Recommendation The Diplomat | Season 4 | Best modern political drama ???

Post image
• Upvotes

Just finished the Season 4 finale of The Diplomat and I genuinely need emotional support. How are we supposed to wait for Season 5?!

That final five-minute sprint 🤌
Debora Cahn and the writers room wake up every morning and choose sheer narrative violence.

That final five minute sequence took an already fragile house of cards and dropped a bunker buster straight through the middle of it. Nobody captures the unglamorous panic of high-stakes statecraft like this show. Keri Russell playing sheer internal panic masked behind diplomatic protocol better than anyone on television.

Discussion East of Eden - Crazy, fascinating and I couldn't stop watching

A few thoughts:

Cathy - is a fucking psycho, she likes being mean and she's so manipulative, and for what? WHO is does she keep trying to fool? And with what? And what actually happened to her when she was 5 Did this make her crazy?

Adam - is so mean to Caleb, like you can see all he's doing is trying and has a really good business brain and his dad goes crazy?!?

Lee - what a lovely gentle man. I also thought it was really interesting to see a dad and a male nanny work together to raise the children, without any kind of mother figure, especially in the early 1900's.

Caleb - does he have his mother's 'bad' in him?Seems like more than anyone he's trying to be good and pleasing, but it's just not what his dad wants.

Aron - I like how complex he was and how he didn't want to just do what his dad wanted in the end

Charles - I'm kinda surprised he slept with Cathy, and were the boys his? I thought that would've come out properly or that Adam would've told Caleb on his death bed. And why did Cathy keep imagining him at then end? Was she in love with him?

EDIT - oh and why did Cathy leave everything to ‘her one and only son, Aron’? What about Caleb??

Discussion One Hundred Years of Solitude VS East of Eden

I finished reading One Hundred Years of Solitude (adored it!) the week the finale episode dropped on Netflix and then I binged it. It is simply sublime. One of the best book adaptations Ive ever seen. "The first of the line is tied to a tree and the last is being eaten by ants." Fucking chilling!

I finished reading East of Eden (also loved it) on Friday and binged the show this weekend. The casting was perfect, the acting was amazing. I liked it, but wasnt as enamored with it as I was with Solitude.

The books Solitude and Eden are about the same page length. Solitude on Netflix was 2 full seasons and Eden was only 1. I feel like had Eden been 2 seasons it would be on Solitudes level. They just omitted so much from Steinbeck's novel.

Again I didnt hate the East of Eden miniseries, just felt it couldve been better had it been longer.

Question Cathy Ames of East of Eden downward spiral.

As the story progresses, Cathy Ames, begins to experience visions. Are these visions the result of an STD (gonorrhea), her substance abuse, or her guilt? I have not read the book, and don’t know if they were part of the author’s story or not.

What Should I Watch? Shows and movies worth watching?

I'm subbing for 1 month to binge Edgerunners 2, anything else good on? I'm big into scifi, action, and fantasy, but I don't do romcoms, long running things that need lots of homework of other media, or soap operas.

I just finished the movie Dig and loved it. Especially the cast. What struck me was how English all of it felt. Any recommendations for tv or movies in this vein? I have already watched all seasons of the Crown and I watched Broadchurch fwiw

Meme searched for "larva" as a joke to see if it was just a fever dream, and why is some of the best animated content of all time popping up beneath it?

Post image

I'm sorry its just so funny to imagine a kid going from Larva to BoJack Horseman, Soy Frankelda or End of the F***ing World (i love all three)!! The House, Green Eggs and Ham, Samuel, Wendall and Wild & Spider-Verse are all great too, while Last Wish is my favourite animated movie!! Possibly the only thing worse than Larva, Watership Down (2018), also appears just to be safe

Discussion Les sous-titres générés par l’IA

Technical Support Getting locked out of my account when I change profiles

So my sister has an account on my Netflix that she uses only when she stays at my house. Her and her boyfriend have their own Netflix account that they use in their home.

It won't even let me open the profile anymore. Lol like I don't have access to a profile on my own account? Saying I need to connect an email to the profile? I have to full close and reset the app to have access to ANYTHING. It's my account I don't understand this?

Is this a bug or as intended? Even as an account holder I'm only allowed to use one profile?? What about guests?

Technical Support Error code D7703-1003-80072F8F in Netflix app on Windows PC

Hello all,

I am using the Netflix app on my Windows 11 pc. The last few weeks, any time I want to start any episode or movie it looks like it is loading, but then gives me error code D7703-1003-80072F8F. I cannot find anything about this error code online, and I don't know what to do. Has anyone here had issues with this error code before? And have you been able to fix it? If so, please share what you did, I am at a loss!

Discussion LEO Sequel

I don't like the fact that Adam Sandler's LEO is getting a sequel. The first movie made it clear the lizard's only got a year or so left to live, so where else is there to go in such a small time frame? Plus, Adam Sandler's other movie sequels are often worse than their predecessors, like Happy Gilmore or Hotel Transylvania. I don't want the same to happen to LEO.

Discussion The show From is scripted by AI

I saw rave reviews about this show and it being on Netflix now I started watching it yesterday.

There’s so many hallmark AI quotes like “that matters.”, “that’s not _____, it’s _____”, and “that’s ______ pretending to be _____”.

There’s also just like random things that don’t completely make sense that just feel AI written.

It’s a good show and I like it but the clearly AI wording just takes me out of it sometimes.

I never post on reddit but I need to know I’m not crazy.

Has anyone else noticed this?
