Share your identification resources here

Hey all. We had a request from a community member for a thread where people can share the resources that they use for plant identification. In this case, we're talking about keys, field guides, etc. NOT apps or AI-based identifiers. Comments suggesting apps or AI will be removed.

Feel free to share your resources and include links if you want (just realize that Reddit doesn't play nice with some domains). It would also be a good idea to specify what region(s) are covered by your resource as it may not be as useful in places other than where it was intended to be used.

Bought this plant at the supermarket and it’s labelled as “Indoor Plant”

Originally I thought it might be a begonia but has runners. Hairy leaves with purple undersides, seems a bit temperamental but is growing ok outside in the shade in a hanging basket, any ideas??

The skin is rough similar to a pear. The flesh is white and also similar to a pear in graininess/texture but very sweet and tastes more like an apple. Is this a hybrid or something else? It was growing in a park and the tree looks like apple as well.

Found these fruits in a North Texas campsite. We believe they might be wild plums.

Are they? If they aren't, what could they be?

Unidentified 🤷‍♂️ Flower

My husband wanted a plant for his office. Found this on the side of the road, no idea what it is. Worried it might be poisonous for our cats so have kept it on a high shelf for now.

Brought it in and it has grown visibly in the last 24h after watering it. Yesterday afternoon it was a few inches from the shelf with no flowers, this morning there were flowers emerging that were touching the shelf so I moved it to give it more clearance, now its grown so much one stem is falling over.

Ive trying using Google lens on this plant and have gotten several different results like wild violets and wild ginger but it doesn't look violet-y to me. Trying to make sure it's nothing too troublesome. Ive been battling several invasives like garlic mustard and want to make sure i dont have to worry about this one.
