ID Request- Location included Found this gorgeous lady in my doorframe (east WA), what is she?
She was bigger than a normal widow, and also did not have the red mark on the bottom of her abdomen. I was thinking maybe false widow? Let me know what you think!
She has been safely released into my flower bed.

ID Request- Location included What kind of spider is this? (Boise, Idaho - USA)
I was walking my dogs in my neighborhood when I saw this spider running down the sidewalk towards me (i have a video too but the pics seemed better for this). This is on a sidewalk in my neighborhood next to an undeveloped plot of land where everyone lets their dogs go to the bathroom. Is this a black widow?! Why the heck was it running towards me? What would happen if one of my dogs got bit (medium/large dogs-german shepherd & a border collie)? should i not let my dogs go to the bathroom in this area anymore?? Sorry if these are stupid/crazy questions lol i honestly think spiders are so beautiful and cool but they also really scare me.

Just sharing 🕷️ Found my first black widow in my new house after living here for over a year. Thought she was cool, therefore I had to share with people who'd appreciate her.
And in the spooky month too. At least I think she's a black widow. Unfortunately I couldn't get a good view/pic or her belly because of the mesh she's on. I caught a few flashes of red though, and I know they're around here.
Honestly probably not the best pic of her back either, but I like the silhouette anyway. I mostly just wanted to share because I was irrationally happy. At least after the initial surprise of turning on a light then turning around straight into a spider.
I admired her for a minute and took a picture then turned the light back off and left. I probably gave her the real jumpscare. Oops.
Btw, the screen is to keep the cats out of the bunny room. I can't imagine the bunnies annoying a spider enough to get bit. The cats... they're not exactly the mightiest bug hunters. The most 3/4 of them do is follow a beetle occasionally sniffing. The youngest of the 4 might bop them. That could probably get her bit. It's still hard to imagine her finding a black widow crawling across the middle of the floor though. I hope. What do y'all think? I'd hate to have to try to get rid of my spider buddies, but my cats come first.
TLDR: I like my cool spider buddies but do you think they'd be dangerous to my cats?

Just sharing 🕷️ New skin: Olive camo spider
Found this guy harvesting olives with some other friends scurrying around off camera (location: Tuscany, Italy), if you look at the green olive on top the camo is perfect.

Discussion Do I keep this jumper or nah
Just found her in my room. Had a spare enclosure I was setting up for my praying mantis. I thought she looked hungry so I put a tiny mealworm in there and gave her some water. (I just got a male regal in the last month). Does she look young? Old? Hungry? Is it bad to keep?
IM IN MI :)

Just sharing 🕷️ Rescued from the bath
Recovering arachnophobe here! Thank you for all the spider posts in this group, they really do help.
(don't worry, the lid of the pot was on loosely not airtight - it was just so I could carry them outside to the buddleia in the front garden where their friends live)

Spider Appreciation 🕸️🕷️ Giant House Spider - London, U.K.
Was carefully clearing away some wood following some house renovation. We get quite a few false widows so I didn’t want to aimlessly grab a bundle without checking first. Gently moved a big piece of wood away from the fence and find this nice specimen and a previous moult.
Wondered why I haven’t seen any squirrels around 🤔

Spider Appreciation 🕸️🕷️ I just captured my first spider and released it outside.
I was in the kitchen doing the dishes when the little guy decided to make an appearance. I am very afraid of spiders. I'm trying not to be, but it has been a lifelong fear. I took a deep breath, and got a large cup out. I had to corner it a little bit, but he went into the cup, and I was able to release him outside into the grass. I just wanted to take a moment, and thank this sub so much for educating me on spiders, and helping me allay some my fears. I'm not gonna say I'm not still scared of them, but I felt a lot better getting him outside so he has a chance to survive, and find a home. I would have taken a picture, but I'll admit I didn't want him climbing out of the cup I don't think I'm ready for that yet, lol. Thank you guys for showing me a softer side to them.

