A friendās elderly sister is selling her husbandās 2015 Forester. It has not been run in 2 years, battery is dead, donāt know the mileage and donāt know any details on its condition.
So far, I suspect it needs tires, an oil change, fresh gas, a battery, brake fluid change, possibly differentials and CVT fluid changes, maybe spark plugs.
Anything else that needs to be considered sitting this long?
The price mentioned is $5000. With all those issues, Iām thinking $3000. Feedback?

I bought this car in Aug 2018 for around 27000$. This year I've spent close to 3000$ for a A/C Evaporator Leak Fix and a wheel bearing hub/assembly fix this is the highest amount I've spent on the car. Diff and CVT Fluid changed every 30K miles. Doesn't burn oil or has any leaks. My only concern is with CVT going forward. I drive it to work and back about 45 miles every day 4 days a week. I want to keep it for another 5-10 years. People with a 2018 2.5i premium would you suggest keeping it or trading it for a newer model. Please advise Thanks!

Hey folks - I finally got around to getting reversing the start-stop function to be OFF upon start-up. I'm sure you might have already heard about the dongle that you can buy off amazon but I wasn't quite sure how to install the device.
I've seen some not so great guides out there so I figured I would take some pictures in case anyone looks for this in the future.
Full Album here.
Step 1: Order the device - link to the one I bought here. This one is a little more expensive than other options but I went for a well rated one. Feel free to get one of your choice.
Step 2: Locate the button on the left hand side control panel - picture.
Step 3: Open the relay compartment just below the control panel. The cover can be removed without the need for any tools - it is clipped on.
Step 4: You will need to disconnect the connector for the auto-start stop button. The connector has a press-clip at the bottom, so do not pull the connector out.
Step 5: Plug in the connector into the override device and then plug the male connector back into the button. Should look like this. Ensure you hear the click of the plug into the connector.
Step 6: Turn the car on and test - the A-symbol with the circle around it will appear in orange.
Step 7: If everything is working fine - place the device into the compartment - mine did not need to be secured as it is a small device.
Done!
There is no need to remove any panels to get access, as I have seen in other guides online.
Ask away if there is anything I might have missed. Apologies for some blurry pictures.

My new Subie 2 I looked everywhere to find the black roof color combo I wanted. Traded in my perfect 19 Subaru 66,000 miles perfect condition they gave me $16,500 trade in. Meet my 26 Hybrid.

I brought my car in for the 90k service and when I opened the hood, the intake fasteners for one side were missing. I donāt know the official name. Does Subaru remove these for a 90 k service? The service before this, the red battery terminal cover was off the side.
Anyway, does anyone know the part no. for fasteners?
I will not return to this dealer.

Hi,
I have a 2005 Subaru Impreza Wagon that was lifted 2ā by the previous owner with 2007 Subaru Forester Monroe Quickstruts (172425 and 172426) at the front. no issues or noise but one spring snapped.
I went ahead and ordered the exact same parts albeit part number 272425 and 272426. I believe the first number is a manufacturing year of which all now seem to be ā2ā now.
I installed them and both sides are clunking due to them topping out. The springs donāt seem to compress much with the weight of the car leading to topping out/clunking. as I compare them with the others I see that the new ones have a shorter strut and spring.
my questions are:
any help would be appreciated.

California just switch to the winter gasoline blend. My MPG is now constantly 35 mpg versus the summer blend was 32 MPG. I did a couple trips that where out of state. The out of state gas also gave better MPG. The only trouble was that driving 75 mph descreased the MPG.
Are you other California drivers have a similar experience?

