Specialty Spreadsheets and Discords:
In additional to the traditional Google Sheets and Discords, Admit.org (by u/Happiest_Rabbit) and ResMatch (by u/Haunting_Welder) have specialty-specific forums and other resources for nearly every specialty! Admit.org has a program list builder, application manager, interview invite tracker, and more. ResMatch includes a lot of the information typically shared on spreadsheets, but helps eliminate common issues with moderating them. Choose your preferred platforms.
Please message our mod mail if you have a spreadsheet or Discord to add to the list. Alternatively, comment below and tag me. If it’s not in this list, we haven’t been sent it or the sheet may not exist yet. Note that our subreddit moderators do not moderate these sheets or channels; however, if we notice issues with consulting companies hijacking the creation of certain spreadsheets, we will gladly replace links as needed.
All discord invites are functional at the time added to the list. If an invite link is expired, check the specialty spreadsheet for an updated invite or see if there's a chat tab in the spreadsheet to ask for help.

I’m probably hella over thinking this.. but is this moss green suit ok for interviews? It fits me very well and looks really nice on me but it’s not the standard blue/black/gray..

Not sure if this is allowed here but I think it’s relevant.
So BYU is opening its own medical school, with its inaugural class expected in 2027. Given the university’s Honor Code, especially its policies against LGBTQ+ students, I genuinely wonder how this passes with LCME accreditation standards on inclusion and nondiscrimination? Could you imagine a new medical school banning “opposite sex romantic behavior” instead of “same sex romantic behavior”? Can you imagine the outrage?
I’m curious how this will be addressed during the accreditation process, and if this is going to be the start of a new trend. That said, the timing is certainly interesting. After all these years, I can’t help but wonder whether the current political climate has made this a more favorable time for BYU to move forward with a medical school.
Any thoughts?
Edit: if you were going to downvote me, at least have the decency to tell me what I said was incorrect.

Title, I've been pretty adamant about not using AI for anything honestly. I don't use it to summarize, make flash cards, create problem sets, write applications, etc. There are a variety of reasons I stay away from it but I do recognize that a lot of people, including a fair share of my classmates, use it for studying and other matters.
I understand that for better or for worse AI is the future, but seeing a lot of my classmates use it so frequently makes me wonder if I'm just "the odd one out" in terms of being more of a purist when it comes to studying for exams and whatnot. I'm not exactly anti-AI but I also don't see myself being an advocate for it's widespread implementation in its current state. Is there anyone out there that also doesn't use AI for studying?

Struggling on how to close my email thanking my interviews. Deciding between the following but idk, I just want to be nonchalant and not give "pick me" energy
- Thank you for your time,
- Hope to see you on July 1,
- See you on July 1 (threat),
- Thank you for ranking me to match,
- From your future resident,
- Devotedly yours,
- Please, please, please, please, please,

There was nobody left to outperform at my miserable job. That’s why.

I mean we’re all doing stupid things to please the other side, and most of the time they don’t even look at us and being ghosted is nothing unexpected. Signaling is just like superlike on the apps. I feel like a freaking clown now🤡

I'm an M3 and was sent by a resident to get a history. This patient was like 19 but her mom, dad, grandma etc were in the room with her. Pt was coming in for a miscarriage but parents were answering everything for her and asking why I was asking what I was and cutting me off saying they want the doc etc. I wanted to leave and took note of whatever I could but got so mad after. Like were you having the fucking kid? No right? Then shut the hell up. They would probably end up raising it anyway this girl was basically a kid but that's another story. I'll be good in a couple hours but just wanted to vent.

I wanted to get a sense of where we are in the diagnostic radiology interview invite season, so I plotted the daily invite counts reported on the DR spreadsheets from this year and three previous years (this year’s spreadsheet).
Historically, roughly half of each season’s reported invites had appeared by this point. If this year follows a similar timeline, it seems that we are around the halfway mark for total invites sent.

Im sorry but another IM post. At this point, sitting at 0 interviews for academic IM programs. Fortunate to have a couple community IM programs. With the first waves already out for most academic programs, is there still time to go for this season?

i am happily welcoming and awaiting any SINGULAR interview with gratitude and open arms but what is this pooled waitlist situation??????? i just got 5 emails in a matter of 3 minutes saying a spot has opened up and within literally 15 seconds there is no spot opened.
is the email glitching??? that can't be a real thing.... again i am grateful for anything but that is something that i absolutely cannot allow myself to subscribe to? pls tell me this is like an app error or something.

In advance, I apologize if my way of writing is not clear, I don't know how to do better.
I am a 5th year medical student in France, 25 years old old male. For those who do not know, in 5th grade in France we are not yet doctors and doctors but simply students while waiting for the 6th grade competition. I had certain concerns in terms of addictions and social that led me straight into a very heavy depression that required several types of care of which I pass you the details. I am 25 years old, I was diagnosed with ADHD, dyspraxic and borderline personality while my 13 years old.
I was doing pretty well for 6 months, I really felt like I came back and I was finally coming out of my period of black idea and self-destruction.
But I entered this internship in pediatric resuscitation. In just 1 week, I witnessed the death of 5 children, being able to provide only supportive care because most of them were in a state of brain death.
So I saw all these children die on the chain without being able to do anything.
Having a fairly low self-esteem I wonder how as a future doctor I will be able to save the lives of my patients, if the graduate doctors themselves do not succeed? I feel incapable of it. I have the impression that despite the fact that I am interested in my studies, I do not feel smart and focused enough to be able to do my future work properly.
I'm afraid of being incompetent.
I'm afraid of having done all these studies only out of ego to try to prove to myself that I knew how to do good studies, but that in the end I don't have the crank.
I chained 2 guards from 24 hours to 1 day apart this week, and I felt useless, I felt despised by the teams, and I felt out of place at all.
I returned home at 8 a.m. ending the night, with the appearance of a black idea that had not manifested itself for months, I who thought that my mental health was finally stable.
Today I was on a day off, well thank God, I spent an evening with friends pretending to be fine.
I went home and cried, it had been years.
Tomorrow I have to spend the day with friends for the birthday of one of my best friends, but I don't have the mental strength despite having promised my presence, I really think I'm living my last moments.
I have never had so much determination to tie a rope to my neck.
I think it's the right time.

