Just bitching Everything is shitty now
How do we all cope with the general r****ration of this moment? I find myself feeling so fucking embarrassed Iām alive during this time where it feels like everything is fake and shallow. When millions of people follow botched influencers and major publications cover them constantly and they seem to have so much power yet there is so much else to report on. Itās like how Bret Easton Ellis said absolutely nothing is better now than it was when he was younger. Idk Iām feeling especially depressed right now but it feels like everywhere I turn is shit: literature, film, fashion⦠you name it. Even basic things like milk or bread or furniture is more expensive and way worse than it used to be. When I go back and engage with classic literature or film or culture, im like oh my god the contemporary stuff Iāve been telling myself is good is nothing compared to this. Seriously how do you all deal with this ??????? Or is the problem ME?

We ādatedā for a month and then he ghosted me but one day on a date I had asked him his highlight and lowlight of the day. And he said his lowlight was lifting something kinda heavy at work and his highlight was having McDonaldās. Idk it makes me sad but also laugh a little?

How to actually fix deep seated self esteem issues
Does anyone have non generic advice. Iām in my mid-20s and looking back on all my issues in life thus far, I realize most would have been resolved if I had better self image and a crumb of self respect. I have hobbies that I like and actively practice, I have friends and family that love me and I love them, have never had a long term romantic relationship. I try to take care of myself physically, and Iāve come to the point where I know I am the only one I can rely on for true peace at the end of the day.
But there will always be a ticking self hatred and emptiness inside of me. I hate myself for being narcissistic in hating myself. I know my low self esteem is what inhibits me from having relationships. I feel the bodily self surveillance of womanhood eating me alive everyday. At the same time the advice people give for gaining self esteem makes me think of the absurdity of it all. To even think my physical vessel is important enough to be worth thinking about in a sea of transformative, non destructive energies. To think that if I work toward āself improvementā, Iāll suddenly resolve a feeling that seems embedded into my personhood.
Maybe it is inevitable Iāll be an eternal Morrissey listener.

Update on trying to seduce Morrissey impersonator
https://www.reddit.com/r/rs_x/comments/1x05fnb/doing_a_full_body_shave_for_the_smiths_tribute/
I showed up early so I could stand in the very front. Fake Morrissey was so hot. I am genuinely extremely sad to report that my full body shave was in vain. He did hold my hands and sing to me about six times, and I asked him to do Asleep and he did. He also personally handed me two flowers. At one point he ripped his shirt off and laid on the floor and looked into my eyes while he wriggled. I talked to him after the show and he was very cocky, really captured the energy of real Morrissey, and then blew me off. It was awesome. I need him so bad

I miss having someone to share my excitement with
Got out the longest term relationship Iāve been in a year or so ago, and the most common thing people told me was to enjoy being single, have your slut era, focus on yourself, not be in a relationship etc etc
Whilst I appreciate these statements it doesnāt change the desire to have someone that loves me for who I am, and to share my unbridled joy and excitement about things I find fascinating with.
Being single Iāve picked up woodworking, playing instruments and gigging. I worked on my mental health and my relationships, and I have progressed so much in the last year alone that Iām genuinely more proud of myself than I ever have been, and have been the happiest I have ever been in life.
But at the same time I wish I had someone to share this all with, and to be just excited for them and the things theyāre passionate about, and see them excel. I feel quite alone in my life despite all the lovely things going on.

We live in an age where every pervert is now a pervert with a camera
its so easy to photograph strangers in public and people dont even think about it, theyre used to it now. i hate being out knowing that wherever i go there's a chance i'll end up in someone's picture, or even worse their video!! Can't do anything about it so it's not worth stressing over.. but yuck

Noticing things What is something you are genuinely curious about / interested in learning?
Iāll go first: lately Iāve been obsessed with early Christianity and all the movements and sects that have been buried in time. I like listening to lectures when Iām washing dishes or running errands
need more girls at the party i'm co hosting
I help run a theatre troupe (i know, i know) with some friends from college and I've convinced them to host a party this month. I really like the venue and the poster I made is cute but I'm worried I will not be able to sway the vibe away from theatre kid (yes, i did bring this upon myself). Do y'all have any advice? I have a DJ, drag, tarot, & rocky horror + drinks of course.
Here's my poster! (Also, come party if you're free! It's on a monday so it doesn't clash with halloweekend plans)

I cannot justify hating pretty girls.
They try so hard to be beautiful. Its none stop. I've seen girls shed tears, dissociate, and be completely delusional... I'm talking 11/10 girls...
Their entire identities so meticulously curated. Nuanced and premeditated aura. Intense diets and strict routine... They run a tight ship. They know their value. They know (and push) their limits. They are their own brand. Innate managers and directors.
A lot of women will agree that being "pretty" is the hardest thing in the world, its not easy... You've got this image maintain. It's what sells.
I can't imagine putting in half the amount of work that they do... Therefore I cannot complain. They've earned it, and the social benefit.
I respect the graft.

InÄel Posting Centering self worth around men
This is embarrassing, but after leaving a long term relationship that lasted most of my 20s. My monkey brain has catapulted me back to the mindset of my 19y old self, and has left me completely obsessive over male attention.
I wonder all the time whether i am loveable or not, my attractiveness, how im perceived. I feel like its rotting my brain, but i keep returning to these thoughts, i will go out with my friends and have a fun night, but somehow feel like shit afterwards cause i feel like men arenāt paying attention to me.
I feel like obsessing like this also makes the actual chance of any romance impossible right? Like how you wont get something you want too much?Has anyone else worked though these loser feelings after a breakup???