ID Request- Location included Spider Wolf help please
Hi, I'm a french canadian from Québec so sorry if my english is not good.
I work in horticulture and today I had to took down some big flower pot because the winter is coming.
I REALLY LIKE spider so I try to let them be but the people I work with don't like them so today one of my collegue took down appart one the really big flower pot and destroyed this really big spider web who looked like a big fluffy blanquet with a funnel in it. And in it there was this really big beautiful spider but my collegue really don't like spider so she kicked it away and hurt her (one of her leg is missing). So I took her in because first we breaked her house for the winter, second we hurt her and last, I know it's "just" a spider but she really looked afraid ans I didn't want to let her to die because it's was our fault.
So at last I have experience with jumping spider as pet but I never had a Wolf Spider and I am not even sure she is a Wolf spider and if she is what kind of Wolf spider she his because I know it's not the same care for each species of Wolf spider. She's 4-5cm big.
For now I put her in a ancien terrarium of a dead jumping spider in with I put big place for her to go but I want to put her in a terrarium who is the best for her. So can people help me with finding what kind of species she his and what is the best for her please?
Thank you all for your help and to have take the time to read every thinks.

Discussion Advice - Tarantula Hawk Wasp Paralysis on Wolf Spider
My mom found a wasp dragging a big spider somewhere. At first she told herself that it's just nature, but my mom couldn't do it. She chased the wasp away and took the spider. It looked dead, but it was twitching. When I got the text I was in class. I reverse image searched and realized the spider was paralyzed. For those who don't know, tarantula hawk wasps paralyze big spiders and drag it to a den to lay one egg. The larva will wat the spider from the inside. Gross. Anyways the spider is currently in an empty fish tank. This spider might never fully recover due to the.. butt venom? Idk. Whatever you call the stuff in a wasp when it stings. Because of this, we want to give him a little enclosure. What should I do with the enclosure when it un-paralyzes itself? Right now I need to have it on paper towel just to see if any fluid is exceeded.

ID Request- Location included Anybody recognises this one (Belgium)?
When I look this up on the list of most common spiders in Belgium it most closely resembles the steatoda grossa but I see some clear differences from the pictures I’m able to find on Google.
For example, this one has a pointy body and its legs have an interchanging color pattern was well. Its proportions also seem te be different (thicker body to head ratio).
Thanks

Discussion Bringing in a wild spider during the winter?
I haven’t ever written a post anywhere on Reddit before but I really want to know what I can do to help a spider I have befriended.
Long story semi- short there is a crowned orbweaver (I have named her Kevin) that lives right outside my bedroom window and while recovering from surgery I have gotten very attached. I’d spend a good chunk of my day watching her build/adjust her web (it covers over half of the window), catch all kinds of bugs and generally get nice and fat living her best life.
At one point I brought her in for a couple days since my home was getting pressure washed, repainted and having wasps removed. I made sure to keep her as stress free as possible with a cozy temporary enclosure. I let her back out to her same spot and she got to rebuilding right away never leaving.
Now that it’s getting colder out and Washington’s rainy season is starting I want to make sure I do what I can to keep her safe.
Is it possible/fair to her if I make an enclosure and bring her inside until spring?
I’ve gotten attached and am wondering if it would be selfish of me to bring her inside until spring.

Discussion I need a warning sign
So, I have learned how to get spiders out of my bathtub. They are so dumb and keep going in there for the water… it is such a pain to get them out. How do I put up a warning sign on the edge of my bathtub to say “DO NOT ENTER, DANGER” is there some sort of chemical I can buy to put up that warning sign? Cause I am tired of every so often spiders getting stuck in there, and having to help them out of there and out of my house.
I assume they see the water (or smell) in the bathtub, and they keep falling for the trap in there. They cannot easily get out. Can I leave a water dish outside the bathtub for them? It hurts my heart that they get stuck in there, and it takes so long to get them out without hurting them.
How do I stop them from getting stuck in there?
I have been here before, they keep getting in that bathtub, I am getting slightly more used to the fast spiders… I need to find a way to keep them from going into the bathtub for water, and getting stuck. Maybe I can coat the edge of the tub in a chemical thst they know that says danger, stay away. I don’t know, I just want them to not get stuck anymore.
