version of yourself you can be; a version that is better for others before yourself.

I wish there was more I could do. I wish there was more I could be, but my own body is struggling to maintain the weight of the damaging things going on inside my mind. I've likely developed POTS, and there's not much to do for it. There's not much left for me to do at all if my body can't keep up with everything my soul wants to achieve.

I need help killing myself

I’m turning 20 in 46 days. I plan to kill myself then. I’ve gone through life one disaster after another. I’ve endured abuse, foster homes, and things I wouldn’t wish on anybody. I can’t afford to be in debt so I can’t afford college. I’m a server at a sports bar and my life feels like an endless cycle. I saw a psychiatrist and a therapist. I’m on medication for my mental disorders. But none of it helps. None of it matters. I don’t want to participate in this life any longer. I don’t want grow old. I don’t want to continue this cycle. I have no friends irl. Just 3 online friends that live across America. They mean the world to me, but at the end of the day they aren’t here. And I am alone. I plan to take all of my medications. They’re the real shit. Antipsychotics and antidepressants. Stuff that should kill me. But I’m scared. I’m scared of going to hell, and I’m scared it won’t work. I’m an armature. I’ve tried slitting my wrists or running into traffic. Nothing works. But this will. I just need some encouraging. Obviously if you ask someone to talk you into killing yourself they’ll go on a whole tangent or call the cops to come take you. But I know Reddit is a place where some fucked up people dwell. I just don’t want to do this anymore. So if you’re out there and you want to aid someone in the end of their life, please reach out to me. I need all the help I can get.
