> The city’s daily water demand stands at around 4,600 MLD, while the BMC supplies approximately 4,100 MLD. Of this, an estimated 1,394 MLD is lost to leakages and theft.
> The BMC is also looking to accelerate the replacement of its ageing pipeline network. Civic officials said the current pace of replacing 60-70 km of pipelines annually accounts for barely one per cent of the network. The target is to raise this to 250-300 km a year, replacing around 5-6 per cent of the network annually.

Hey guys!
I’m taking my cat, Enzo, around Bandra for the first time today! 🥹 He absolutely loves sitting in my backpack and looking around at everything, so I thought it would be fun to take him out and explore a little.
For those of you who take your cats or pets outdoors, I’d love some recommendations and advice!
☕ Pet-friendly cafés: Any cafés in Bandra where I can chill with Enzo? Outdoor seating would be a bonus!
🐾 Places to explore: Any nice, pet-friendly spots where I can take him along?
🎒 Keeping him comfortable: What essentials should I carry, and how do you make sure your pets feel safe and relaxed while exploring?
🌞 Things to keep in mind: Anything I should know about the heat, traffic, crowds, or taking a cat out in Mumbai?
Enzo loves his backpack, but this is his first little adventure around Bandra, so I want to make sure he enjoys himself and stays comfortable throughout.
Would love to hear your recommendations, experiences, and any tips from fellow pet parents! ❤️
Thanks in advance!

As the title suggests, I am curious to know where does everyone prefer to go when you just want to sit back and exist.
The pace of the city gets a bit overwhelming for me. Its times like these I really like putting on my walking shoes and go take a long walk and end up somewhere:
As a result, this specific spot has become my go-to place in the city to just relax and breathe and feel like I am a part of the city again without feeling physically and mentally exhausted.
This place usually isn’t very crowded even on weekends and as much I would love to gatekeep it, I don’t mind sharing the location as long as I get similar recommendations back! I know hardcore Mumbaikars already have figured it out, but would to hear from all!

I moved to Bombay in 2008 as a very young and naive girl and have always felt safe in the city. I may have struggled with other things but I have never questioned my safety lately night in the autos and cabs. Which is why what happened right now has left me shaken and wondering what is happening to this city!
I got done watching a movie and booked an auto to get home. The distance between the theatre and my house is less so usually autos refuse to ply by the meter. While I was waiting an auto stopped and asked me to cancel the ride and take his auto instead. I wanted to get home sooner than later so I did that. As soon as I sat in the auto I regretted it because of how rashly he was driving. He was constantly trying to make conversation with me and it made me feel extremely awkward. I asked him to ride safely and I think that triggered him. In the most vulgar tone he started singing a made up song which essentially translates to “you suck mine and I will suck yours”. That was the moment I knew I had to get off the auto. We were reaching a signal and he was trying his best to cross it before it turned red. I reminded him to ride safely and that is when he again started saying in a vulgar tone “Jahan dikhta hai wahan daal deta hoon, abhi dikh raha hai mujhe mauka daalne ka” and kept staring at me lewdly through the rear view mirror.
I immediately spotted a well lit building with a crowd outside it, got off there and went into the building waiting for him to leave. I was still around 500m away from where I lived. He kept refusing passengers and waited for a while. The guards started asking me what was I doing there and when they understood my plight they kept an eye out. I left the building and walked down only after he left.
I have never ever felt this unsafe. In the rush to be safe I could not note the auto number but this happened in Andheri West from Infiniti mall towards Veera Desai. Girls, please be safe out there.

so basically my friend was going home on his bike (towards andheri) from vakola and he was on the Western express highway (agripada bus stop)
he had some verbal road argument with a guy named “Pappu bhai” - just near agripada bus stop parked on the left side of the highway - fortuner (illegally parked)
the fight - they had a small argument cuz the guy was parked on the left lane and blocking the highway and the fortuner guy opened the window and told him rudely to not honk even tho he was parked and blocking the highway
so they were having a verbal argument - and he slammed open the door on my friend’s bike and held his collar
and out of nowhere 3-4 people came and started beating him and he didn’t know there were so many guys. The 4 people also used something to attack his neck (something like a chain)
he got seriously injured and his nose got fractured, he was bleeding and everything so they beat him up bad
But he couldn’t remember the plate as he was bleeding but everyone else was calling that guy “Pappu bhai”
and the locals knew him too
and he had a fortuner so can anyone help with identifying that man? or his car’s number place? any local of vakola? please help with some info
I NEED INFO TO FILE FIR
the nearest police station was Vakola
they checked the cctv footage and it was blue (the number plate) so they couldn’t identify the number plate
but we can see the whole fight in the cctv footage
but they rejected to file a FIR because there’s no number plate but it’s their job to find that

This place stinks! In the heart of the city , Dadar near shov sena bhavan. There is a build up of trash! Bmc and people are both to be blamed, but when asked people to not throw their trash there, they will say tere baap ka kya ja raha hai

Mumbai’s food safety crackdown needs a public, searchable record. So I started building a public GitHub repository to bring these reports together in one place.
Over the past few months, Maharashtra’s FDA, under Tukaram Mundhe, has taken action against restaurants, bakeries, cloud kitchens, food delivery facilities and other food businesses over reported food safety violations.
📊 What the project tracks:
- Establishment names and locations
- Reported licence suspensions and cancellations
- Reported food safety violations
- Dates of regulatory action
- Links to published sources
- Updates when establishments reopen or their status changes
🎯 The goal: Make public information easier to find, verify, track and contribute to.
This is an evolving, community-maintained dataset—not an official government database. A suspension is not necessarily permanent, and every entry needs its source and status checked carefully.
I’d love contributions from developers, journalists, researchers, food safety professionals and Mumbai residents who want to help improve the data.
If you find a missing report, a duplicate entry or an outdated status, open an issue or submit a pull request.
Open data becomes more useful when people can verify it and build on it.