Hellooo.. still dead quiet after 1 IV from home program for psych. (fyi, EVERYONE who applied psych from my school gets an interview from my home program and for this cycle I know there are at least 13-15 people from my class applying) I was foolish enough to not come up with a good strategy, just applied mainly to prestigious programs. At this point i’m thinking chances of not matching this cycle. I plan on sending out LOIs next week but with very low hopes.
Can anyone explain how SOAP exactly works? Will there be positions left if any for psych post-match? If so, is it mostly going to be in rural areas?
I don’t intend to do any other specialties other than psych, but if it is better for me to go into other specialties like IM or FM and reapply next cycle for psych than to fail match, I do want to know.
At this point I have no hopes.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Perelman IM residency waitlist. I wonder if this is just a soft rejection or if the program actually has movement. I would be shocked if anyone canceled their interviews here.

I had a interview on webex which wasnt bad, i had a zoom interview today and the delay was so bad i was so dead terrified of responding to my interviewer out of fear of cutting them off, and when i felt comfortable they were done speaking theyd just move onto the next topic. Lowkey making me kind of wish all interviews were in person even though it would cost a trillion bucks

If you are on a chill M3 elective rotation where the attending/residents lets you out like in 1-2 hrs cough cough rads/anesthesia, and if your school requires you to log hours, do you report the hours accurately or what?

Not everyone is your friend: Learn to address people as batchmates.
The group you made in your first year will become nothing more than a WhatsApp group. Learn to accept losing people.
Learn to say no: Saying yes to everyone makes you lose your value and wastes your precious time that you could invest in your growth.
Don't compromise on your health: It's a long and hectic journey. Compromising your health for studies will do you no good.
Learn to accept failures: It's okay to fail sometimes. Your marks here don't determine whether you're going to be a good doctor; it's your compassion for your profession that does.
Don't forget your hobbies: Studying is, of course, the priority, but don't give up on your hobbies. They will be the only things that will be there when nobody else is.
Be a learner: You can't be an expert at everything. You have to be humble enough to learn even from your batchmates.
Don't go along with the crowd: Do enjoy every moment and every occasion, but getting intoxicated and smoking are only going to harm you.
Enjoy to the fullest: These UG days are going to become lifelong memories to cherish. Enjoy every event, participate in everything you like, click as many pictures as you can, and dance to your heart's content during college events.
Adjust to your hostel food: It tastes the worst, but it won't give you the peptic ulcers that you're likely to develop very soon if you don't stop ordering food online randomly.
You don't have to study every line: Yes, it's true that medicos have to study a lot, but that doesn't mean you have to study the entire course line by line. However, that doesn't mean you should study just to pass the exams, either. Study because your knowledge is going to save someone's life.
Be compassionate towards your patients: Someone has come to you because they need help. Don't be rude. Talk to them and ask them how they feel. I bet you'll feel great when they thank you and bless you with all their heart.

Feeling really discouraged about my chances of getting good LORs. I’m on IM right now but only work with most attendings 1-2 weeks at a time and don’t have much face time with them or much responsibility. I just finished my one week with an attending and asked for a letter, but they said no because we weren’t able to spend a lot of time together. I totally understand, but I’m nervous and kind of discouraged. IM is what I want to do, and I’m not sure if I need letters to get my desired audition rotations. Just not really sure what to do from here 😕

Saw 2 antivaxx moms back to back who want to do “their own research” before vaccinating their children. Took everything in me to not mommy shame them. Even days later I’m still thinking about them and how mad I am about their decisions + how it reflects about the future of American medicine. Anyone else have advice on how to deal with this?

So recently i learned that one of the interns on my surgery rotation has basically been comparing me and one other girl who had her on the FIRST FUCKING WEEK of surgery (after peds) to this other girl saying how we just weren't at the level of a third year medial student because we didnt do notes on our own. keep in mind no one went over any expectations with us, she would leave us and go to clinic for HOURS on end with no communication and so we just had to pick random OR rooms to go to and she would leave for rounds without telling us. the whole nine yards.
Anyway. i'm not opposed to criticism, tell me what i'm doing wrong so that i can better myself or explain myself, etc. the issue i'm having is that this person directly name dropped me and the other girl to our peer and i had to hear about it from my co-student. i was embarrassed to say the least. but that seems so unprofessional???
i already knew she didn't like me and was dreading having her as my direct intern again for two weeks but now the environment feels hostile towards learning. is it worth asking for a schedule change to work with different residents? i'm sure she named dropped me to the other interns already but like wtaf ya know? i just am trying my best. i hate surgery and knew i would before it even started. i have no interest in it but im afraid for bad evals. whatever i guess. just kill me fr.
anyway, am i being dramatic or was that actually unprofessional of her and worth me being up to the coordinator so that i could get a switch?