I ended up with two Foresters. The 09 in the background has no engine and was a manual. The 11 in the foreground has an auto and less miles but a rough body. Is it worth swapping? Can the FB go into the old EJ? I would assume I'd need to swap ecm and tcm for it to work. Thanks

I have a 2021 Subaru Forester Premium. I have recently had my car jerking forward when accelerating, I feel like itās either between the 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd. I just got the transmission fluid changed and a software update at the Subaru dealership where I got my car back in 2021. Driving home that night and to work the next morning the car was fine. On the way home about 24 hours later it started again. I feel like Iām crazy when I say I feel like it only happens when the temperature outside is over 50 degrees. Not sure next steps or just call it a day and trade it in before it becomes a more expensive problem

I just swapped my front driveshafts on my forester to cheap aftermarket ones. Everything went great until i started the car. It vibrates in P, R and D. Not in N. I took it for a short spin and it drives good. But standing still it makes a noise and vibrates.
Why?!

I found a small local forest area with trails and wildlife and, more importantly, nobody else. Spending a few hours in nature was just what the doctor ordered on this beautiful fall day.

Been wanting to have a more rugged look. Downsized to a 17ā wheel, paired it with some falken wildpeak A/Ts.

After owning it for about 2 and half months now I'm planning to give this box an update. I know there are limits when focusing power out of an N/A Ej20 but I think I will prioritize suspension and brakes first. Any suggestion that you would recommend especially the suspensions. I want to have the same stance or a little bit higher but not looking like an SUV. The previous owner had it equipped with lowered springs. so low in fact it wouldn't fit my 2 finger inside the fender.

taking a road trip for christmas this year with the 2018 Forester. Looking at Car Carriers I was looking at thule from REI and noticed the costs are quite high. I looked on market place and there was no carriers within 300 miles. I was looking on the Subaru Website, and saw one of these 2018 Subaru Forester ThuleĀ® Cargo Carrier. Requires Crossbar Set - SOA567C040 | Subaru Parts Corp., Conway SCAny pros cons or advice? IF i decide to look at REI I have the bars that came with the subaru do I need to buy a separate kit?

Hey all. Just pulled over off the highway into a gas station and turned my car off.
My high temp gauge lit up on my dash, and my oil temp steadily kept climbing until over 250. I started hearing maybe a straining noise when I accelerated. Then all lights on dash came up. So I pulled over and turned my car off. I had been driving for maybe 10 minutes at this point.
Any advice or suggestions for what I should do right now/what this is? Is this the TCV? Iām 30 minutes from home
Edit: getting towed to my mechanics

Super annoying that while I'm driving with adaptive cruise control and my hands firmly on the wheel my '26 Forester Hybrid yells at me frequently. Does anyone else have this issue?

My family of three has outgrown our Subaru Impreza and we're looking at the 2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid. We want to be able to lug 3 mountain bikes on a hitch on the back. My head is spinning trying to confirm whether we can manage this with the Forester's tongue weight limit.
From what I (have been trying to) understand, it's ideal to haul no more than 10-15% of the tongue weight capacity, which for the Forester Hybrid is 1,500 lbs. Am I right that with 3 MTBs (assuming 30ish pounds each) and a hitch (another 30-40 lbs?) that this is totally doable? Am I misinterpreting anything? Appreciate guidanceāesp from anyone who has this sort of setup already. Thank you!

After straying from Subaru for my last two vehicles, I'm ready to rejoin the Subie Gang with a Forester. (I have previously owned a 2012 Impreza and a 2015 Impreza Hatchback). I recently relocated to a snowy region, and as an avid skier, I can't be convinced that there's a better AWD vehicle out there for getting to the mountains.
I'm debating between two new Foresters:
I'd love to hear any opinions from current owners - which trim level did you go with and are there any features you love or could live without? And if you've recently bought a similar Forester, I'm interested in how much I should try to negotiate down the price.
Planning to buy within the next week and very excited!

My car has been perfect until my husband drove it yesterday and now I keep being blasted by the radio every time I turn on my car and now I want to drive it off a cliff.
I listen to audiobooks through Android Auto and it usually connects automatically. I can't find ANY setting to fix this! Someone please help. I'm going insane and might kill my husband.