Mumbai has ranked as the fifth most polluted city in the world and the most polluted in India.

Let me be very clear first of all that I am not talking anything against about any kind of language, people, culture etc etc
It is very painful as an aware Marathi person who knows the current condition of my mother tongue especially in the cities.
Marathi is facing daily competition from Hindi and English not only Marathi but also other Indian non Hindi languages.
Governmental polices of education, three langauge formula, migration etc etc are all contributing towards the downfall of Marathi.
The modern GenZ and GenAlpha of Maharashtra especially in cities are using Hindi instead of Marathi
The lingua franca for conversation between these young population is Hinglish nowadays
I would like to ask all of you irrespective of whatever mother tongue you speak what do you think about the future of Marathi in Maharashtra

After finishing my studies, I started working, but I resigned after a few months because I realised that I wasn't interested in having a regular job. I do want to earn money and be financially independent, but I want to do something I genuinely enjoy.
So, my friend and I decided to start freelancing as makeup artists. We created an IG acc, posted our price list, and informed our friends. Some responded positively, while others didn't respond at all.
I've tried different ways to pr0mote our work, but I still haven't received a single booking. We're charging 9.5k for a bridal look, and honestly, I'm starting to feel discouraged.
I really want this to work out, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong or what else I should try. If anyone has experience starting a freelance makeup business in Mumbai, especially as a beginner, I'd really appreciate your advice.
How did you get your first client? What helped you build trust and attract bookings when you were just starting out?

Even having fun feels like work. more time is spent on planning, travelling, beating traffic and dealing with illiterate and uncivilised crowds than actually enjoying .
even a simple outing feels like a project with multiple dependencies.
P.S. I know people will say, “Just sit at home.” I’d happily do that, lekin zopadpattivaalyanna free flats dyayche aahet, mhanun building construction cha awaaz pan chalu aahe. Mumbai mein ghar pe bhi chain nahi hai!

M19, I’m planning to explore some shopping markets in Mumbai to buy clothes, especially good-quality jeans and some stylish outfits.
My budget is around ₹300–₹500 per item, so I’m looking for places where I can find decent quality at affordable prices and yeah I already explore a little bit of CSMT near the area and the FS market also but last time I bought a shirt and it was so bad 😔
Can you suggest some good markets or shops for:
Good-quality jeans
Stylish shirts, T-shirts, and other outfits
Reasonable prices without compromising too much on quality
I’m open to exploring local markets and lesser-known places too. Also, please share any tips on which markets or shops are worth visiting and which ones I should avoid.

So i graduated with a bms degree when I was 21 years old i belong to an upper middle class family so my plan was always to take a gap year and start working when i would turn 22 (start working in 2025 after taking a gap year). Things took a bad turn and due to my parents health issues and some failed business launches, i am sitting here jobless with no experience. How should I start my career and look for a job with no experience or extraordinary skills? I am already facing some horrible self confidence issues and having a dark period of time overall. Even if I get selected for a job interview how should I explain my gap year? And realistically how screwed up am I in order to make a comeback in life and be self financed?

Hi everyone,
I hope your Saturday morning is going well.
I recently shifted into a new flat, and unfortunately, since that flat was empty for a long time, pigeons had made the chimney area their home. However, despite me getting the chimney replaced and repainting the entire wall, as well as getting a round of pest control done (cockroaches in the kitchen), there is a new problem: a tick infestation due to the prolonged pigeon stay.
I need your help to remove all the ticks from my kitchen as i am getting a cat soon and its difficult for me to cook as well. Please let me know on how can remove them because wiping the counter with a surface cleaner isnt being effective.
TIA

I just saw a post regarding water issues and multiple people in comments were like "we get 24/7 water", I know people who work in this sector and here are some facts.
No you don't, even the CM's/Governor's house doesn't get 24/7 water supply, these houses just have a very large common tank for backup.
You get water for a set amount of hours, your building or society has a common tank where this water gets stored.
You start getting water issues when this tank empties before the next batch of water is recieved from BMC.
Also mumbai entirely gets its water from Nashik/Palghar Districts, powai is not supplying you water, we get our water from the gargantuan Vaitarna, Vihar and Tulsi lakes, so even if it rains in mumbai its of no use, unless it rains where these lakes are, we are not getting any water.
And one more thing that no one talks about, politicans always force BMC to give water to Navi Mumbai, Mira Bhayandar, Kalyan and Virar, these municipalities are so corrupt that that refuse to build their own infrastructure but they come begging to BMC every year for water.
So corruption in these cities affects your water supply as well

First time going on a full pandal hopping spree, anywhere between Churchgate and Bhayander on the Western Line works for me!
PS This is the one near my home.
r/mumbai • u/Prudent_Photo_4721 • 9h ago
Visited this pandal last evening but sadly did not have a good experience.
There was a powercut, absolute blackout in the pandal. The pandal is closed from all sides and has no ventilation.
We waited and then the power came back. So we headed to the food stalls but as soon as we entered, there was a powercut again. There was a certain stall making chicken and mutton rolls. For some reason they were accepting orders even though they couldn't make the roll. Initially we paid them 600 for 2 rolls, thinking their rolls were being made on gas. But turns out they were using an induction. So they couldn't do jack. We then got our money back and left.
I was surprised about the powercut in Dadar which is unusual. And especially during shashti which is an imp day. Thane pandals have been much better I feel, interns of food, number of stalls and all.
