Citizen's Report A huge thank you to St. Broseph and his team for doing God’s work ❤️

I recently moved to Bangalore and unfortunately found myself dealing with a horrible landlord, which left me stuck in a situation where ₹50k of my money was at risk. Being new to the city, I didn’t really have anyone to turn to for help, and the entire situation took a serious toll on me emotionally.

Amid all the anxiety and stress, I was desperately looking online for a way out when I came across St. Broseph and learned about the incredible work he and his team have been doing. I immediately reached out to them through their DMs, and I was honestly surprised by how quickly they responded and took action.

They called me to their HQ, patiently listened to my entire situation, and, more importantly, treated me with so much kindness and compassion. At a time when I was already overwhelmed and didn't know what to do, having people genuinely listen to me and try to help meant more than I can put into words.

Broseph himself stepped in, spoke to the landlord, and helped bring things to an agreement that resulted in me recovering ₹40k. I had almost given up hope and mentally prepared myself to lose the entire amount. The relief I felt when things finally started working out is something I’ll always be grateful for.

I know they help so many people facing difficult situations, and I can only imagine how much time, effort, and emotional energy they put into doing this work. The fact that they show up for strangers, listen to their problems without judgment, and help them navigate situations when they feel completely helpless is genuinely admirable.

This post is just a small way of expressing my gratitude and giving them the appreciation they deserve. They stepped in when I felt like I had nowhere else to turn, and I’ll always remember that.

Thank you, St. Broseph, and the entire team, for being there when people need you the most. ❤️

Bangalore has its own Batman, and he shows up when his people need him most. 🦇

Above image is a snapshot of one of my electricty bills for september 2026

this is my electricity bill breakdown

  1. p&g surcharge - (Pension and Gratuity Surcharge) - It recovers the Government of Karnataka's pension and gratuity contribution dues for retired employees of KPTCL and legacy ESCOMs

Current Rates

  • FY 2025–26: ₹0.36 per unit (36 paise)
  • FY 2026–27 (Current): ₹0.35 per unit (35 paise) plus a 9% electricity tax
  • FY 2027–28: ₹0.34 per unit (34 paise)

Exemptions: Consumers enrolled under the Gruha Jyothi scheme who stay within their free-unit limits are exempt from this charge.

Tell me why the hell should I pay 0.35 paise per unit + 9% tax on giving pension for keb employees. Shouldn't it be covered in there financial planning for the year ?

  1. Tariff revision arrears - the retroactive price difference you have to pay because the electricity regulator (such as the State Electricity Regulatory Commission) approved a higher rate for power you already consumed in previous months

This charge is daylight robbery

  1. FY25 True-Up Charge - an additional fee of 56 paise per unit (kWh) added to your electricity consumption

Why it is charged: The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) approved this charge to help BESCOM recover a revenue deficit/shortfall of ₹2,068.38 crore from the financial year 2024–25 (FY25).

They did worst financial planning for 2025, gave free electricity to people and now charging extra in 2026 for the 2025 subsequent months from people except the ones currently enrolled in gruha jyothi.

What the hell should I pay if they did bad financials for past year ? they are taking money this year

I have commercial shops in banaglore collectively I pay around 1-1.2L electrcity bill monthly, becuase of all these charges I'm paying 12-15k extra every month collectively .

AskBangalore So I built an app out of frustration. For Namma Bengaluru. Solo founder, need to know what ya'll have to say about it.

https://reddit.com/link/1x7fe9h/video/b7wqbibkttvh1/player

I live around Kalyan Nagar. My building has a WhatsApp group, the society has one, and in the area people have a few more. And I still find out what happened on my own street a day late, or never. The dog that went missing two lanes away. The water cut only some knew about. The flea market in the park I walked past on Monday.

Power cuts were what finally got me. Every time: "Power gone?" "Here also." "Since when?" Then silence. Nobody knows if it's one building or half of East Bangalore, and nobody says when it's back.

So for most of this year I've been building an app on the side, on my own, for everything that happens within a couple of km of you. It's called Localiti.

The part I'm proudest of is small.

- When the power or water goes, you report it in a few seconds and see if homes around you are reporting it too. When it's back, one tap and everyone nearby can see it. Same for network outages and waterlogging.

- A map of what's happening around you right now - Localiti Radar

- A local buy and sell marketplace. Gigs for freelancers/artists/special skilled people.

- Events.

- There's also lost and found with a "last seen" pin.

- Networking platform with neighbors.

It only ever shows your area, never your address. The screenshots use sample posts.

The honest part: it's new and small. A neighbourhood app is only as good as the neighbours on it, which is why I'm posting here. The first 100 people in each area get a Founding Neighbor badge. It's only a badge, but you'd have been there first.

What I'd love to know:

- Would you actually use something like this, or is your building's WhatsApp group enough?

- What do you wish you knew about your area that you only ever find out by accident?

- If you try it, what's broken or confusing?

I'm one person, so you'd be talking straight to whoever fixes it. I'll be in the comments.

Localiti (opens in the browser, no install needed. Android and iPhone apps created too

Rant Absolute pathetic state of government digital services

Was going over the process of getting an E-Khata for a property and I'm absolutely annoyed by the state of the digital services being offered here. Discrepancies in district names between portals (Bengaluru Urban does not appear in many sites at all!), property search facility is locked down between 7PM-8AM for reasons best known to them.

