Dusting off some oldies...

Today, I have the LG Watch Style out of the drawer and am setting it up. Unfortunately, out of all the phones that I have, it will allow Google account copying from only one phone: Essential PH-1

I don't know what's going on with all the others phones, ranging from Android 8 to 17, why they fail to copy my Google account to the watch. But, the PH-1 has Android 10.

What can be expected from these 5-15$ smartwatches?

I would like to get one mainly to monitor my heart-rate / stress level. Sure some breathing exercise, waterproof and some other features could be nice but I found all these generic models for 5-15 bucks and maybe that would actually be enough for what I’m looking for? Do you have any slightly more expensive but clearly better options for that? Or saving up for a used Apple watch (found some for 50 on vinted) would actually be worth it?

(I am absolutely aware using these things can be counter intuitive for anxiety management but I never tried and I could clearly use some help identifying if I have social anxiety and in which situations precisely)

Thank you for your help

Currently have a Galaxy Watch 7, wanting an upgrade, what should I get

Alright so, right now I have my Galaxy Watch 7, and yeah it works, it does what it says, but I have some, REALLY big annoyances, and because of that I think I'm down for a new watch

1: Battery life, wondering if I can fit a sleep session before a charge is really annoying, battery life isn't predictable as of course, my life isn't a set pattern, and I can get like a day of usage, and I want more

2: Lag, yep, Samsung loves to do it, every new update is a new bug or stutter added to the list, and another quirk or annoyance that REALLY has NO reason to be there

And so, I'm looking for something new, my budget is around 100 bucks max, can stretch, here's some watches I have considered, prices, pros and cons and maybe y'all can name some other

Fitbit Charge 6 €88

Pros, Google Wallet, a pretty big pro for me, and it's the only watch on the list that supports it without a headache, but because of the cons, I guess ill just have to let that go

Cons, postage stamp screen, it's SUPER small, barely shows any data, and text scrolls more often than not, also not the best battery life and for the price you pay, it's clearly Google Tax

Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro €75

Pros, super small bezels, pretty good watch face support and a lot of people have them, also AFAIK you can install SOME custom apps and watch faces and elite battery life

Cons, no physical buttons, yeah that screen is cool and all, but a physical button can be a lifesaver, and it doesn't have that

Amazfit Bip Max €100

Pros, big screen, 2 physical buttons, standard 22mm lugs, no proprietary nonsense and inbuilt storage for anything your heart desired (probably runs Doom) and good battery life, just like Xiaomi, and I love the charger, since I can just use any USB c cable

Cons, maybe a little too big, but it's probably fine since I have a big wrist, the bezels are huge, although I probably won't have many white watch faces, they are still very big, and most watch faces can't edit their complications

If any of y'all have some other recommendations or what I should get, let me know down below, much appreciated :)

Your smartwatch suggestions

Hello y’all. I am an athlete and I am looking for a smartwatch to constantly monitor my health, running performance and my sleep. The constraint that I have is that i must stick to the Apple ecosystem.

So which one do you guys recommend? I am considering the Apple Watch SE (2nd Gen). I need something that has best value.

How far off is your watch's calorie burn on lifting days?

Watches estimate calorie burn mostly from heart rate, and that works best for steady cardio. Lifting is where it gets shaky. Heart rate jumps during a heavy set and drops during the rest, and gripping a bar while your wrist flexes is about the worst case for an optical sensor. So two watches can give you pretty different numbers for the same hour in the gym.

If you want to know how far off yours is, the weight trend is the honest check. Log what you eat for a few weeks, watch whether weight goes up, down or flat, and see if the watch's burn on lifting days makes sense against that. Runs and walks usually hold up better than strength sessions.

Curious what people actually see here. Which watch are you on, and do you trust its number on strength days or mostly ignore it?

I built a Wear OS alarm app around one simple idea: Walk to Wake Up

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a Wear OS alarm app called Walkup, and I just released the first version!

The idea is pretty simple: turning off an alarm doesn't necessarily mean you've actually gotten up.

Most alarm apps focus on making noise until you dismiss them. Walkup takes a different approach by making movement part of the waking-up experience.

The concept is simple: Walk to Wake Up.

This is my first release, so there's definitely room for improvement. I'd love to hear what you think, especially from people who use Wear OS and have struggled with getting out of bed after their alarm goes off.

I'd really appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or ideas for future updates. Thanks for checking it out!!!

Fitbit replacement?

I've been using a fitbit versa for years now, and loved it. It feels like google is moving away from supporting fitbit, so I'm considering if i should try something else?

Main things that are important to me are battery life (I can usually go a week without charging my fitbit) and sleep tracking. General fitness tracking is ideal but nothing crazy needed. I don't need to be able to call or text from the watch.

oh and iphone compatible( have had that issue in the past...)

thanks!

Q&A Anyone else want to go back to a normal watch?

Does anyone feel they want to go back to an analogue watch?

I'm just feeling tracking everything, it's becoming a bit tiresome. I prefer how an analogue watch looks.

I've been wearing a galaxy watch 7 for a couple of years now and I'm not that interested in it anymore

Apple Watch SE 3 vs Google Fitbit Air

Been looking at both of these for a while and hopefully I can get some insight from the people on this subreddit. The biggest thing that is stopping me from buying the Apple Watch is the battery life and I’m wondering if having that little battery life is really that much of a difference. Let me know your guys thoughts!

Is a smartwatch worth my use case? AI assistant with Voice + Step tracker

I'm wanting to track my steps and potentially distance while I run. I've also become very systematic in my life – tracking conversations with people, events in my calendar, time spent doing different activities. Currently I'm sending voice messages to Claude to check it off. I want to avoid using my phone too much for things like that so I'm thinking a smartwatch. It could also be good for listening to audio books?

I'd want an eSim version. I'm looking into Xiaomi Pro 2, it's about $200-$210 in Serbia, currently not in stock but likely to buy it

Any other reason to own a smartwatch?

First Smartwatch: Galaxy Watch 7 vs. Pixel Watch 4/3 vs. Amazfit Active Max

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m planning to buy my first smartwatch and would appreciate some advice from people with real-world experience.

My main use cases are daily wear and gym workouts. Battery life matters, but charging every 1–2 days is fine. My biggest priorities are long-term durability, reliability, a stylish design, and easily available replacement straps and service in Germany.

I currently use a Samsung S24 Ultra, so good phone integration is also important.

I’m considering these options:

- Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 (40 mm)

- Google Pixel Watch 4 (41 mm) or Pixel Watch 3

- Amazfit Active Max (around 44–46 mm)

For those who have owned these watches for a while, how have they held up in terms of durability, battery health, and everyday use? Which would you recommend for long-term ownership, especially with a Samsung phone?

I’d really appreciate your honest opinions, including any issues you’ve encountered. Thanks!

Torn between Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4

Hi everyone!

My husband's birthday is next month, and I want to upgrade his apple watch. I wanted to get him the newest watch, but am torn between a series 12 and an ultra 4.

Could everyone please give me their input, and explain why you would choose one watch over the other?

If it helps to know this, my husband wears his watch daily, and has an extremely physical job.

Thank you so much in advance! :)
