Hi all, we usually redirect selfies and fashion posts to other subreddits, but, for the next month or so, Halloween costumes are welcome here if the costume has a punk theme. Shout out to the kid who dressed up as Joey Ramone, we accept you.

All of their material is good, but their second album Haunted Cities is one of my favorites. I had the privilege of seeing these guys rip Warped Tour 2005 in their prime and it kicked ass 🤘🏻

DoA’s Talk-Action=0 came out in 2010. Just been re-listening to it, and it has songs attacking the Canadian government, the church, banks and the cops.
At the bottom of the CD’s booklet it thanks the Canadian government for financially supporting them. I know several countries offer grants in support of artists et al, but I’ve NEVER seen a punk band state they’ve been supported, especially given their subject matter.
Is this common in Canada?! If so 👍

my band Cat Crash is having our next NYC show on 2/6 at Trans-Pecos and you're invited! It is a show to celebrate both Cecil (bass+vocals) and Arun's (guitar+bg vox) birthdays, which are both in February! Arun is turning 21!
both our families are first-generation immigrants and we feel the need to fight the current administration and ICE by donating the proceeds from this show to National Immigrant Justice Center. NIJC defends the rights of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
we each chose some of our favorite local bands, including Don't Go Outside!, indie emo punk from CT, Rat Sauce, NJ riot grrrl, and Film & Gender, a two-piece bass+drum garage punk act inspired by hip hop from MA.
hope you can make it, and if you can't, tell a friend who's closer to NYC!!
The Nomads were from Texas City, Texas. Situations was recorded in 1968

Ok - here’s what I’m asking - Where the fuck did this come from and has anyone heard this insane boomer shit before?
I was talking to my dad on his weekly phone call. He likes some cool shit but far from ever being a punk in any sense. We talk about music sometimes and I mentioned MC5 and he very unexpectedly knew what I was talking about “Oh yeah Motor City 5!” I was really surprised he had even heard of them much less knowing the acronym and I swear to god he said “ oh yeah those guys started kiss a few years later”. WHERE DID HE HEAR THAT? Do people think this????? Have yall ever heard this insane boomer thing or do I need to worry about his mental state?
I swear this isn’t a troll post. I’m just floored by this thing he’s thought was a fact for decades.

I've been working on this project for a while now, basically it's a showcase of 50 rare/obscure punk and hardcore bands from each state. For states with established scenes, I tried to pick lesser known bands so the video wouldn't just be naming the most popular band from each state. Some states like Arkansas and North Dakota were really hard, as I wanted to keep the time frame to classic punk to first wave hardcore. I'd love to hear what you guys think.
Edit: I had to reupload as I forgot New Mexico

TDB is case only. Kinda dirty. Asking 35$ plus 5$ shipping.
The Eternal Cowboy is just the artwork book only. I’d do 25$ plus 5$ shipping on it obo :) trying to fund our trip to the basement show in Berkeley and need some gas money. Had both of these signed about 12-15 years ago at a record store signing. I still have my white crosses vinyl I got signed but im keeping it. Everything is obo! If you need more pics lmk! Thanks!

Does anybody have any recs for actual punk bands? Was in the scene for a bit, fell out of it for a bit, but I wanna get back into it. What I realized about a lot of the music I listened to was that it wasn't really punk. So, new bands, old bands, obscure, popular, any band who falls into the punk genre, and are legit.

Finally got a day off work so figured I’d just blast music and be a lazy piece of shit. Kicking it off with one of my favorite new bands. Just some good ol fun punk rock from down under.

I can remember the exact moment that I bought these on cassette tape in the late 80s. This was the foundation of my lifelong love with punk music, my Mt. Rushmore if you will. Feeling nostalgic, so I'm posting this for you all to read.
Misfits - Legacy Of Brutality: Paid $7.99 using saved lunch money at the age of 14. Bought it because the cover looked ominous. Asked my dad to let me run into the record store on our way home from helping someone move some furniture. Went home and put it on and didn't know what to think of it. A week later it was the soundtrack to the rest of my life.
Dead Kennedys - Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death: Bought at the same store as The Misfits about a month later. Recognized the DK logo from the back of Thrasher Magazine so bought it on a whim. Instantly blown away. Was this psychotic surf music? Jello's voice was so unique and it's still one of my favorite records ever.
D.R.I. - Dealing With It: I already liked some metal by the time I bought my first punk record. When I heard D.R.I.'s Crossover album, it was cool but I didn't love it. Then I bought Dealing With It and was drawn to how it blended those same influences in a cohesive way that was fast and fun. It captured the suburban teenager experience more than my other favorites.
Black Flag - Who's Got The 10 1/2?: My friend told me to buy this one if I wanted to get into Black Flag. And I really wanted to get to know them because that logo was everywhere. I still recommend this as an intro to the band this day. The record is energetic, well-produced, and features some of their best songs in my opinion. And it showed to me that punk can carry a serious message and still be a lot of fun.
So I'm an old guy now, but instead of buying a Ferrari I purchased a boombox and these 4 albums on CD. And I blast them constantly now. Because no matter what I drive or do for a living or what any of those other social markers try to define me as, I'm still a punk rock kid at heart.
Thanks for reading this.