All of this coming after the fact that I paid Rs. 1,000 in "software fees" as part of the property tax - icing on the cake.

AskBangalore Built a lightweight, zero-login app to find co-passengers & split airport cabs at BLR (T1 & T2)

Hey r/bangalore,

If you land at Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), you already know the pain: an Uber, Ola, or BluSmart to places like Indiranagar, Koramangala, Whitefield, or HSR Layout routinely costs anywhere between ₹1,000 to ₹1,500+.

Most of us end up taking the cab alone with 3 empty seats.

To fix this for myself and fellow travelers, I built a lightweight, privacy-first web app to help travelers find co-passengers heading to the same neighborhood and split cab fares on the spot.

How it works (Zero Friction):

* No Signup / No Login Required — No passwords, no phone numbers, no forced downloads.

* Check-in in 5 Seconds — Select your terminal (T1 or T2), choose your drop neighborhood, and optionally enter a nickname.

* 45-Minute Live Matching — See co-passengers who landed around the same time heading to your area.

* Live In-App Chat — Coordinate a quick pickup spot (e.g., "Near Pillar B3 at T1") without giving away personal contact details.

* Auto Clean-up — Tap "We Paired Up!" to exit the queue once you find a co-passenger, so the active list stays fresh and clutter-free.

The app is completely free to use.

Try it here: Bangalore Airport Cab Share

Tip: Bookmark the link or add it to your phone's home screen so it's ready to use as soon as your flight lands!

Would love for the community to try it out on your next flight into BLR and drop any feedback or suggestions below! Safe travels! ✈️🚕

Serious Replies Aquaguard scam in this city

I have Urbanclap native RO and I had changed the filter in January and they claim it doesn’t need to be changed for 2 years.
This RO is booked under my name and number and UC doesn’t have any other number

Today morning my father got a call from random number that the RO needs filter servicing and we are coming to your house and it is free and my father agreed and strangely they our address too
I was not at home and not aware and the guy came and first had difficult time opening the RO but once opened he started making claims the filter has been destroyed and you will get sick if not replaced urgently and needs changing and we need to pay so that he goes and brings the filter

My mother took the sensible call of calling me and when i talked to the guy realised he is a scammer and asked him to fix the RO and leave immediately

Now he is calling me and abusing me and saying things like you are a bakra and threatening me and now i am scared for my parents
I have his photo and phone number sharing in comment below, need help on what can be done here

Rant Why has BMTC cancelled the bus stop at Manyata Tech Park?

Recently, BMTC seems to have stopped buses from dropping passengers directly at Manyata Tech Park. Commuters are now being asked to get down at Nagavara, before the flyover, or at Veeranapalya, beyond the tech park.

I understand that there may be safety concerns with stopping at the flyover, but the alternatives being provided are hardly practical.

If you get down at Nagavara, you have to walk through a stretch with ongoing construction, heavy traffic, and no proper footpaths. It’s nearly a kilometre of walking in these conditions just to reach the tech park. This is neither safe nor convenient for people commuting to work every day.

When I asked the bus conductor about this, I was told that the order had come from higher authorities and that they would be held responsible if anything happened.

A significant number of passengers on these buses used to be employees commuting to Manyata Tech Park. I fail to understand how this decision is going to encourage office-goers to use public transport.

I used to commute by motorcycle or car, but after experiencing how comfortable and convenient travelling by bus was, I switched to public transport. Now, with this change, it looks like I’ll have to go back to using my private vehicle.

Is anybody else going through this dilemma?

Citizen's Report Self checkin counters at KIA are closed because somebody brought diwali firecrackers and checked them in

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

Reached airport T1 to catch my flight to Delhi. I fly every 2 weeks and by now airport motion has become a routine. Usually it takes 20 minutes from digi yatra entry to self checkin kiosk to security check to boarding gate.

This morning it took twice that. The checkin counters on the left side when you enter have been closed so had to stand in the line at baggage drop counters. When I asked a security uncle about the self checkin they replied, people are getting firecrackers 🧨 and checking in and then it takes them a lot of time to call the passenger etc.

So they've closed the kiosks till Diwali. If you're flying out for festivals please keep this in mind and keep some buffer time with you.

Law & Order Urgent help needed to rescue dogs from animal cruelty

Hi everyone, we urgently need help rescuing dogs from an abusive household.
My brother-in-law has severely beaten one dog to the point that it needed CPR and broken another dog’s leg. My sister was also facing physical abuse and manipulation, which is why she couldn’t report the cruelty earlier. She has now escaped the abusive household but couldn’t rescue the dogs in time.
We’ve tried contacting PETA and Sarvoham, but haven’t been able to get help. We’ve also approached the local police, but they were unhelpful. Even when we reported my own sister’s physical abuse, they didn’t register a complaint.
Can anyone connect us with animal rescue organisations, NGOs, or authorities who can actually intervene and help get these dogs to safety? We’re extremely worried about their lives and need urgent, practical guidance.
Any leads or contacts would mean a lot. Thank you.
