Found this spider chilling in my door sill. I’m curious to know the species and whether I should remove it, i.e., is it venomous to humans and/or dogs.

Location: SE Washington state, U.S.A.

I've been saying I'd like a jumping spider as a pet, but clearly I need more exposure to spiders as a whole. He got into my office from under the door and I just sat there at my desk, watching for any sudden movement 😂

I do feel bad, though. He wasn't hurting anyone and was likely just as on edge as I was. I still consider myself a friend to all spiders

This green lynx has been living in the same spot in my garden for months. Today I noticed she'd gone pink in her old age. I've never seen this color shift before, very very cool. Located in central Oklahoma

I do wonder what type of spider he is but I have no idea. Anyways, this is Larry. (Unless they're a girl then idk.) He lives in a large nest he's made on the windowsill of the utility room. He's pretty cool imo. If u need help identifying him then I'm in the North Eastern part of the UK.

ID Request- Location included Is this a jumper?

I'm in MN and recently took my potted hibiscus inside to overwinter. I've found 2 of these similar looking guys on it now, but they don't act like the jumpers I'm used to seeing. Their leg movements are more deliberate and less spazzy. They also have some criss crossed silk across the leaves they're perched on. The size is right, but that seems to be the only similarity that I've noticed.

Discussion When doing euthanasia, don't forger freezing is one of the worst options!

• Upvotes

I've seen here on reddit people recoment freezing very often when an animal is stuck in molt and has to be euthanized or other such instances.

And while it sounds nice and hands off, in humans, this is rated as one of the worst types of deaths.

And you mind think "well they aren't humans they freeze faster" or something of that sort.

But it can take 2 days for your spider to die in a home freezer (that's a long time for a little guy).

Of course chemical euthanasia can be harder to obtain, but if you can, you should look at some options. Ideally and easily (while not emotionally), you can crush them. This makes death fast and you don't have to worry about an animal growing ice spikes through its tissues for many hours before it finally succumbs to the damage.

Hi from the UK! A couple of weeks ago I noticed this lil lady setting up a really creative web in my back garden. She’s managed to get her web right in the centre of two plant pots and the string-lights that hang over the whole garden, it’s so amazing to see where she’s connected her web to keep her structure intact.

Her name is of course quite obvious, she’s got a big rump, impressively big to me at least.
I’ve grown really attached to her since she showed up, nearly every day she’s out there waiting for a good catch, I’m always so happy whenever she’s able to eat.
Do you think she might be holding eggs in there? Or are these type of garden spiders naturally big backed? Lemme know.

Got to share a park bench with this neat little guy today :) It only had seven legs, its web was a bit sparse or maybe unfinished, and it was about 4-ish inches long in total. Any ideas on what species it is? Thank you in advance!!

I lucked out, went to slip my shoes on real quick to throw out the trash. I stepped on the poor buddy but it seems to be doing ok. Wondering what it is? I can’t tell if it’s a wolf spider or a fishing spider. NE Pennsylvania.

Discussion Natural spider repellent that actually keeps them out of the house, does that exist

We're in a wooded area and spiders find their way in constantly, mostly through the garage and a couple of window frames that don't seal great. Not opposed to spraying something chemical but would rather try a natural option first since we have young kids running around the house barefoot most of the summer.

P.S : We love spiders and would never harm them, kids are somewhat intrigued but afraid at the same time,

Saw this cutie on a dumpster in my apartment complex. Can anyone here identify it? They recently trimmed all the trees so I suspect they destroyed it's home. All the leaves were close to the bins

ID Request- Location included AZ - Bathroom Friend

Pheonix area.

Incredibly docile spider living in my bathroom for the past few days now. I discovered it living in my loofah (which, it let me pick up and move around while it was still inside), but it later moved to the edge of the bathtub, and I had to try incredibly hard not to get it too wet while showering today, and it stayed completely still and calm. Was finally able to get a clear shot of it after. I can probably get a picture from a different angle if need be for ID, though he's very tiny, and I'm not sure how well my phone could capture his face, for example. I am very interested in just letting it live in my house to kill pests, as it's getting to the season where bugs like to shelter inside from the cold desert nights.

It is incredibly small, like probably half an inch or maybe even a bit less in size, not sure if juvenile or adult. I also have yet to find a web anywhere.

Should I just let him outside, or is my employment plan viable, lol?
